  • Flying with students as a career provides minimal opportunities to fly the aircraft. Periodically, flight instructors need to take out an aircraft and hone their skills. The flight in this video is a practice session. We recorded both video and audio to aid in an effort to enhance internal instructor training.
It is presented for informational purposes only.
Autorotations in this video are conducted at Max Gross Weight of 3200lbs.

Used to play with these when i worked as a mechanic for island helicopters in ny. Pilots would let me fly them on test flights all the time. was actually getting good. 15 years there I think I could still do it. but coming in to land at 34st was scary.

...and you make it all look so extremely easy and calm and relaxed....Brilliant. Only ever been an enthusiastic passenger, but would love to have been a helicopter pilot. (Mind you, I suspect I would not have made auto's look that easy!). I still think the Bell Jet Ranger is one of the 'prettiest' and best looking helicopters ever designed. An E-Type Jaguar of the helicopter world, and as for the sound of that turbine coming to life and smell of jet fuel......hhmmmm.

Nice video. This instructor would make anyone feel safe. Btw, someone told me that the 206 has the best safety record in the world when it comes to helicopters. Is this true?

Great video, but although the aircraft was at MAUW, I didn't get much sense of what difference that made to if it was P1 alone with half fuel, say.
