I adore how your books are loved and not obsessed with having hard backs and 'aesthetic' complete collections, and not cracking the spine. I appreciate people now love that but I always found it unsettling and a little materialistic. I feel at home on this side of booktube. Thank you for sharing.
What I love about this bookself tour: -The books that looked read and loved. -The classics in chronological order (seriously I might try and do that, although I do not own many classics- i get them from the library) - all the greek and Roman texts - this line: "The fall of the roman empire... so sad I know" (I feel you. Let's not talk about the library of Alexandria being destroyed or else I will get emotional) -you wanting to learn ancient greek and Latin ♥️ -All these historical fiction. (One of my favourite genres) - finally someone who does not read only ya. (Nothing against ya, but it's always better to explore more genres in my opinion) -great treasures of Pompeii and Herculaneum (because we love Pompeii and Herculaneum) -somebody who still borrows books from the library. -Harry Potter (and the italian version of course. I don't know if you have read it, if yes I am curious to know what you think about the translation of some of the names like Tassorosso, Silente, Piton ecc). I am glad UA-cam recommend me this video, and of course I subscribed.
It’s wild to jump back here and look at your shelf tours and see how things have changed. Sounds weird but I think I’m going to marathon all of your shelf tours in chronological order to get the full feel. Seeing more of your language learning goals makes me think of all these resource recommendations for Greek and Latin. I’ll find a good video to list them out on!
Oh boy, this makes me so happy! I've been binging your vlogs like a girl obsessed these past few days, and even though I'm only 4 minutes into this video I already know it will bring me so much joy. Love your aesthetic, your taste in books and the way you talk about them! :)
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT THE NAME OF THE DARK HILLS DIVIDE! i read it in elementary school at my library and i've been looking for it ever since. this video was a godsend lmao.
I felt like I found a booktuber that I can trust. I am so sick and tired of all these YA fiction novels. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy them, but classics and moreover someone that appreciate classic literature as Greek, Latin, and Russian, is a rare phenomenon here in this community. Finally, someone's opinion on book proposals would matter to me!
Found your channel a while back and slowly getting through all the videos. My TBR pile has exploded since as I seem to add every book and have a list of books I now need to get and ones I never heard of previously . One of my favourite booktubers.
Wait, I have something I can’t swallow: do not, under any circumstances, read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Terrible, complete fanfiction, save your childhood.
Murielle Azzi I couldn’t agree more. Of course I read it already, absolutely over glorified fan fiction. How J.K. Rowling can call it “canon” is just laughable. Hate it, hatttteee it
My Bookish Addiction I read it all in one go but all throughout it, it was just WTF moments. They skipped THE YEARS. This is what fanfiction does. It’s so so bad. I choose to ignore this whole book whenever I think about Harry Potter because it just ruins EVERYTHING.
I read Cursed Child and when I first read it thought it was okay, but then after I did a reread of the Harry Potter series and reread Cursed Child, I hated that book. There are better written Harry Potter fanfiction out there that depict Harry after the war and his children.
"They're my favorite smelling books I own." Hahaha!!! YES girl!!!!! I've smelled books all my life and my three grown sons do it now too! First thing we all do when we get a book is plant it on our face and take a mighty whiff! I laugh with joy each time I see my sons do it! What a good mom I am for teaching them that! lol
Your library is beautiful. Someday I hope to get bookshelves myself. You’re organization video was so amazing. Please keep up the amazing bookish videos!!
I’m with this new goal of reading more classics (I’m also an English lang and lit student - but I’m Brazilian, so we don’t have as much classes in literature or as deep as you probably have) and now I NEED to rearrange my classics by publishing order. I have a problem with how uneven they might be, but the idea of looking at it and know what was happening in literature worldwide is a pretty cool and inviting one. Also I SCREAMED when you said one of your favorite books is phantom of the opera!!! It’s one my favs too! Gotta grab a copy of “phantom” tho. Haven’t read yet, but it’s on my TBR
This video is soo great I can’t even put it into words. Like I’d never shut up if I were to say everything I want to say so just simply, I *loved* it. THANK YOU
I always love bookshelf tours. They're so calming. And you have a lovely collection and I loved getting to see how you set everything up. I already mentioned that I love your collection, but the Virals! I haven't seen anyone talk about it either it's wild. I went through a small Kathy Reichs phase because I was obsessed with Bones for several years. I love those HP prints. They're lovely. I feel you on the cost of textbooks. It's ridiculous. I love that you put your books in chronological order. Oh hey Wheelock haha. I've translated so many of those Romans. They're all a good time. Definitely enjoyed this Emma.
Ah yes Virals! You're the first person I've talked to who's read the series, I really loved it when I was younger and still think I'd enjoy them if I picked them up again - thank you!
I agree, the Mysteries of Udolpho is great! And the Phantom of the Opera is magnificent, I love love love The Phantom as well. The Butchering Art is on my to-read list.
Wow! What a beautiful reading/studying area. I love the little arrangement that you have set up and you have such a wide variety of books too. Not gonna lie though, seeing those two copies of Phantom by Susan Kay made my heart super happy. I adore just about any adaption of that story.
jonathan strange & mr norrell is my absolute favorite book of all time so i'm always excited when i see it on someone's shelf!! from what i've seen in this vid it's definitely right up your alley so I hope you love it when you get around to it! (also the show that's on netflix is literally the best thing ever too)
Thank you for sharing your beautiful library! You have such a wide variety of books and interests. I'm excited for you to read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell as well as Sense and Sensibility. And you've encouraged me to pick up Letters to a Young Poet sooner rather than later!
Ooh how was Jonathan Strange?? I've heard amazing amazing things - I think I can get S+S through Libby soon so might be reading that in the near future! AND AH REALLY? That's incredible, can't wait to hear what you think!!
Jonathan Strange was amazing! I read it a long time ago at this point, but the way magic and Napoleonic English history mix is brilliant! I can't wait to hear what you think of it as well as S&S!
That Amphoreas or Amphora "Greek vase" you have there is very beautiful and it should be more valuable than 6$. Maybe it represents goddess Artemis or just a huntress in the front and it is exactly designed as the ones they used back in the 300-3000 BC era. The whole room looks very cozy and well decorated. Very nice place! Book is the main ingredient!
I ordered a copy of The phantom of the opera! You made me so curious to read it and also The Phantom. I love your collection. Very nice roman and greek classics and stuff about Egypt.
i loved the little montage at the beginning! all the classical studies collection bit is my favorite and honestly every time you show the huge red greek book i feel like i want to pick the language up again, henry winter Really Has Nothing on anyone 😂 loved this x
The Alexandros trilogy by Valerio Massimo Manfredi is amazing! He's so popular here in Italy and, let me tell you, the first book is beautiful (I've read the original version, in Italian, but I'm sure the translation is great as well!).
It caught my attention you said you wanted to read more medieval things, so I’ve come to recommend some stuffs. I’m also a literature student, but it’s german literature lol. Since I live in Latinamerica, they also teach the Hispanic (as in from Spain) heritage of Iberoamerican literature, so we have to read A LOT of Spanish Medieval and Reinassance literature. If you’re interested in medieval stuff or pre-Reinassance, you should definitely check Spanish literature out. Other than that, I recommend “Amadís de Gaula” (which is kind of like Arthurian (?) vibe), “La Celestina” (it’s from the genre “novela picaresca” so like satire and it’s genuinly kinda funny) and of course I think you should read “Don Quijote” (I think you English sepaking people write it like Quixote). I think even if you don’t have a huge interest in hispanism like me lol, these are works that are worth your time and interest.
I had 6 hours a week of Greek last year and 4 hours a week this year, I can tell you it is hard. It can be tedious at times but when you get it right, it is really rewarding :) I am impressed that you feel it is pretty easy. As for me, I still think it is the most difficult part of my degree which focuses on all aspect of what we call "the humanities" in France (French literature, English literature, Philosophy, History and Ancient studies like Greek and Latin). Having to translate Greek is really tricky. But hey, how many people can say they read/understand/write ancient Greek after all ? Also, I really enjoy your videos ! This one in particular made me want to raid my mother's bookshelf for more English classics ! Thank you :)
You got my attention at 8:49 when you said Erika Johnson instead of Erika Johansen😂😂The fact that you organized your classics chronologically is amazing, I tend to just stuff mine wherever they will manage to fit. Amazing video 😊
V cool video, and greetings from Wales. Seeing the Plath reminded me of 'The Silent Woman: Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes' by Janet Malcolm'. Great read; not sure how well known it is. Malcolm also an interesting figure.
This is the first time I actually watch a video this long and enjoy it 😂❤️ Also, please make a video on how to teach yourself greek mythology! (And roman lol)
I arrange and catalogue my books, CDs (do people still even use them?) and just about everything alphabetically as well. Having a system keeps things in order. Easier to find and easier to keep it at its spot after use
My books are arranged alphabetically because that way I know how to find everything but I've never thought about how arranging chronologically and having a visual representation of the timeline would help me place things in time mentally. I never expected to learn something from a bookshelf tour!

Your arrangement of books is amazing😍 I hope someday I can make a similar bookshelf(though I know it will not be as great as yours). Did you really read the Italian version of Harry Potter. If you did kudos. 💗
Angelique P awe I’m sure your bookshelf is stunning - as long as there’s books on a shelf it’s beautiful no matter what 🤷🏻♀️ And aha I’ve read half of it but I’m due to read the other half this summer, don’t ever wanna lose my Italian so gotta find more!!

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT THE NAME OF THE DARK HILLS DIVIDE! i read it in elementary school at my library and i've been looking for it ever since. this video was a godsend lmao.

"Jekyll loves Hyde" hahahahahaha sounds like fan fic title or something
PumpkinMozie aha it was the name of a book I read in February...and t’was not a very good read :/
can't deny it, book smell is important. My brother can open my books and tell which store I got them from based on the smell XD
I agree, the Mysteries of Udolpho is great! And the Phantom of the Opera is magnificent, I love love love The Phantom as well. The Butchering Art is on my to-read list.
You have such fantastic collection!! Love the classics in chronologycal order 😍👍
You're adorable, Emma! Your love of reading is just so pure. It makes my heart happy! :-)

Your wall stickers from Harry Potter are beautiful 🌸
You posted in the right time. I just finished writing. I love your videos. Keep going Emmie :)
Ooh what were you writing? Thank you!!

Your bookshelves are so pretty! 😍😍 I love the vines and all the ornaments!

I *loved* the Dark Hills Divide!!
one of my fav children's series for sure, probably gonna reread it soon, it makes me so happy

Nice one. You definitely have a very good aesthetic sense. Discovered you just today. Loved your content
'Henry Winter's got nothing on me' lol. You go girl!!!
Loved the bookshelf toor!😊
This is the style of book shelve tour I want 😁😆
i loved the little montage at the beginning! all the classical studies collection bit is my favorite and honestly every time you show the huge red greek book i feel like i want to pick the language up again, henry winter Really Has Nothing on anyone 😂 loved this x
Do it!! I'd love to do more videos on specifically classical studies stuff or Greek so maybe soon - and very true, thank you

You inspired me to read more literature. I'm in a reading slump right now because of work. Still, Thanks and God Bless!
I'm surprised and pleased with how much classics and non YA stuff you have on your shelves. Keep on reading
a classic short story i recommend 100% is The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Read/studied it for AP eng project and I loved/love it!
I had 6 hours a week of Greek last year and 4 hours a week this year, I can tell you it is hard. Erika Johnson baha yes I imagine I did😅 Thanks girl✨
comfort video
This is such a soothing video, I love it
Very nice collection! I especially like your classics. Also, you have very pretty hands.
this video is perfection 💚
V cool video, and greetings from Wales. Seeing the Plath reminded me of 'The Silent Woman: Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes' by Janet Malcolm'. Great read; not sure how well known it is. Malcolm also an interesting figure.
I live your taste in books!
This is the first time I actually watch a video this long and enjoy it 😂❤️
Also, please make a video on how to teach yourself greek mythology! (And roman lol)
My bestfriend's name is Rand! ik you don't care but oh well! I guess
Ekram Ababneh haha aw that’s cute
I arrange and catalogue my books, CDs (do people still even use them?) and just about everything alphabetically as well. Having a system keeps things in order. Easier to find and easier to keep it at its spot after use
The velveteen rabbit, está bien bonito.
My books are arranged alphabetically because that way I know how to find everything but I've never thought about how arranging chronologically and having a visual representation of the timeline would help me place things in time mentally. I never expected to learn something from a bookshelf tour!
Omg! I have never seen anyone else with the Patrick Carman series... it was my first ever book series and I still have them!
Omg I may have to reorganise my classics shelves into chronological order, I am SO BAD at putting anything on a timeline or remembering where books are in history
it really helps!!
i honestly much have rewatched this video about 25 times
oh we LOVE Anne Carson, what an icon
"Wow, Russia was really boomin'"
Ahahah
If you've read mary wollstonecraft, would you recommend her work to read now? Frankenstein is my favourite book and I've been interested in her mom's stuff too.
I understand what you mean about the butterflies. I think a lot of people think that being vegan means that you have extreme negative reactions to any suggestion of harming animals, but for me it just means considering how we treat animals more deeply. Have you read We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler? I loved this video!
ahhh i read the land of elyon series too, they're still on my shelf
Thanks to you I’ve been getting into Rilke and I’m going to break my book buying ban to buy Letters to a Young Poet (hopefully sooner rather than later!) :)
okay i know this is late but if you want to read more jeanette winterson, i would HIGHLY recommend Art and Lies, it is incredible!
“Heavy Russian times”😂😂😂😂😂 brilliant!!!!!
OMG!!!! Where did you bought that edition of The phantom of the opera, is my favorite book and I've been looking for that edition so long! 😱
Where did you get the candle holder with stars in the top?
Thank you Emmie, I'm Sri Lanka
Your arrangement of books is amazing😍 I hope someday I can make a similar bookshelf(though I know it will not be as great as yours). Did you really read the Italian version of Harry Potter. If you did kudos.
💗
Angelique P awe I’m sure your bookshelf is stunning - as long as there’s books on a shelf it’s beautiful no matter what 🤷🏻♀️ And aha I’ve read half of it but I’m due to read the other half this summer, don’t ever wanna lose my Italian so gotta find more!!
Where did you get your butterfly skull from? Also, love your taste in books!!
Hi from Japan. Have you read 1Q84 or Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami? Anything by Sakunosuke Oda is also good.
where did you get the harry potter prints? i love them 🥺💕
nvm you literally answered my question LMFAO
THE DARK HILLS DIVIDE MEMORY UNLOCKED
I didn’t like Murder on the Orient Express either. At first I felt bad, now not so much.
Forgot to mention I loved The Night Circus. I think I need to re-read The Starless Sea before I can form an opinion. I liked it, but it was a lot more dense than The Night Circus.
Didn't Rilke write the novel ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT?
hi , me encanta tu tono de voz, me relaja mucho. saludos.
wait, what course are you studying? i am intrigued.
That one scene where she doesn't slide away the decorations with the books behind... 🥲
1860-1880 was a time of reform in Russia, literacy rates increased, more people had access to university. There was the intelligentsia who were a small minority who were educated, could travel and I suppose Russian literature bloomed from this. It was also I time of revolutionary ideas, Karl Marx, for example.
Can someone suggest few scented candles for my cozy book nook?
❤
Wait a sec! You skipped right over one of my favorites: Snow Country by Yusunari Kawabata.
i have the same copy of harry potter in italian. started reading it and realized it would be hard bc of all the magical words LOL
Wow all your books are awesome 😍 you have such an amazing taste 🌼 have a great day Emma ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧

Nice tour, Em... I loved Tuck Everlasting when younger. Your desk is great! Book-love! ❤️📖❤️📙❤️📖❤️
why am i watching the 6th bookshelf tour this month? actually im not sure....
does anyone here read any Dan Brown's books?
You're 5'2"?!Same.
I don't know if you will see this because this video came out a while ago but most butterfly taxidermy is just butterflies that passed away at sanshawerys so i can assure you those guys had a wonderful life before being pinned.
taxidermy isn’t about killing the animal most of the time. most taxidermy artists do this to preserve the beauty of an animal. think of it more of a mortician, making beauty even in death

This is such a cute video idea!! I just posted some book recs :) let's support each other!
google the author you asked about and “worthless noise” ...
