Just get a true security system please. Wouldn’t want someone breaking in.

      I knew this video was coming. Grind it off and resurface it. When I first saw the track with all the weeds growing up between the grooves I knew the structural integrity of the surface was compromised. It was only a matter of time. Do not be surprised when they start to work on it and it opens a can of worms.

    • @fordrac1ng81
      @fordrac1ng81 3 роки тому +59

      So, the problem with that is that it snowballs. If you pave, you need to fix the base layer before laying new asphalt. So then you're cutting and patching things anyway before laying down a new layer or you're grinding 6" of asphalt off. This makes his bleachers look like a drop in the bucket.

    • @james3429

      @@Ajaxx1989 It'd easily be a 10 million dollar job to redo the whole track properly. Grinding up the old track, patching the bedding correctly, and relaying the pavement seems simple, but the labor in the job to do it right would be way more than you'd think.

    down here at Homestead we use products like Polygem Fast Track 500 or Pavemend SLQ to repair smaller holes in the track surface, Streetbond for asphalt surfaces just starting to erode or degregrade and small cracks. we also cut the asphalt seams and fill them with Craftco to keep water from getting under and eroding the substrate. None of this will fix your crater but it might help some of your other problem areas from getting worse. the Polygem and SLQ are great for race day fixes, good to go within an hour.

      I’m pretty sure that’s definitely part of it. This track hasn’t seen a race like the 2.4 hours of lemulletts in years. Plus like others are saying it’s a track from the 70s. It’s is old and is kinda brittle. Owning a track is not cheap, Cleetus knows that, but he’s got a big enough audience and sponsors to help pay for all of this.

    Brother the 2.4h of LeMullets was worth every penny. My mullet was tingling all week, it knew something epic was coming! One suggestion I have is please consider doing some more interviews after the race. I know you're all probably tired and want to start the after party but all of us at home are still on the edge of the seat and want to know what the other drivers had to say. Also I was kinda bummed that quite a few of the guests were not interviewed at all. I would've loved to hear some thoughts on it from derek and Freiburger, Kyle, adamLZ and others. Of course I love the florida crew but spence kept circling back to his peers instead of talking to some of the guests during his interviews.

    Super cool event man! As for the pot holes you mentioned you filled and sunk......I’m a contractor and build pools and do tons of concrete work as well. If rebar will work and strengthen concrete then 🤷‍♂️...... example, if you are going to patch a 4 inch hole, fold rebar to mirror the hole and wire tie stubs to sit on the packed soil at 2inches (middle) then pour. Or, this may be over kill, but drill holes in the surrounding asphalt at 2 inches (middle) shove rebar in an inch or so then bend downward towards the middle of the hole until it touches soil. “Rebar and wire Tie” better then duct tape 😂, you will be able to drift all day on that patch and guarantee it won’t sink👌.
