Have hit 140 in a stock sho! Great cars.
Like everyone else you should’ve done the headlights
sorry but im not subscribing to the other chanel as i h8 loads of diffa channels by the same person
That’s the 2nd generation sho
Hey guys left you guys a UA-cam link about Ford Taurus sho from ua-cam.com/video/5VTRhCC3gZI/v-deo.html
I would like to buy that ford Taurus sho
Absolutely gorgeous, would look so much better with headlights done
You guys should start including headlight restoration for a full detail
Ditto
Especially for the price they charge
Agreed and a interior shot would have been nice also
Yeah I was waiting for the headlight restoration and interior shots. I guess I won't be watching this channel after this one video. I own a 95' SHO.
@@mattp6992 yeah kinda aggravated me Also could have atleast showed the interior they showed this car no respect in my opinion
LOVE these old Taurus’! Especially the SHO.
The SHO intake runners were responsible for most of the high revs. The 5-speed manual version is really fun to drive. These cars were popular and fun in the 90s. Blue is very rare. Most are green with tan inside.
Your correct they made more green with tan interiors then any other color blue is rare but black with black interior is the most rare
I owned a 95 blue one. Had some punk kid in a junky blazer rear end me and killed it. Broke my heart.
@@Maverick8t88 You should have bought a 89-95 GL Taurus and used that body to bring it back to life it wouldn't be a SHO anymore "technically" It would be a clone but who cares......I have done this once with a 92 sho that was hit in the rear took me about 2 months of working on it a couple hours a day but when I was done you couldn't tell the difference all I had to source was a sho rear bumper
Out of his mind... this is a cool looking, if not beautiful, car. It has to be appreciated from a 90's perspective as it will not compare to modern cars. Also, it's pronounced S-H-O, not "show". It would be nice to see you guys get a Dodge Spirit R/T one day. Also a 90's (really 80's) looking car with a hot motor. 0-60 in 5.9 seconds in 1990. Competed with the SHO and was just stupid fast for its time.
As an sho owner the name show is more than acceptable and we all call them that anyways i own 4 btw
@@juicedmedia6623 Which gen? And which gen is your favorite?
@@shakymctwitch8615 so they had a 1st gen in 89 then a 1.5gen in 90 to 91 then second from 92 to 95 i think... I own all 1st gens two of which are one year only mocha frost only in 91 then a white one which is a plus model and a red one. Thats also my fave gen wish i could find a clean 89 to pick up though.
@@juicedmedia6623 ughhhhh so cool. I always loved the first gens. I'd have had a few too but every one that I ever came across was either sold before I got there or were just not in shape to be saved or kept. I'm jealous!
@@shakymctwitch8615 it hard to find good ones but when u do it is well worth it for the ride.. There not really fast by todays standards but they sound great and handle like a dream and if u really want to they will smoke the tires as long as u want them too
Do you do headlight restoration as part of the detail? This car looked like it could use it.
Looks really good but… you gotta do a headlight restoration to make it look amazing!
You guys didn’t do anything to the headlamps. Regardless you guy did great on the car
Absolutely Love That Year SHO. I Had The Same Color back In The 90s. Brings Back Fond Memories and it was one Hell Of A SLEEPER.
I have owned a few fox body 5.0 Mustangs and I think this car is beautiful. I think what adds to the look is knowing what the car is capable of. And the engine intake has to be one of the most gorgeous intakes ever on an engine. I think the SHO outperformed the 5.0 Mustang at 100 miles an hour and above. Sweet detail. Try to detail a T-Bird turbo coupe if possible.
One of the nicest looking production engines ever made!
I like the look of the engine bay tbh
Moonlight blue clearcoat metallic, unique to the sho for 94 and 95 only.
Alex here knows his stuff. For 92 and 93, the blue was darker called Royal Blue.
Hmm
This color was available from 92-95
This car actually has a very interesting history... The only reason it exists is due to the decision to axe Ford's Fiero competitor. They had a contract with Yamaha, who actually designed and manufactured the engine, to produce so many units a year. However, they didn't have an appropriate car to put it in (I guess the Probe was considered a flop by then), so they created the upscale SHO trim as a solution. Whatever your opinion of the styling is, 0-60 in 6.5 seconds from a naturally aspirated V6 with a 7300 rpm redline was damn impressive for the 80s and 90s.
I have heard the 7300rpm redline was actually down from 8500-9K RPM because Ford couldn't make accessories that spun that fast.
@@tjw8t1 Go see last week's Hagerty video about the SHO. That is addressed.
I believe that the SHO stands for super high output.
I've always heard it's a bad idea to try starting a car that has been sitting for years, without checking the oil and manually turning the engine over. Hopefully somebody there had told you that it had been started relatively recently.
That Chrysler New Yorker 5th Ave in the background is what I learned to drive on!
This Taurus is a legend, now that’s a classic sporty sedan, just turned out clean.
It’s a sapphire blue color and it’s gorgeous! 😃
I rented a Taurus SHO in Florida on 1999 while working there for 3 months and I liked it, it really ran with power. At home my dad used to own a Taurus station wagon during 1987 until 1991 it was great and comfortable.
It’s beautiful I had a 2013 Taurus I loved it so much it was a beast
This car is very smooth running, very gentle much at idle. Really can wind up at freeway speeds, easy passing.Top speed of 140mph. Automatic transmission has button on shifter to downshift for downhill, or zippy passing, long steep uphill grades. Air conditioning is great too. Handling twisty mountain roads with ease.
Transplant this engine into a Taurus wagon, that would be a fun family adventure car.
I love the way it’s look
I owned a 94 exactly like this one; moonlight blue over gray interior. Loaded with all options including "luxury package" (full leather, power passenger seat) moonroof, JBL, CD player. As requested in the video, something interesting about the engine is that the manuals had a 3.0 and the automatics got the 3.2 version to boost the torque a bit. This car is NOT ugly, at least for early 90s sake. It's direct competition at the time was the Spirit R/T, Pontiac Grand Prix and Nissan Maxima.
Love the Taurus SHO!
Why does everyone neglect to restore the headlights? I see this happen all the time and I just don't understand why! It's really not that difficult.....😕
Great job on the detailing. The Taurus looks take a little getting used to and, while the looks may not be my cup of tea, the performance of these cars was unbelievable for the time.
The v8 sho sounds really good
This one is one to hold on to! True American Auto Icon. Ford Taurus is a great car especially this Sport model.
I have 2 of these sitting in my backyard that havent been started in 10 years. My favorite 2 cars in the world and will never get rid of them
If you love them so much don't let then just sit and waste away
Love this car…Fo’ SHO!!!!
Beautiful car. Not like the cars that come out nowadays which is boring and square this actually had curves love it I've had one of these cars and to this day one of the best cars I've owned
When that second CAM kicks after 5k rpm 5 speed of course...best sound ever
This was the original sleeper car. I LOVE these SHOs.
Fact - they test revved these engines to 8500+ RPM for 24 hours. But They were limited to 7000 RPM from the factory to spare the accessories.
I remember back in the early 90s definitely one of the coolest cars to own because of how fast it was at the time.
This SHO is CLEAN! ❤
LOVE SHOs !!
It started because it is a Yamaha engine and not a raggedy Ford engine
I think it's a cool car. The color is awesome.
Car came out awesome...the headlights are making it look sad ☹
i love tuning car😍👍😍🔥🔥👍👍
Not a fan of the look but, having driven one, Im a big fan of the performance for money. I'd still buy one today if the price was right.
Yamaha engine baby! This is the twin to my matching 95’s. I had a 95 GL and 95 SHO same color too.
Excellent work wd yeah i gotta agree wit rj on this one😂😂😂😂😂 its a classic doe
I think the car looks pretty good personally they seemed to be fun cars back then 😊
These were bad ass cars back then. I still would like to get my hands on one
Awesome Job Boys! Love The Blue!
Robo cop was a 1st gen not a 2nd gen......these cars are gorgeous and fun to drive
He says it's ugly. He's entitled to his opinion of course. But there was a reason why this car was used for all of the movies about the future. In comparison this car was cutting edge in it's time.
Nice Nice TAURUS FORD DID A OK JOB I LIKE THE 2013 TAURUS
Have always one wanted one of these
Love the car because big fan off robocop that’s why I love this car
The last SHO that I detailed was in 2012 when I worked at a Ford dealership in Richmond, Virginia
One of my favorite cars of all time.
I think it was a good effort on Ford’s part. I would have like to see a better ground effects kit on it, but otherwise I think they did good
Great video but you guys forgot the headlights! They are so glaringly yellow, could have taken an extra 15-30 minutes to really improve the overall look
I own a 1994 🌝 moonlight blue sho. Its my daily driver. I love ❤️ it. Where is this sho in the video now?
Those 4D cars was bad-A… along with the Probe. I love them still.
Nice color
I love that car!!
I just bought my first vehicle(I’m 17)and I’m a huge Ford fan, I wouldn’t say I love the look but I do like it. The car I bought is red 2010 Mercury Milan which for the most part is a rebadged Ford Fusion. It has a 3.0 as well, but it makes 240hp.
It looks like Moonlight Blue that Ford used in the 90's. My 98 F150 was this color with Silver on the lower end. I liked that Ford was trying to bring performance back when these cars were being made.
So amazing :)
👌👌👌
i like the color
I drive a Kona blue 6th gen taurus and i remember my mom telling me when i was younger about how they used to own one and my dad loved it. Not as much as the thunderbird he had. But after getting a 6th gen and starting my first car build which definitely wasnt the easiest choice considering we dont have any aftermarket support. I want one of these SHO's
i love these cars but i like the first gen even better
The 2nd gen has Sable headlights and turn signels, much better looking than 1st gen
Fun fact (that I’ve heard before at least) is that the redline on this engine is over 1k higher than specified. The redline that these cars have from the factory is because engine mounted accessories couldn’t handle anything higher
I have a 2010 limited edition ford taurus :) love it but definately want the 2013 performance version
Nice car nice job👍
great work wish you guys where in this area so i could our three cars done
Nice...👊🏻
It's not a handsome looking car but I love the color. It just matches the car 👌🏽❤🗣
I would love to have a car like that even though it’s a Ford and I like the fact it’s an automatic
I actually liked the Taurus back in the day. I had a ford Taurus wagon the same blue color as this one. Drove it forever then gave it to my mother to drive and she drove it for years right up until she died. The thing had over 300 thousand miles. For all I know it could still be on the road somewhere. lol In my opinion, they were decent built cars. Looks were just mediocre. A current friend of mine has a 90s Ford Escort wagon and has used it as her daily driver for at least ten years or so. Great vid guys as always!
This is a dream car of mine I want a Dark Green Automatic
The one thins I know more of bc I live the intake it’s there’s 2 runners per cylinder, ones longer than the other the short one is for higher speeds (RPM) the other is for normal driving
I believe the SHO motors were built by Yamaha.
The definition of a “sleeper “ sedan
The engine is a work of art, while the rest of the car subdued. That Is the charm of it. I doubt these guys werent even born yet, so they really can't Fully understand its significance. This blue and the green are my favorite choices on this vehicle specifically.
I love you videos
I have a silver 95 SHO manual w/42k mi. Bought from original owner. To this day still a fun car to drive. Many of them slipped into disrepair because engine maint can get expensive. However, if properly maintained they will go well over 150k, even push over 200k miles. The engine is so visually satisfying to look at. The last generation SHO (although all around a better car?) is a bit too refined. 1st & 2nd generation SHOs were more raw w/wicked torque steer. Way fun to drive. The V8 SHO was a bit of a disappointment. Added just a few subtle mods to my car to enhance looks & performance. 1 1/2 lowering springs, subtle performance exhaust. Cat still looks stock with the slightly reduced ride height & exhaust is still very quiet & it exits almost similar to the OEM exhaust.
No to mention it literally set the bar for modern sedans everywhere.
Just need to get some tire valve-stem caps and you're ready to roll. Looks amazing 👏
Ford Sedans here in Australia in the 1990s were awesome. We had EB,ED,EF,EL,XG,XH,AU,NC
Some of these sedans came out with 4.0L OHC inline 6 or 5.0L Windsor V8, 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual
👍👍👍👍👍👍
I have been a fan of the first three generations of SHOs for years. People would chid me for my love of these cars. Nowadays they are highly sought after. I saw a 1995 SHO for sale in my area for $29,000. I wish I had bought one like 12 years ago. I could have probably gotten it for like 5K back then.
The SHO is the original sleeper sedan , this was Ford most expensive car they ever developed. I've owned 2 of them 1994 , 1992 . I still own the 92 . Go fast green on both of them . I only drive it very rarely and people still rubber neck . Good investment car , only going up .
Too bad he didn’t get you to do those headlights too!
I have had 3 of them fun cars
We had the same car released over here in the UK it was called the Ford Sierra and soon became known as the jelly mould because of its looks...again we were not happy with the performance but instead if sending it to Yamaha and getting the SHO we ended up with the Sierra Cosworth and a legend was born!:))
WD Detailing Clips subscriber # 75.
Why you don't polish the front lights , this is not a great job .
At the time, this thing shocked the world. It was as fast as the Ferrari Mondial and did better in the skid pad. It beat the M5 in a Car and Driver comparison. I would own one again in a second. I owned a 95 blue one with a 5 speed. Lousy teenager rearended me and killed it. It was a total sleeper and would absolutely hang with Mustangs of the period all day. Put that Shogun engine in something lighter and you’ve got an absolute rocket. Put an exhaust package on it and it sounds like a baby Ferrari.
I am literally crying right now to see “my” car restored like this. Thank you.
Aww cool ,this was the model of my husband's first car ......he had the 3.2 I think it was ( one of the unique features as well !! ) lol it was Green I think lol!!!! omg he put so much money into that car lol... but man I thought he was so hot, and had such a cool car lol... and it honestly was part of the attraction I had for my husband lol. It's been 20 years now lol, so I guess the SHO worked huh ? lol God we loved this car back in the day lol
Royal blue
He has a lot of Car 🚗 , not just car , Expensive
We need to see BMW E60 pleaseeeee
It had a lot of power and it had heads up display
Was the painted Taurus emblem a SHO thing?
Yes it was for the SHO only.
Assuming it runs/drives, you should rescue that poor Lumina next! (if I'm identifying the front grille correctly, that should be a 1990 model in Euro trim (red on grey interior)?
This is a Gen 2 taurus. The Robocop car was just an early production 1st gen Taurus. It was considered very futuristic for 1986. The Robocop Taurus wasn't a SHO. They used the "grille" from the police version for the additional air flow. It's a total sleeper for it's day. I think they look great! He needs to drive one (5 speed version).
