@@jdenotter26 Did you notice how it had factory 370 wheels? If that thing was making the power to pass a ZR1 the fact he was able to keep it on the track for 2.5 races is something. If he had a wheel tire setup that could actually handle that power I bet that same driver could have been one of the winners
That Z was moving squirrely every race. Not surprised it ran the wall, happy nothing serious.
A 370 Z’s only chance at winning against those cars is to be absolutely on the limit. I was nervous that he might collect something more exotic, but he drove that car well. In a spec race class, he’d be wreckers or checkers.
He was blocking and risking contact, which was strictly prohibited. I'm glad he crashed out.
Probably did major damage, there would be all kinds of stuff in the suspension that would be bent after that. Even after everything is replaced I doubt the suspension geometry will be correct.

His driving reminds me how the characters who can't drive are depicted in racing movies. Banging off the limiter, having no feel for the limit of the car, snapping from understeer to oversteer and losing control on the straights.
I love the fact that even though you had emergency crews and everything in case of accidents, you were still the first one to Austin making sure he was okay. Now that’s a real track owner!

We learned our lesson with "free" charity events, too. Used to run a wine-tasting event - had a couple thousand tickets claimed and only about 300 showed up. Started charging a small entry fee to ensure more of those tickets got used, and it worked.
Yup, even a dollar would be enough to deter most people.
Not quiet the same thing but I have experienced this trying to sell stuff on eBay, idiots buy things and only when they are asked to pay for it they say they dont want it and you have to go through the whole process again to try and sell it, its infuriating.

I hate to say it but that Nissan on lap one was flirting with a crash, same with lap two, and then made it happen lap 3. Tough break! Glad he’s okay though. Some suspension work and that thing would’ve been a heck of a competitor

I don't know why the hell he'd keep going, did the same thing every time just couldn't save it the last time. I was especially worried about the corvette, why would you keep going against that z if he is losing it every lap he does...

I think the corvette driver just didnt want his car into the wall as much as the 370z did.
More that he didn't want an idiot in a 370z taking out his corvette. The corvette runs much faster laps on other rounds.

The Corvette knew the 370 driver would wall it. He was all over the place and pushing up in the corners. It was only a matter of time. He was banging the rev limiter all the way through turn 2 in his runs. Too much car, not enough brains.

He raced several rounds without incident and still had no contact with another car. When you're on a race track, every car is a liability.

The free ticket thing can be solved by having it $10 ticket, but it’s also worth a $10 food voucher so it’s effectively free, but people have something lose for not showing up.

Concessions are how most tracks make their a good part of their money, so it's somewhat unlikely that they'd discount down food.
$5 a head would be reasonable... But honestly when that place is sold out it's shoulder to shoulder so being slightly under capacity is actually best for the fans.
Or keep em free and have unlimited tickets online but it's first come first serve at the door.

Cleetus, that was a fast 370Z but that guy drove it harder than of the other. Hell if he would have been in any of those faster cars he would have won. Nobody pushed their vehicles like this guy. Please have him back on the channel somehow, he has talent that would be fun to explore.

I could see half of people getting free tickets not showing up and commented on it the last video. Just peeked in the livestream and the second I saw the 370z I knew he would crash into an opponent or the wall.

Honestly he should have just halved the original price right from the start, $15 an entry is the sweet spot of letting pretty much everyone afford to go but especially if you buy like 3 tickets it's enough money to make you actually feel like not wasting it, do like first 100 tickets $10, rest $15 and he should be set
$10-20 all dam day for any major event you have. Especially for people pushing their cars to the limit, those that will complain simply broke any dam way!

I got a little footage of that truck that I'll have up later this week, that thing was so cool, it was turbo'd and the owner was the chillest guy every. Even with blown turbo seals he brought it down and sent it for the fans!
It seems from the comments that everyone would rather see fast cars drive 40% throttle around the track than people actually pushing it and be entertaining.
The three 370z runs were by far the most exciting runs.
Spectator drags are exciting for that reason.
Just happy that Z didn't take out another car along with it. He was driving recklessly and almost caused that vette to rear-end him when he got loose for no apparent reason; maybe trying to drift at the finish line? I wouldn't let him back on the track until he can demonstrate a few safe laps solo and continue to demonstrate safe laps with another car. Judging from the mis-matched body panels this wasn't his first mishap.
Also next time you do a free event you should charge a 10 or 15 Dollar minimum that can be redeemed for a credit toward concessions or merchandise, that will reduce the number of people that don't show up ....

Cleetus was making the point that literally anyone could get the tickets online with no intention of using them.

How about some "endurance" races where the opponents start from the opposite sides (180 degrees) of the track? The winner is the driver who catches up to the other driver, or gets closer to the other car after like 10 laps. This way they cant wreck the other person's car and go full ham with the racing lines.

Or just run an enduro, and possible school bus races, demo derby. Tracks make big money off that.

You’re learning and doing an awesome job at running a race track. My boss cares so little about his race track (Sunset Speedway Banks Oregon) my tow truck hasn’t completed an event this year. I walked off mid show the other day because it wouldn’t stay running and when it was needed it wouldn’t even push a race car. 15 years of my life gone.
Have never seen one of your videos before. Watched that old cop car do a rolling burnout around the ENTIRE track and had to sun. Absolutely amazing keep up the great content and events guys
That Z was all over the place. Very clearly didn't have the grip to do what he was trying to do the whole time. I bet anyone on the outside of him was scared he would understeer right up into them.
He was driving the hell out of that car, the cars he was beating should have dusted him but didn't.
Yeah he was all over the place probably because he wasn't used to the track and was pushing the car to its limit
I feel like the tires where definitely worn or cheap. When he got heat into the tires started to get squirrelly.
That 350z was full send every time. But HO-LEE, you'd think after 3 close calls they'd change their driving, or realize they didn't have the tires for it.

You could tell the tires were starting to lose grip. They got too hot or all the laps just killed the right front. Not the first to kill a car in spectator drags and definitely won’t be the last.
Might also remember to shift after rev-limiting entirely through 2 turns

I wouldn't be encouraging that, it was anything BUT good driving. All the rounds for the 370 shown here were shit, and putting others at risk. imo. good for the 'show' maybe.

Looked like a really fun event. Loose driving is great for spectators, but I bet the ‘Vette guy was wishing the z was black flagged. To get away from the wheel to wheel element (to keep the exotic boys coming back), what about each car starting 1/2 of a lap apart? One on the back straight and one at the start finish. Would allow drivers to really push it without the risk of taking out other competitors? Would have loved to have a go myself, but I’m stuck in merry old England ☹️
A "chase" setup is actually a super good idea! I've done it before, you get the thrill of racing someone without the risk of contact.
Also I agree on the 370z dude - free was fast because he was driving 11/10ths, where everyone else was leaving a little on the table. I would have had a word and told him to back it off a touch after the first loose lap :/

I like how clean everybody races and do thier best to give each other room. I'm in Canada and the wife and I are thinking about planing a trip down there. Was gonna fly but think we will drive when we do and plan it so we can come to the spectator drags and possibly enter it if this becomes a regular thing. I absolutely love watching online. Everyone there racing did a great job and again, I loved seeing the respect the drivers was showing each other on track. Very inviting. You never know what comes up tho, I had family pass away right before the Indy event, gave the tickets away. The guys that took the tickets had someone run a red light on the way and got t boned.

Spectator drag crashes happen all the time, my buddy watched a guy slam a mint 69 chevelle right into the wall at one of them, could hear a pin drop in the stands right after it happened.
I love how people have respect for the freedom factory and keeps it a clean race and don’t leave their garbage all over. The old track we used to have here in Utah would have garbage everywhere mid race and people would get mad about losing or something and intentionally crash or start fights.

That burnout the 370 did after the Marauder race is what did him in. Killed them tires *way* too early.
imo there should be separate spectator drag classes, real dailys/beaters then sports/exotic cars, makes it more competitive
i think the trailer queens shouldn't have been allowed to compete, at least not against the rest of the field, but if you drove it there, i think its fair game. as you seen that little Z was keeping up with the sports and exotics and their is no way that wouldn't have made it into the real daily class as you call it, classes and everything, all of a sudden its not spectator drags and its called drag racing
That only works if you want to have a full tech and it turn into a whole big thing, otherwise you'd get somebody with a LS miata on semi slicks just not even have to try against anything in its 'class'
Better off just doing it like they did, everything figures out who they want to race and after the first few you know how fast everyone is so you can line like with like up to have some close races. It's not a tournament with a prize pool or anything, it's all just for fun
They should've just banned the trailer queens. That goes completely against the whole premise of spectator drags.

He over drove the hell out of that thing. Kudos to him for pushing against a way more capable car, but those stock 370 wheels and tires are not set up well for grip. If you want to make a Z car excel at what it already does well, you put wider wheels and tires on it. It was still impressive to see him launch it and hold its own with a true super car 🤙🏻
That 370 is impressive, definitely needs more traction and then I bet that thing would fly through those corners

If anyone got tickets knowing you wouldn’t be able to go, shame on you. Things come up and I get it that people can’t make it sometimes but half? Kind of sad.
I was meaning to ride all the way down on motorcycles with a few friends.. but work came up.. Couldn't beat the 2x overtime money. But yes, I did waste a couple free tickets and feel horrible for anyone that wanted them and missed out.

ive seen worse come back out same day at drift events but yea insurance will laugh at him if he trys to make a claim

Very cool event, and honestly I think it's super neat that you give some context and talk about what you've learned from organizing events at the Factory. It really helps put things into perspective for the folks who don't get to race often or maybe want to see things get wild. Love seeing the success. Keep lettin er eat, Cleet
At the end of the day its an amazing journey so far to see everything you have improved since buying the Freedom Factory. I truly appreciate all the hard work you and the entire team put in to make awesome events. Running a track and promoting the events is not always easy but if there is anybody who has what it takes to be a great track promoter you definitely have it. I can not wait to make a visit for an event there sometime, it would be well worth the trip from MA.
