Amazing and encouraging development. I’m glad that my country exports cheap, green, electricity to Kenya.🇪🇹❤️🇰🇪 I’d just like to leave one humble advice. The lady mentioned that these bikes are “for Kenyans”, why limit yourselves? This product would be very popular in Ethiopia and other neighbouring countries, where these bikes could easily be shipped to on trucks. Wish you a successful future! 👍🏾
I’ve been following this company for years so it makes me happy to see it covered here. It would be nice to see Roam’s products in Jamaica instead of having all of our busses and motorcycles coming from Asia all the time. Now that Wode Maya is settled in Kenya, maybe he will decide to do a feasibility study for the Jamaican market and set up a trading company to ship Roam and other Kenyan products to Jamaica if any of the connections he made during his visit last year are interest in a distribution deal. In doing so, he could video document processes involved that average people don’t understand like shipping, duties, taxes, working with the African Export-Import Bank, dealing with customs, etc. Just last week, Jamaica reduced its import duties on EV motorcycles from 20% to 10% and we have a well-developed microfinance lending sector so Roam and other motherland EVs should be welcome here. Even if profits are skinny to begin with, product diversity and developing long-term trade links with other African countries bring immeasurable benefits. Just dreaming out loud…
I truly believe that one of the ways Africa can become a major player in the EV space is to create batteries right here in Africa. Majority of the cost of an EV is in the battery and Africa supplies about 20% of the world's lithium. Let's come together and produce African EV batteries which we can export to the entire world
Watching from Botswana, this is beautiful, amazing stuff. But more care should be taken to ensure staff has proper safety equipment. I observed that some guys are not wearing proper shoes. Well done Kenya ❤️
