I only cover things that mihoyo has officially released, and two, no I have it, nor will I cover it or take it into account as anything of the nature could either be false or removed or changed. When theorizing, only take into account what has been officially released, as that is the only thing that is truly cannon. Everything else is subject to change.

A little note about ‘we will be reunited’ trailer, the hilichurls don’t disappear after being killed, they stay dead on the ground, kinda creepy
I don't think he can have a delusion because it's stated that people who don't have visions react badly to delusions, that is why most people who have delusions have visions as well.
There could be examples where they have delusion with no vision that I don't know about though.
I don't think he has either, I think his power comes from the Abyss personally, as he has a history with it, or alternatvely another source, maybe something to do with Ley lines (that ties in to his title of bough keeper)
Also the other word they use instead of 'Traveller' often is 'Outlander', I think outlander refers to people that have came from outside of Teyvat.
The point about Venessa's death is weird to me. I know somebody ingame says that, a historian more specifically, but it could be an intentional inaccuracy. I'm not sure if she even died, the Manga is super vague with this point as she kind of enters celestia and then the falcon leaves. So yeah... it's weird.
Andrius is probably the wolf of the north because he far pre-dates even Barbatos, it was said he was to become the next Anemo archon once Decarabian fell. There was somewhat of a conflict between the two and the winds around old Mondstadt was to keep Andrius out IIRC. I think Barbatos and Andrius worked together to over throw him and then Andrius gave the position to Barbatos. Again pulling this from memory so I could not be 100% correct, ma brain old. As I stated in my video on the quest that the wolves back date a long long way and that is why that location in-particular interests me, as they have heavy ties to the Moon... and the Moon specifically is consistently references through the lore, tying in the Archon of Time, the three sisters. Even the towns Mondstadt and Liyue have moon tied into them. Not to mention the blood moon during the trailer and cataclysm.
Lol, the scent thing actually connects into one of my theories... man that ones been on the back burner for a while... ever since my original Dainsleif video... one day maybe.
I also agree that “She” isn't 100% Lumine. I just think it's most likely to be nothing in the trailer now.
But hey... if Dainsleif is the 2nd Heir, 'she' could be the 1st heir... and I was right about a red herring all this time... One can dream right?

If you read DIluc and Kaeya's backstory, it is said that their father, Crepus had used a Delusion without a vision, which backfired on him. And if my "memory serves me right", All the fatui harbingers have visions AND delusions.
Your comment about Andrius not being in the north made me realize that Dvalin is in the west meaning the map is upside down which actually fits with mondstat being the lion of the south's domain.
A lot of people have noted that even though you enlist dainslief you follow him on his personal business but doesn't that also mean that dain hasnt fulfilled his part of the bargain yet. At the end he may be saying at least in part that he still owes you a commission without drawing too much attention to the fact that he never fulfilled you request despite taking payment.
Ooh shit interesting. I was under the impression the entire time that what we just did was our commission but yeah we never actually tell him to do anything, he just drags us around. Maybe that payment we give him comes into play with Lumine in the future? Really interesting thought
Make no mistake, Dainsleif DETEST gods and deities. He said so himself in Xiao's Miscellany. Not unusual for someone who hails from the godless nation of Khaneriah. He hates how selfish and arrogant lofty beings rule over mankind and how "humanity" is better off without them.
Yet, between condescending deities and the Abyss, it is sensible for him to opt against the greater evil.
Very fun disscussion/possible theories~
I'd also like to point out some other odd things, not necessarily related to Dain himself, but could be related on future events and other connections Dain will be involved in.

1.) Someone mentioned in another comment that Venti tells you that there is a "Princess/Prince" ruling the Abyss. I can't remember if Venti says that later b4 you head to Liyue (I don't think so?), but he is not the first character to relay that info to the Traveler. -- Kaeya is.
Upon re-entering Mond after clearing the obstacles for Amber outside the city, Kaeya talks to you while you talk to Sara at Good Hunter. He gets into a discussion with you about how he found it odd that the Abyss would only send "a few hillichurls" when their big names were out w/ you in dealing with Duvalin. Found it sus, so he waited inside the city to see if they would try anything while the rest of the Knights/Adventurers were distracted by the Hillichurls.
This is when he mentions that he found some "shady figures" (never says who or what they were). Followed and engaged in a bit of "fraternizing" and got info out of them about the Abyss Order. Which is when he tells you that a "Prince/Princess" is leading them.
2.) On the topic of Kaeya "fraternizing" (as he calls it) w/ the shady ppl/beings...Weirdly, Paimon is confused how he managed to get this info out of these "shady figures", and Kaeya just says: "Let's just say I'm gifted with certain....linguistic powers."
With no further comment.
I always found that kinda sus, bc it could very easily just be him not wanting to say he interrogated these ppl/beings (possibly tortured them). But given that we've seen other characters already do this, and in Diluc's Quest outright endorsed it ourselves...I doubt that's it. LOL
Weirdly enough, this kinda led to a theory floating around that if Abyss Heralds could be human or humanoid, then maybe Kaeya was one. He already shares enough similarities w/ Abyss Mages through his design:
+ His white fur, is resembles that of the Ice Abyss Mages coats (this is the most eh tho, bc for all we know he just skinned an Abyss Mage. Also other ice-enemies have similar fur).
+ His Ult./Q is literally the same power the Ice Abyss Mages have, with icicles spinning around them.
The difference is Kaeya's have a pattern on them that shows up on Hillichurl stuff and kinda in ruins/Dain's clothes. Where as normal Abyss Mages it's just a chunk of ice, no design.
+ Out of the playable character's who can teleport, Kaeya to my knowledge is the only one who outright blinks out of existence (with no trace of anything left behind), then reappears behind enemies like Abyss Mages do.
(Keqing does fully disappear, but she requires a device to teleport to. Mages turn into a ball of their element when they plunge. Hu Tao leaves behind a trail of gold lines/butterflies/fire when she does certain actions.)
Though this leaves the interesting question if Kaeya is not only connected to Khaenri'ah (which we know he is by his story, and him and Dain sharing the same pupils; though Dain's is more noticeable in-game, while Kaeya's is more noticeable in the official comic & some official art, depending on who's drawing him)...and potentially the Abyss.
3.) Back to the Dain quest at hand, but still related to Kaeya.
The fact that Traveler brings up Kaeya AT ALL in this is weird, and feels very foreshadow-y to me.
Traveler specifically uses the logic that Eyepatch = Kaeya relative....Just like Kaeya told us in HIS story quest. Back when he was basically bullshitting us into doing what he wanted us to.
This is funny bc it makes direct callbacks to a Story Quest. A Character specific thing, who already has ties to Khaenri'ah (& by proxy maybe Dain).
It's even funnier, bc Fischl also has an eyepatch. We had a full canon story event with her, and not once does the Traveler ever bring up the eye-patch correlation to Kaeya with her.
Funnily enough though, Kaeya & Fishcl both have voiced lines about each other in relation to them having eyepatches;
Kaeya says that if Fishcl is a "Princess" with an Eyepatch, then does that make him a "Prince"...Which is kinda hmmmm bc his C1 is named "Excellent Blood", his Constellation is a Peacock and his AA is titled "Ceremonial Bladework" (as opposed to every other Knight of Favonius who uses swords which are titled "Favonius Bladework").
Fishcl's line on Kaeya comments on how maybe him having the eyepatch means he has similar powers to her...Which Oz cuts off, and completely changes the meaning of her words when he translates this one. He does this to varying degrees in others, but the most drastically different in interpretation from her original words is this line about Kaeya.
4.) Dain commenting on "scent" is also kinda funny, bc Kaeya ALSO makes comments on "scent". He does this as his first line to you when you join him at the Temple of the Wolf.
Traveler is given the option to say it smelled like burnt slimes, or that they can't smell anything. Saying slimes, will result in Kaeya not really agreeing with you, but not denying it either. He just doesn't say what it was he smelled. He talks very "generalized" about it.
I don't think this is necessarily a solid connection to whatever Dain is able to do. But it is a interesting parallel, bc no one else has done this besides these 2 characters.
If the smell was burnt slimes, I think it's just bc Kaeya was aware Diluc was in there, which is why he's not even remotely surprized when Diluc shows up to yeet the Water Mage he lures out.
However, I've never seen anyone pick the "I can't smell anything" option, so I don't know if Kaeya explains what he smells there, or if he avoids telling you outright again.
5.) When doing this ques, I was REALLY bothered by the writing that appears above the Abyss Mages heads when you go fight them in Wolvendom.
Because the text above them from what I can tell, doesn't reflect any of the writing styles shown in-game thus far.
It's not the same writing above the one fire saying "Abyssos", nor is it the writing in various Ruins/the Abyss. It's not Liyue or Mond's writing.
I debated if maybe it's what Hillichurl text looks like...
Bc we've seen translations of it from various Chinese web stuff and in-game stuff, but that's all based on how Hillichurls speak SOUNDS. Not how it's written.
If it is, then it would explain why the Abyss Mages are able to control the Hillichurls.

I would like to point out that at 11:44 lumine has her original white color on the glowing parts of her clothing showing that she either didn’t lose her original power or she was able to get it restored.

20:00 idk if this overanalyzing it but when dainsleif said that he know about andrius just because lumine wanted to hear it suggest that he himself is not all-knowing but instead is able to access the information when he needs it
Regarding Lumine's position within the Order, it is without doubt that she is the boss. Venti once said at the end of the prologue that there is a "Princess" who the Order answers to. The title changes to "Prince" if Lumine were the MC so it's pretty cap. Heck it might not even be an exageration to say that Lumine might be the one who founded (or reformed since the abyss might be more ancient than we thought) the Order all those years ago.
Actually, the abyss was formed AFTER the destruction of Khanréiah, Lumine and Aether were already on that world by then. (It was revealed that the Abyss Order is actually the people of Khanreiah itself.) So quite possibly, they were turned, and after Aether's powers were sealed, and Lumine was captured( and escaped), Lumine decided to lead the Abyss.
Just a theory but with Dainsleifs « history » with the abyss maybe he can « sense » or « smell » the abyss heralds just like the MC can « smell » their sibling because he was specifically linked to the heralds. Maybe he also was a high ranking member of the Abyss Order when Lumine arrived and did in fact help her and travel with her for a while before she took over the Abyss Order and when she did he decided to leave and oppose them because he didn’t believe in her ideas/values.

You might be able to tie a few things together between the Abyss Order, Khaenri'ah and Dainsleif if you read The Pale Princess and the 6 Pigmies (the book the abyss mage said contained "the secret" during Lisa's quest), Breeze Amidst the Forest, the lore of Bloodstained Chivalry pieces (I think the hourglass is the most important), as well as watch Albedo's Collected Miscellany (you can skip to 4:15)
I’ve wanted to cover Albédos collected Miscellany multiple times, but I keep forgetting. I need to get around to it. As for the books, I’m currently working my way through all of them and making that into a video, so I’ll probably make my way to those connections eventually. Thanks for the tip!

Yo ain't andrius actually physically "dead" since he feel guilty for all the blizzard & what we fought is only his soul guarding mondstadt :))) that's why he just stay THERE n only summoned when we touch the sword.
dain feels like he detest deities but detest abyss more, I MEAN- he know venti n zhongli are archons, but he remain civils when talk about them, no hostility there like in albedo's miscellany, so I assume he respect those 2 on not abusing their godly status & make me think that what meant by him by gods/deities here are celestia. He hates adepti/people that blindly devote themselves archons & celestia though, he said it in ganyu's miscellany

There’s a few from Inazuma at the docks, the Sumeru scholar guy at the Favonius Library, and that Fontaine gentleman who lives in one of the Liyue restaurants (Liuli or Xinyue, I forgot), do any of them describe themselves as travellers 😮

Hmm, ur last point is valid. I think that Lumine said that she has "already explored Tevyat once, and that when Aether finishes his journey, he will see the truth." So it is possible that when Lumine was seeing Tevyat, she explored with Dainsleif

Hell yeah that quest is gonna be bigger than this one I think. The fact that it's an archon quest and it's called "We Will Be Reunited" makes me think it's gonna be fuckin huge. I'm pumped to cover it
I think the message that "the important part of finding your sibling is the journey" as Dainsleif says DOES apply to the MC as well. In the sense that you can only understand someone when you've walked a mile in their shoes. We need to see Teyvat the way Lumine did during the years they were apart, meet all its people, encounter all its gods, before we can understand WHY Lumine joined up with the Abyss and decide whether we will agree with her decision - and support her goals with the Abyss - or not.

he asks for 500 mora --> alludes to how khaenri'ah, his homeland, fell 500 years ago
Well, dainsleif if old, like more tha 500 years, he himself said that he is around 500 yo in venti and diluc collection vids, also he hate gods as every single person from khaenri'ah, he said that too in ganyu's collection vid too, dansleif was 500 years ago a royal guard of the great khaenri'ah kingdom, and about dainsleif power, his power is most likely what kept him alive for 500 years, its some sort of curse he has on his right arm ( black arm with blue marks), and even the name dainsleif , is the name of a cursed sword with immense powers, but to use it you have to give it a sacrifice, so that may explain dainsleif's powers, for the reason he hates the abyss that much, i recommand you to search for the origines of the abyss, suc it a very long story, great vid btw i enjoyed it, keep the great work

In the Question and Answer world quest one of the questions by the guard in front of the gates of Mondstadt named wan: "What is the proper term of address for a stranger in Mondstadt?" The answer is: "Strange yet respectable traveler"
This is really fun to watch now that 3.5 is about to come out and more Dain lore will be revealed.

17:00 Just a theory, when Dainsleif said "encroaches upon this world's very foundations" he might be referring to the laylines, and he is the brough keeper after all, it's his duty to keep the layline tree alive. But the layline is now being abuse by the abyss order to extract elemental power from the laylines therefor dainsleif is mad.
On the 500 mora thing. Well I think it's that we've payed the proverbial ferry man like in advance.
I think dain said what he said about vanessa soring cuz he also a puppet of celestia. He got controlled and now he oposses abyss(his family) cuz he got reprogramed. My theory

Idk if there is anything to do with this, but his costume design is similar to lumine/aether power vice. Both lumine and aether have star shaped holes that show the element theu are using ,like yellow for geo and green for anemo. Dainsleifs colour is dark blue, so that might be something else but even he has has those weird starshaped hole in his chest like lumine and a few that starts at the cape. Just an interesting detail, it could also be a subtle inclusion to show that he is related to the siblings .

So, here is my theory on this:
We know that Dainsleif is from Kaenriah and he is searching for our sister Lumine. As stated in the video, they were travelling parterns and we can guess they were prety close.
As we can see in the clip of Lumine in front of the city-like place being destroyed by the unknown god cubes, I say it's Kaenriah or at least some part of it (as Lumine has a big shock seeing the situation); now, thing is, Dainsleif hates the Abyss, but we can't say it did it because Lumine is with them so then why would she be with the guys that destroyed her home? (Has she been brainwashed? Don't think so)
Anyways, I can only theorize that Dainsleif missunderstood the situation, so he blames the Abyss when the Unkown god is the real culprit. With the 'no longer travels' quote I agree with you, I personally guess he thinks she is dead or at least missing? As he doesn't know or at least we don't thino he doesn't know the status of his friend.
Edit: On the 'I got some history' talking about thr abyss, I forgot about that (thanis Facepalthe3rd for that) so here is the thing: As said earlier Dainsleif got the things kinda wrong and blamed the Abyss for the destruction of his home and possiblly the murder of his friend, so then he swore to destroy the Abyss and all that. My onyl guess is that at least for 500 years he has been activly fighting against the Abyss, thus the 'got some history'. There is also the possibility that this fight was even before the Destruction of Kaenriah. So we got that there. Anyways when I come up with something I guess I'll put it on the edits parts
I've been reading comments on his beliefs and I think I got a pretty clear idea on that:
So, to summarize, he hates any being that sits higher than the human or at least think of itself as that (this is oretty rough in the edges). I also read that he has only the information he needed, so we can say that this 3rd "humanitarian" party is in support of Dainsleif, this is further confirmed with the quote 'I only know what I need to know' (something like that, was on the Herald talk or on the Andrius talk idr). I would also want to know where does the "Kaenriah believes in no god or higher entity" comes from, I can't recall something like that but I guess is only my memory. Coming back on the last quote we can confirm (or at least say) that he is just some type of agent in this party, as he only knows ehat the higher ranks need him to know to oroceed with his mission. All this is also related to the weird and ore meditated actions taken by him (the 3 questions and the 500 mora) so he could confirm that Aether was the guy (I only guess he was the person they were looking for as Whale said in some oart of the video).

Anyways, all the stuff I just wrote is not confirmed nor with any actual fact other than the twaser or cinematics, and my mind. I got my thoughts but those are some fan fics lmao.

I think something I should point out here is that Lumine, and by extension Aether, are not from Khaenri'ah. They are from another world entirely, where Khaenri'ah, as far as we know, is in the same world as Teyvat.
Second, and this is getting into territory we aren't too sure on, is that the abyss probably isn't the cause of what Lumine witnesses in "We Will Be Reunited." That is, most likely, and stress on "most likely," the cataclysm caused by Gold, someone from Khaenri'ah. So while you are right that the abyss probably didn't cause what we see, you're reasoning to get there is faulty.
The timeline for this game is extremely wonky, I'm still trying to learn half the shit that happens and in what order, so don't worry about getting anything wrong

Anyways, on your first paragraph, I think that when the opening scene of the twins fighting ends (with Lumine being consumed by the cubes) she is send to at least 500 years in the past (this refering to the 500yr apart theory).
We (or at least I) don't know if Aether or Lumine are inmortal of archon-like beings, as it's stated that they've traveled different worlds on their journeys. Anyways, Lumine gets there and, here it's a big speculation, we can say she starts searching for Aether (as we are doing). Now where does Dainsleif gets into this I don't know, but I can thinks of something along the lines of our story, but replacing Paimon for Dainsleif in some sort (note: I'm not saying Dainsleif is related to Paimo in any way; just saying that Dainsleif takes the role of the companion, as Lumine is the one searching her brother)
On the 2nd paragraph, yeah, I'm not really a pro so I can be faulty but, who is Gold? I know the lore but I never heard fo somethinf or someone named Gold, I don't play the game so I don't know if it's info from there, I would reslly appreciate if someone could tell me that.
On the 3rd paragraph and with the timeline I have my thoughts but it's already too long and I'ts gonna be messy to out the entire timeline or even the shortened one here.

@@aaa-np1hz 1.) Yeah that reasoning there is about right. The nature of Aether and Lumine is somehow still a complete mystery, although the idea of them being immortal isn't something I've thought about. I think most people have accepted that Dain was a travelling partner to Lumine at one point, but how that relationship fell out is yet to be seen.
2.) Gold is a name you won't come across without reading and researching. Gold was an Alchemist practicing Khemia, a kind of alchemy that's native to Khaenri'ah. At one point they became extremely greedy and craved power, and eventually lost control, corrupting themself and the rest of the world, causing the Cataclysm 500 years before the events of the game. So basically, when you hear Gold, think the reason why shit went down 500 years ago and why Durin (the dragon that fell in Dragonspine) was corrupted(note: in all mentions of Gold in the in-game literature, Gold is referred to with gender neutral pronouns.)

The problem is is that if we do ever fight Dain, which we don’t know if we ever will, it will be very very late into the game, like post Snezhnaya late. We can tell this based off of the Travail trailer. We won’t be fighting Dain for a loooooong ass time, so don’t get your hopes up
@@WhaleMilk the new boss in the trailers for 1.4 has very similar colors to dain.. and the new mystery bosses humanlike form is similar to childes setup.. well to me anyways. the new boss is the abyss boss if i rem correctly as well.. and dain mentions them in a cryptic way in the quest. hes the new 1.4 boss calling it now :3
@@kuromichan2355 Yes, the new boss is an abyss herald, the thing that Dain employs us to hunt for him in this quest. It wouldn't make sense for dain to have us hunt himself. Heralds are their own creature. Dain's color scheme being similar to that stems, most likely, from his close relationship to the abyss from his past, the thing that makes him detest the abyss like he does. So while there are connections, I doubt Dain is actually an abyss herald. That would be a twist and a half if he was
@@WhaleMilk ...ever wondered why they never found the monster on that hunt??quick reminder he didnt take them on that hunt, they showed up and suprised him...also he says in the quest, when asked by paimon why they have only seen human forms of the abyss order "theres a reason for that. its possible they may have been under orders to redirect your path" we are literally told right there the abyss order is trying to throw us off. he speaks in such condescending ways about the archons. just vague enough to miss.. easier to catch for some than others i guess. and was he really speaking badly about the abyss, or emphasizing their power? dainsleif is called " the bough keeper" "bough" literally means the "main and strongest branch of a tree" and what sorts of mats are dropped when abyss mages die? branches. before leaving he says smugly "dont worry, we will meet again." the second i saw the abyss heralds outfit, i knew it was him, no doubt. why introduce a character we wont see for a long time..? after rewatching the quest just now im certain. hey, i could be wrong.. but to me its blatant. . i guess we will see in a couple days
@@kuromichan2355 I will admit the bough keeper connection is something I really haven't thought of. I think it's a bit of a stretch, but we'll see. I think that Dain really does completely detest the abyss and isn't a part of the order, but some of the points you brought up I think do have some importance, maybe not to the extent of "he is a herald."
1.) They never found the Herald in that chapter because one, it wasn't finished, and two, the point of that quest wasn't to find the herald but instead to introduce dain to the larger playerbase and to the story.
2.) The person that gave the orders to redirect the travellers attention was most likely Lumine, as she is very high up in the abyss order, where Dain is completely against the order all together.
3.) The condescending tone in which he talks about the archons isn't vague at all, I'll agree with you on that, but it's more subtle and neutral than his tone towards the abyss. So saying that he detest the gods but is a part of the abyss is ignoring half of what he's saying. So either he's really good at lying or he really is against the abyss. If he is lying that I just think how they went about it is just not good writing.
4.) Abyss heralds, from how much we know, are not humans in any way shape or form. The only thing that makes them vaguely human is the fact that they are Bipedal, but the abyss mages are bipedal and we don't call them human. This point I have the least amount of information to back up, but I just feel like it's a stretch and a half to say that dain is the herald just based off of a color scheme.
But hey, you bring up some good points, lets see where this quest takes us. If I'm wrong I'll be sure to point this that out and bring up this conversation in the video where I play the quest ;)
