To watch a former race track be brought back to life, especially in this era, is a real treat. Good job everyone!
In factories where there is heavy traffic, they use gasoline to put on the final trowel finish. It hardens the surface of the concrete tremendously. (And turns it black)
It really works well and is a good cheap way to do a hard finish to slow wear down a lot.
Really? I didn't know that. Most high traffic areas in Arizona just higher psi concrete with a glass or brushed finish depending on usage.

I love how this went from doing some basic landscaping and cleaning bleachers to full on repaving the entire in field and a concrete burnout pad. Glad to see things starting to come together. Really happy for you guys keep up the good work.

To be fair, this was always the plan, he just got to accelerate it, because generous people stepped up to help him out in a big way (316 Speed, as per his admission). I won't be shocked to see them repave the whole outer oval when the budget recovers from this.

@@michaelreynolds1904 down south they can get away from using steel mesh or rebar...in freezing climates its required...doubles the price.
Joe Dugas Rebar and mesh is not for freezings but rather to make the slab stronger and help mitigate cracking, locking etc. you can use fiber glass reenforced concrete to not use rebar and mesh but the best way to make a strong long lasting slab like the burn out pad is fiberglass reinforced concrete and mesh and put in precrack lines or expansion joints.

When it's all finished you need to talk to formula drift about having an event there. Congrats on all this brother!!! Great thing for the community there.
FD is based out of set tracks such as Long Beach, Atlanta & Orlando. They don't really set competitions at other tracks. Its been the same track routine for quite a few years now.
@@Bataleon2320 they're losing The Wall in NJ after 2020 so they'll need another track/venue. I'm not saying itll be the freedom factory at all, but it could be a slim possibility.
Not sure about FD but there are so many other drift comps what will run here
@@Bataleon2320 It was the same way with Nascar but due to the fans demand for several years they changed the schedule. In 2018 we got the Charlotte Roval and the schedule has had small changes every year since.

I did blacktop for years, brings back memories. We did a airport -private- and all kinds of paving. We once did a golf course where we dumped on a huge tarp then skid loaders carried the asphalt to the paths.

I personally think when the concrete slab is done to get the freedom factory logo painted in the middle 🤷🏻♂️ but it’s gonna get covered in burnouts but I think it’s a good idea

Know what would be cool is if in the center of the burnout pad the concrete was colored the color of the logo in the logo was written out in concrete in the dye color but that is extremely simple but that would be cool if the actual concrete that was poured the section was the logo in the color of the concrete that was poor in that section but that is extremely extremely extremely expensive insanely expensive but that would be cool and I would not imagine even get hurt do that anyway to get the right dyed Concrete in the right spot and not fill it over and do it right and that would be cool but let me tell you I had a buddy of mine do a driveway in different colors cuz his wife wanted it that way and it cost him seven times as much as it would have normally cost to pour a driveway

Ii can't believe it's taken ma a year to watch this construction part of the conversion series. Probably because I spent many years is construction. But I just had to come here and say what a top notch crew bossman has assembled. So many times I've seen lazy crews trying to stretch out a job. But these boys were on the ball. Not only do they respect their boss, but they obviously respected the project & all got behind it. Great work!
Line the edges with concrete.a lit. Footer around the asphalt.....think about it.like curbs keep the asphalt from gettin loose.it cant slowly bleed into the soft soil..i did all the dirt work where u put the tailings. God bless yall for bringing our race track back.it just awesome what yall have done.

Pour some concrete curbing on the infield corners. It will save the asphalt and keep the track looking clean by keeping drifters from blowing out the grass. Nice 30 degree curbs would kill
Zakie Chan yeah certain kinds of people really don’t have respect for tracks and chew up grass bad , like dude you already fell off the track. No need to show off and chew up the grass to pretend you saved the drift. I see stuff like this quite often and it’s why a lot of tracks don’t let drifters in on top of it being hard on old asphalt big time.
So instead, totally wreck the cars? Pretty sure grass is cheaper then fixing all the possible damage this could cause to the cars.

Redoing the entire track is the best option the migrate further water damage, You can see all of the cracks on the surface, The amount of water that flows under it is why there are tons of pot holes and damage in the track already, Patches do not work, Never have, That is why people hate it when they do patch jobs they end up worse after the fact.
With the new asphalt on the track blocking previous water routes will create more damage above creating pockets of water that will flush out fine sediment and sooner or later will cause an area to hollow out until enough force/weight is applied to the asphalt and collapse creating a new pot hole, While that new hole will cause more damage.

Also, Yes to the SxS track with all the excess dirt. You have more than enough property and the noise is a non-issue, and since you already have the greatest playground for paved stuff, why not have a sweet SxS track? Talk to someone to design a freestyle/circuit layout (you have more than enough dirt) and go to town!

Every one of these episodes on the FF end up making me so emotional, I’ve been watching since you guys were still worrying about the rocker panels on Leroy. It feels like you guys have came so unbelievably far and done so much awesome shit with so many stories to tell with every car and person. The thought of being able to finally come to an event and see you guys in November makes me actually tear up, so excited!
