Thank you to the Heatblur Team and Testers involved in developing this module. Preorder the F-4E Phantom II: store.heatblur.com/products/dcs-f-4-phantom-1
Nice, it's great to see it in action. Glad HB let you guys get to it, so you could show it off. I'll say I'm ready. I have a four day weekend coming that week, so I know what I'll be doing. It also looks fairly complete, which is good news. Nothing worse than getting module that can't do much or has limited functionality on EA release. So I look forward to learning this one inside and out.
This is the first Heatblur aircraft I purchased a few days ago and can't wait to get my hands on it! In Turkey, it's still used and called 'Baba' meaning father. I saw a pair of ship of these ugly kings taking off two months ago. No words to describe the rumbling sound that shook me to the bone. Thank you for the one of the best descriptions in here. It's a content!
A phenomenal, phantastic, and great review/preview of the Phantom! Thanks for making this man, looking forward to putting those J79s in burner and zoom climbing the F-4!
I needed to watch this video twice. The first time it was just admiration for the great work of HB. The second time was needed to understand what was actually happening on the screen. I can't wait for this bird to appear in my hangar.
I also noticed this behavior(getting noticeably heavier during AAR) in other aircraft, but particularly in the F-14. Which ofc is also a Heatblur aircraft. I've trained AAR far more than I did anything tactical with the F-14. I would usually try to fill up my almost empty internal tanks as well as two entirely empty external tanks. The amount of thrust you would have to add by that, from start to finish, as well as the amount of increase of AOA/pitch up trim is significant.
i don't think that's tied to both being HB aircraft but rather to the fact they take a lot of fuel compared to ED full fidelity aircraft like Viper, Hornet, Tiger.. just a guess though
@@almightyIrie I may have phrased it a bit unclear. This effect whilst refueling in the air is ofc universal physics and has nothing to do with HB in particular, or any developer who got this behavior right as well. I just wanted to point out that it feels very well modelled. And that HB did a great job there, maybe an even better one than other developers, since Tricker pointed that out so specifically. But in my opinion I think the A-10C II and the other aircraft that I have flown actually react kinda similar. But you are right. Maybe it is more noticeable in the Tomcat because it can take so much fuel.
@@new-kv8pl Time To Penis, basically if you give any gaming community an ability to express themselves they will eventually draw a penis, and the time it takes till someone does that is what TTP means.
Looks great, and the internal sounds are great, can't wait to redeem my pre-order code. Have to say though, those external sounds are... interesting. Especially at taxi speeds. Sounds more like an EV than a jet engine!
Excellent video. Really well done.I have mine pre-ordered 😎.Ever since I was a kid, I thought that the F4 and the F5 were easily the best looking aircraft ever. Still the best😎✅
Calm, collected and professional! Awesome preview, perfect way of showcasing the F-4 for the first time. Im also looking forward to more and maybe some tutorials too :D
I can't wait to try many of the things showcased in this video. I'll make sure I learn how to takeoff, land, and navigate, but among the first things I've wanted to try to understand is that dive toss bombing mode. Thanks for showing how it can be setup with Jester. I think it'll be quite fun delivering the huge bomb loads that the Phantom II can carry.
Man i could smell the diesel smoke coming out of those beautiful sexy cans. HB once again did their job lets hope ED will keep it up. This preview was extra Special...that radio voice never gets old brother.
Super hype-inducing stuff right here. Can't wait to try her out. But are you sure you need the "bombing computer" for D/T? Manual states: "The target can be approached from any direction, airspeed, and dive angle, and the WRCS computes the proper release point relative to the acquired track, munition drag coefficient setting, and any release advance control input (in conjunction with AWRU settings)."
@@TrickerDCS That is correct...and i just noticed that drag coefficient changes based on the intended profile. I assumed it to be a fixed value for each type of bomb.
Nice WTD (Test Center) Skin in the beginning, saw that bird live on the Phantom Phlyout in 2013. Really looking forward to that Module. Thanks for rising the joy!
I was thinking the same thing! So excited to finally receive German liveries in DCS. Also nice to see a fellow DCS player who knows and has been to Manching ;)
Beautiful landing! Had to practice mine for a few hours before I got it "OK". Was not interested in buying this module at all but I still bought it one bored evening and it's a super cool and fun module even for those who aren't coldwar fanatics.
@@TrickerDCS It was drastic to me, because it was my first real refuel in DCS and I went from 1,100lb fuel on board to 11,000lb fuel on board. I have weird priorities. I tried landing the Harrier INSIDE the Tarawas hangar bay before I tried refueling. Great vid, though. I can't wait to do stupid heavy loads and asymmetric nightmares in the Phantom next week.
@@TrickerDCS I feel like this happens with every module that's capable of aerial refueling since I would think the flight model would take into account the weight of the aircraft as you added more weight to it with fuel. I just think that subconciously while you're refueling and doing the required throttle movements your throttle moves up slowly in terms of it's "rough" center position without you really noticing. It might just be more prounounced on the F-4E in particular. Ejecting the canopy along with Jester could help with weight reduction though!
The Skin is an actual replica of the Phantom Phlyout from the German Airforce. It was painted for the last flight in service back in 2014. Worked on the Sister which was painted blue and gold. Was the first to enter Service and the last to retire. The Black and Orange pattern is dedicated to the flight test team for the F-4F II Phantom from the german Airforce.

I got a couple flights in last night finally. All in all about what I expected, which is a very good thing. A couple observations… - On my first landing, which was a bit rough at Creech but certainly nowhere near as hard as a carrier landing, Jester makes a comment about needing the undercarriage replaced and then I find out I have no brakes. Now, I’m an old US Navy carrier guy. I’m used to planes that get slammed on a pitching deck all day long. That little tap and I lose my brakes??? C’mon, man! - I didn’t look too hard cuz I was wanting to get in the air and I knew I had yet to spend an hour or more setting up the controls, but all I saw were skins for either USAF jets or allied nation jets. Nothing from the United States Navy. I mean, the thing was designed and built as a FLEET defense aircraft for the US Navy. They have six skins for the USAF Thunderbirds, but not one navy skin. What is up with that? As an ex-US Navy flight deck veteran that actually served on a carrier that still had a squadron of Phantoms on board, I take great offense to this. - I may be doing something wrong procedure wise and no, I haven’t RtFM yet, but I found as I was screaming around the southern Nevada skies last night, that no matter how I set the radar up from the WSO seat, once I went back to the pilot seat, after a second or two the radar would go back to a B scope and 50 mile range. Am I missing something there? Is it supposed to do that and if so, how can I change it? Surely the pilot can do a PPI and isn’t locked into a B scope. I mean, it does show PPI for a second before it changes. - I’m also wondering why there doesn’t seem to be a Jester command to change ranges on the radar. I can tell him to change the elevation and scan size, but not the range? Edit: I looked again this morning and no, there are no US Navy skins at all. C’mon guys, this thing was built for the Navy! Edit: Okay, I get it. The Navy used the B and J versions, not the E. Well, I hope they come out with a US Navy variation someday.
