@@nemo9396 he was unconscious and he did not have any chance to help him out. Lester gave his life so the Buddy can live and rebuild his village. It would be nice for him to stay alive but it was heartbreaking that he did not make it.

for the people who sad about lester death just want to post this here, quickly after it was released, Chahi made a public statement that the title did not represent his vision of the world he crafted and disowned it altogether from being treated as an official sequel. so yea just think this as non-canon one

@@onerandombruh one person made Outer World and had it published. Another dev team made this sequel (they were responsible for the console port of the original game). That's why they tried to built upon an existing system but fell short in passionate care for puzzle design, level layout and animation fidelity.
Apparently Chahi does think highly of this version since he included the soundtrack in the 20th anniversary

I discovered this game after watching a speedrun from the first one.
whoever played the first one knows that our fellow alien is a badass, but we didn't know he was that much. him defending the village was just amazing.
I remember seeing a screenshot of the game in a magazine, I was like "there's a sequel to Another World where you play as the alien dude?" I've never played it and never really watched a longplay until now. I thought Lester was paralized for good at the end of the first game, I didn't expect him to do much of the action in this game. Killing him was an interesting plot twist but feel unnecessary. The whole game looks like a glorified fan project where fans took the original idea and ran with it. It's interesting, the art and animation is pretty well, at some places it's even better but it's lacking the original's greatness that I can't put my finger on. And next time you make a fan project for Another World, don't kill Lester, dudes out there...
The game was not made by Eric Chahi, and he disapproves Lester's death. So if some day he releases a new game in this universe Lester might be alive there.
In a discussion, Eric nonchalantly exposed his idea that it would be nice if you could play from the POV of the alien dude for the first game, as an extra game mode. Interplay misunderstood and "recapped" it in the beginning and then tried to create some background story for the alien to place him in the sequel of what the project's script writer (who is not Eric Chahi) wanted the story to play out. Eric just wanted Lester to find some alien thunder orb that sends him back home, Jeremy Barnes wanted some tearful tragedy and a rival action fight.
Wow I played the first and never knew of this sequel. I always thought there was just Flashback as a spiritual sequel.

I‘m so sad, I missed the second game. I never knew there was a sequel. The animations where way ahead of it’s time. The artstyle and the action is still impressive.
Love it: bad guy has to choose: which do you want? Fight the prisoners or fight the beast?

I never knew this game had a part 2.
It was not created by Eric Chahi and it was released on Sega CD only in South America if I am not mistaken. So it's not that much of canon.
@@chadder yeah. He had a sequel in mind but a bunch of untalented monkeys made it. The fact is, is not even THAT bad if you think about it, the idea and settings are pretty good but what it lacks is on polish and details. And gameplay: animations are clunky compared to AW1, and a whip that fires lasers. A WHIP. THAT. FIRES. LAZER. Seriously? Cmon.
It doesn't. This is a "what if?" story. It's been officially disowned by the original games creator, who didn't want Another World to have a sequel.

After reading the comments, i realise this is not canon, but non the less, super cool, never knew this game had a sequel, always thought it was a one-off
Some of the animation in this is amazing.
I can see why today is the first time I'm hearing about this game after having played Another World in the early 90s and having replayed it one of the first after DOS emulators emerged 😊

TBH, the first game had already a very lackluster ending. The sequel only expands on it.

I wish they still made games like this today. This generations games are lacking in atmosphere and story.
Then check out 'Limbo', 'Inside', and 'Planet Alpha'. They all follow the genre this game pioneered.

the AI for this and the original were far more advanced to outsmart the player. Put a shield up and step too far back, they rush your shield and use it as their own. I loved how smart this game was for its time. They struggle to even get this right with newer games. AI pathing that seem to either stand in the open or get stuck on obstacles trying to get to the player.
Mad props to the dev for no glitches or bugs. Just a perfect game from the start.

Well we don't know exactly what that machine was that fryed him. Could be some sort of stasis pod or cloning machine? Would love to see a final chapter to this game!
Lester probably would have made it back to Earth had the creator of the first game been involved in the development of Heart of a Alien.

Я тоже только недавно в первую играл. А про вторую вообще не знал.

While gameplaywise, there are some things I don't agree with... I absolutely love this sequel.
It just does things that needed to be done, and this game does it quite well.
The flashback scenes are a nice touch, giving a bit of backstory and shows what happened in the perspective of the alien.
There are more outside locations... one thing that was super lacking in the original, appart from the first level.
Plus, and this is the most important one... this game has an ending.
In fact, it's the perfect closure to the first game, since to be real, there was never a chance for Lester to get back home.
And the first game simply didn't have an ending.
It ended, yes... but it was super anticlimactic.
Wow I thought Lester died at the end of the first one. I don’t like that we see Lester is actully alive just to have him die at the end. I prefer to think the first one is how it should’ve ended.

I liked the cutscenes and the elaboration of characters faces more in the 2nd part. But the gameplay was better in the 1st one. And, in my opinion, just leaving a couple of minutes for the 1st game's main character and then killing him is dishonest. Controls here is an even worse nightmare than in 1st game. ))
This reminds me of the John Carter of Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

After all the bullshit the little red-headed nerd known as Lester went through....in the end, he becomes nothing more than an yard ornament that his alien buddy can use him as an objet d'art to discuss when he has his friends over to grill out.
This is what happens when you name your red-headed child Lester.
He never goes back to earth he died a hero to save an alien he's family and villagers that he never had back on earth he's just a sciencetice accidentally teleport to another world ends up on prison and found an alien help him escape.

Another World really needs to be remade for 2021 using PlayStation 5 and Unreal engine! Or equivalent PC version.

La presentación, la primera parte de juego, la manera de sortear los obstaculos me parece espactacular. No llega al primero, pero de ninguna manera se aleja tanto del original.
