- Today we we tickle the tastebuds and smoke a roaster chicken using the rotisserie on the masterbuilt gravity series 800 combination smoker grill and griddle in our backyard bbq. We used hardwood lump charcoal, chunks of hickory and applewood. The chicken was brined in lemon pepper seasoning and water for 24 hours prior to putting in on the spit.

Does doing a rotisserie chicken/prime rib taste any diff to a normal smoked one? Seems a bit of a gimik. Hope I’m wrong.
I cooked that chicken both ways, in a pan and on the rotisserie. The rotisserie chicken definitely tasted better. I think the rotating motion of the meat helps the juices move around more, which gives it more flavor.
On a rotisserie, the meat stays moist on all sides. Including it's flavor.

Was your rotisserie turning back and forth instead of all the way around?
Actually yes in that video it was, you have a keen eye! I did another bird and it worked like it should spinning all the way around. Must have been unevenly distributed or not in the socket properly.
I can easily tell the bird was not centered on the spit properly.
Can't just slam things together without looking.
