    For cutting, a feature called "wobble" is invaluable. Your software looks to be a modified version of EzCad, which is what runs nearly all of the bigger Chinese fiber lasers. Under "Advanced setup", there should be an option to enable wobble, and then settings for spacing and diameter. Wobble moves the beam in a spiral path, essentially widening it, and it really helps for cutting. If you just try the beam on its own, it's very narrow and the cut easily gets clogged up with debris. I would try a spacing of 0.03mm and a diameter of 0.2mm initially. That looks a really nice little machine - it's amazing how compact they've become.

      Thank you for the info.
      I see a setting called Jitter where diameter
      and spacing can be set. Would that be the same?

    • @imajeenyus42
      @imajeenyus42 Рік тому

      @@myfordboy Yup, that sounds like the setting. For speed, I'd try something like 500mm/s and run repeated passes. The rationale for the spacing and diameter settings - roughly, you want the wobble/jitter spacing to be a bit less than the spot size, so adjacent "loops" overlap, and 0.03mm is pretty good for this. The diameter depends on the thickness of the material - because the cut edge has a taper, thicker material needs a wider wobble diameter to make sure it goes right through.

    I particularly like the way these can cut intricate shapes in paper and vinyl, good for custom sticker designs that a vinyl cutter might struggle with. Maybe something to add to the list for next year.

      Possibly but one of the diode lasers i reviewed will do this. The fibre laser is really for marking metals and such rather than cutting.

    Just for anyone's information, this is not a *fiber laser. A fiber laser uses an optical fiber as a gain medium. This laser doesn't have any optical fiber. This is a diode pumped solid state laser - so calling it a *fiber laser is very misleading.
