As someone who's only been playing for 2 months, this is doubly funny: it's word for word so real, seen it so many times in draft. Doubly funny because I laughed at my own stupidity also as a noob, believing them for the first month without even knowing it's a meme. 😅
@@breadngravy3860 Literally yesterday I supped for a Yasuo adc with 0.5 million mastery points. Fed most of game (granted, lack of kills was somewhat due to my Pyke ult), went in 1v4 and then complained because he didn't realize everyone else had retreated with minimal health/mana, and kept repeating he's useless because the actual carry didn't cooperate with him.
Just, crap, I'm not gonna trust even a 10 million mastery Yasuo in my team now.

Its annoying when people keep saying that if you hate yasuo then you must be bronze or silver. I would like to see his ultimate not work unless he hits a tornado, that would make him feel much more fair;Right now he can ult you from 3000ish units away from his teammates possibly un-counterable knockup and depending on your champ once he gets that close its game over...

So here a tip for newer people wanting to easily counter yasuo. Once you see yasuo is selected on the enemy team, your gonna want to change up a few things. Basically what you do is click the "X" on the top right of your screen and dodge the match.

He is hard to play in the early game, if he gets 2 ful items and the other team is also only on 2-3 items, Yasuo can somehow 1v3 and win... Also 1 R on ADC = 1 dead ADC....
TheWeeaboo azir main here actually Azirs Laning is great if you know what you’re doing I can agree he is pretty unreliable before 3 items but putting time and effort into azir is definitely worth it if you learn how to position in teamfights and when to all in / shuffle your opponents

To be fair... yasuo was released during a time in which Thunder lords and black cleaver were extremely overpowered. His release just seemed like another piece to add on top of one of the most hated patches.

Well autoattack him. Windwall has a huge CD so he cannot use it to stop your harass. And when he wants to attack he has to tank all of your minions. Never had a problem laning against Yasuo.
@Sharky Shark There are many characters that punish that. Mages deal no damage to tanks, get easily countered by Divers (J4, Zac, etcs) and also heavily countered by assassins. That's already 3 classes that counter Mages. Is that not enough for you=?

Well just dealing 200 damage for an ult wouldn't an ult. Q does more dmg then ult so it makes sense that after ulting yasuo becomes "op" otherwise Last Breath would be useless. Think about that.

@@jackpotmasterpiece7789 it has 80s cooldown on lvl 1, it increases armor pen., deals dmg and technicaly, it offers longer cc, yasuo doesnt have hard time activating it, he has whirlwind that he just needs to charge with 2 empowered aa, also he can just bust that whirlwind into your face in close combat, still knocking up, increasing armor pen. and dealing pretty huge dmg. did i mention he will never run into problem of low mana/energy which would make him unable to use ult.
Yeah, the shield is just one let's call hardly balanceable skill he has, but the thing I really don't understand is that he has no mana and LOW COOLDOWN on his abilities. Like all other no mana champs has some form of limitation, either it being higher cds, or energy, or skills costing health, etc. I never understood this decision...

Benjamin Buljevic This is mostly because of feast or famine champions. Champs like Shaco, Draven and Rengar for example. If these champs are behind they are completely useless. They rely on snowballing and if they don't snowball they are gonna have a hard time being usefull at all.
While what you're saying is true, Riot has shown that they don't like this kind of playstyle in champs. My main example is how pre-rework Talon had this exact same problem. Consider that they did a rework on him to get rid of this playstyle.
Yasuo, Zed, Riven and Lee Sin players are usually occupied by players in ranked who are flamers and always expect to get fed during laning phase otherwise they bitch, moan, and then feed. Their skillsets are cancer and the players who play them are dickheads too.

Everyone hate yasuo?back in my days teemo was da bomb.
Teemo was never really hated, he was a meme. He only really countered 1 champion in top and that was Garen.
Fizz, Vayne and Riven were the actual hated champions due to the same people that played them currently also play yasuo so you've a 50/50 chance of them either feeding and going 0/10 or rolling a game
@@Gatrax Nah, no one tops yasuo, not even close, not even all of them combined. Cos yasuo can go in every lane. Almost every blind pick normal has a yasuo or even two no matter your ranking. If he isn't overpowered, the fact he is so over picked makes the entire game boring as hell. Also he's a huge brick wall for lower skilled player wanting to pick up a conventional mage. But teemo zed or pantheon are not like that, has multiple weakness. Yasuo only weakness is lack of wave clear.

My problem with yasuo is that he just does too much. Super strong laning phase with passive and mobility. I can deal with that tho, I'll just play someone strong early, but nah that's also a bad idea because of his double crit passive and q being on hit, meaning he heals from it off normal lifedrain. Yasuo is one of the few champs that can be said to be perfect if played properly

wiko660 windwall has 25 sec cd, ult does 400 dmg at lvl 3. Yasuo is melee so he is more basic attack champ then ability striker. High elo players know how to play against him, players with no brain will always stuck to losing lane against yasuo. Its funny how the higher the elo, the lower the win rate 😂

Honestly what I hate most about him is the CD on his dash being on each seperate minion/champion as it ends up making him feel very low risk high reward as he can dash in try to kill you and if things don't go well just dash out again with ease, and on top of that he has the wind wall he can throw up behind himself to ensure no stun chases him out.
Yeah they should make dashing cost his "flow" so that he has to move around normally in order to dash around. So that he sacrifices his shield for mobility.
thing is if he doesnt kill you at first attempt he pushes the lane. problem is many midlaners in low elo dont really care about laning and jgl. its so simple to counterplay yasuo if you manage to freeze and wait jungler. you just cant see die few minions without getting single coin out of it

they should give him energy as a resource, be generous with it but make a cap on just how long he can sustain using ability after ability
if you give yasuo an energy cap it would become useless, in teamfights he would run out of energy in 3 dashes and you wouldn't even do a kill

@@moanguspickard249 with energy he could get a couple of Qs maybe a dash and thats it. His Qs barely do more damage than an aa. He would be rendered useless, immobile with no dmg. Zed has more escapes and can burst enemies. Without energy he would be bursting all the time. I kinda main yasuo but i still destroyed many lvl7 yas mains with zed despite being a counter pick because i know his weaknesses and you should too

Thats the reason why shaco isnt removed because there are people who love him meaning they have to try and balance him at a neutral perspective.

The sense of balance is more important than actual balance.
Whatever yasou’s state of balance is, he always feels OP, simply due to how much free shit he has in his kit.
No spell resource, short CD, double crit, almost infinite mobility, free shield, aoe CC, and a wall that blocks even lock on projectiles.
Regardless of how riot tweaks his numbers, he will always feel op.
People hated teemo not because of how good of a champion he is, he was never THAT strong. You never see an out of control teemo the way you do other hyper carries. But he feels cheap. It feels cheap to be killed by a shroom, or not being able to kill him due to blind.
Yasou is the same. It always feels like whoever playing yasou has an unfair advantage, because his kit is overloaded enough to be shared among 2 complete champions.

Free shield can be deal with if it is what it should be : something that cool to have in addition to the real passive (double crit) and give like 10/100 shield (not 100/510). The problem with this insane shield is low level it's better than any poke mid laner mage could try to harass him with , mid game if you can get it and refresh once you gain insane survivability to engage and late game you gain +1020 hp if you refresh it only once ...
Wind wall should be a once counter and disapear as soon as it has taken a spell or an auto (and maybe more than one with level) or having a somewhat big incantation time that way it won't feel as unfair that your veig ult has just been denyed (the guy had to time it right). This would destroy the stupid yasuo cheesing INSIDE his windwall almost invincible because it just delete spells and auto.
Mobility is unfair but it DOES require a bit of position and skill so i don't know . Having his free reward for no effort remove could be enough to have him not being first ban just behind new champ (wich will always be first ban because power creep and people not knowing the champ yet)

My main problem with Yasuo over the years is not how strong he is or how people use him, but the character's kit itself. It has so much going for it that every other champion pales in comparison.
Base stats - Average strength with below average defensive stats. Above average range and movement speed compared to other melee champs - The below average defensive stats are mitigated by his passive as well as his wind wall. Meanwhile he has above average stats in the offensive department. Also has the bet kind of resource, which is none. He does not run out of mana or require to recharge stamina. He also has low cooldowns on all of his abilities except for windwall, which is usually the downside to champions hwo do not have a resource for abilities.
Passives - 2 passives. One for offense and one for defense. The shield can be acquired ever 20 second or so, meaning every 20 second he gets a 50~ shield (At level 1 the shield gives 100 but usually you poke him to drop the shield. This means a weak move is used that at best will probably do half to the shield.) The other passive makes any item he buys that has critical chance worth more gold than they are. Since the typical build for yasuo has a siv and infinity edge, both those items give more stats than they should while also mitigating the small penalty of doing 10-25 percent last damage per crit depending on the move he uses. He is able to get 100 percent crit chance must sooner and by using fewer item slots on it, which allows him to buy tanky stats if he is behind or livesteal stats if he is winning.
Q - low cooldown meleeish poke that goes through minions. After 2 qs the next one sends out a whirlwing - This whirlwind is a large projectile compared to any melee champ that has a ranged attack and it has a range of 900 which is longer than most projectiles, especially for melee champs. Then the whirlwind ccs if it hits. Not only that, but it is the best kind of cc, which is knockup. knockup time cannot be reduced by tenacity, and cannot be gotten out of which quicksilver sash or clense.
W - long cooldown wall that stops all projectiles that touch it and makes them disappear - The wall has no counter play for about 2-3 seconds after it is used. It auto stops any projectile it touches, and the enemy champ has to get around it in order to attack yasuo. Yasuo is also allowed to dance around it, making it closer to a guessing game on where and when to shoot projectiles. This move plus his shield passive makes it hard to poke him down in lane. He can potentially nullify 2 abilities by absorbing one with the 100 shield and another with the wall. Keep in mind that in the early levels mid laner's moves cost a lot of mana, so while yasuo can regain both of his defensive abilities in 20-30 seconds, it would take much longer to regain that amount of mana. The shield also does not work like other shields where the best way to deal with it is to throw more abilities at it. Braum shield, morgana shield, nocturne shield, sivir shield and so on have a limited amount of uses in a time before they are broken. the wind wall does not. For about 4 seconds the wall can block an unlimited amount of cc and damage.
E - extremely low cooldown dash that goes through enemies and damages them - Both a defensive move to evade abilities and an offensive move to chase down champs. In lane he has anywhere from 3 to 8 dashes depending on how many minions there are. He can also dash into a whirlwind which will knock you up. That move is extremely fast and is a point and click cc. Running away from yasuo in lane forces you run past you minion which will give him 2-3 dashes and then he can dash off you. The mobility is limited when in the jungle, but no such problem occurs when fighting in team fights. A full late game team fight means that Yasuo can have 5+ dashes for free and each one of them does damage.
R - jumps to a knocked up champ and deals damage to them. Those targets also take increased damage from crits - The animation that plays takes 1 second. The knockup from his whirlwind lasts 1.5 seconds. In theory a melee champ can cc a whole team for 2.5 seconds by himself. No melee champs except hardcore tanks or bruisers like wukong and malphite can do that. What Yasuo has that the other 2 don't is incredible damage due to the crits amplification he gets from the ult. The range of 1400 and no other limit means that a yasuo can jump from over 2-3 walls in the dark without you being able to see him. His ult also auto corrects to be outside of tower range if possible. The Yasuo no longer has to consider the distance the tower can shoot as he can not ult and allow the game to auto correct any miscalculation that was made.
To me, it does not matter if Yasuo does 1 damage or 1 million damage. His kit is completely overloaded compared to almost every champion in the game. He has a tool for almost any situation, and the fact that he scales so well means that even if early on the yasuo starts losing, eventually the yasuo will be great. That might take 5 minutes or 50 minutes, but a game that goes for 60 minutes means that no matter what mistakes were made before, the yasuo is now one of the strongest characters in that game due to his scaling.
This is why in my opinion, Yasuo is an overpowered champ. Not for the damage he can do, but by all of the things he can do.
Except he has a fuckton of weaknesses that people who know the matchup exploit. Which is why he has a negative winrate and the best yasuo player has a negative kda. He’s one of those champs that either ball out or become irrelevant as the game goes on. He has a good kit, but also has big weaknesses.
Bic Lopez he can also have a low win rate because he is a high skill champion in a meta where bruisers and top tier, one of his only weaknesses. I'll also say that in general he does not fall off quite like other champs. He has a slightly bad early game that is mitigated by 2 powerful defensive abilities and high mobility. His mid game is amazing due to hitting 100 percent crit before anyone else, and his late game isnt bad because he can build defensive and cause 2.5 second knockups on multiple people.
He doesnt fall off like other champs who have a good early game, because his early game isnt good. Its like a lesser extent of Vayne, Yas isnt as bad early, but isn't as good late game. And no, his early is definitely not mitigated by W or passive. Passive can be easily stopped with any sort of poke and W has a twenty second cooldown, not only that but windwall is completely irrelevant against melee champions. And his E is great but the biggest problem it has is that, being his only form of mobility, he has no real escapes and becomes very susceptible to ganks, especially for champs like Xin, Udyr, Yi, Vi, Kha, Wukong and really any champ with a half decent gap closer or who can latch on to you. Not to mention that point and click CC is the bane of his existence. Champs like Malz, Annie, Ryze, Mao, Fiddle etc. can just play safe, and legit just click on him if he tries to approach. Im not even gonna mention all the tanks and bruisers that he gets absolutely mauled by. Yes, his mid game is his best time, but the problem with a lot of mid game champs like Yas, Talon, Wukong, Vlad, etc. is that they cannot be behind, because if they get behind, they miss their powerspike and just become "meh" in the late game, unlike good late game champs who don't really have to worry so hard about getting behind, because they will eventually just have all their items and become stronger than everyone else. And Yas has had a negative win rate for a while, not just in this meta. Yas has a ton of advantages in his kit and i can acknowledge that, but he also has a lot of holes in his kit that should be exploited but not a lot of people really take the time to learn matchups, because its kinda tedious. But this is like someone complaining that a zed beat them, then realizing that they picked lux into zed, and didnt buy zhonyas.
You made a lot of good points. It is very true that tanks and bruisers do well against him, and that point and click cc decimates him as well. I will also agree that I might have over hyped his early game. The main problem I see is that most of the things brought up are things that work against every champion, not just yasuo. Anyone that is ganked should lose pre 6. no champ should be able to 2v1. It is the same thing with cc. Every champ is weak to cc. It seems like the way to counter yasuo is either to tag team him or to pick a champ that that auto counters him. Neither are these are healthy for a meta where yasuo normally goes midlane. As of today he is played mid lane about 40 percent vs the other roles and is the 3rd most pick mid laner (champion.gg). A lane notorious for have squishy mages that cannot deal with him at all, except for the ones you mentioned. The other option is to go bruiser mid lane, which is somewhat popular now, but that means that your team will most likely not have much ap late game (unless your team works around that, which means yasuo requires more than 1 person in order to be dealt with.) In my opinion, his strengths are so strong that a decent amount of midlanes are unplayable due to how well he counters them (personal opinion with no facts backing it). A champ whose only weakness are weaknesses that every single other champion has by default does not seem well built. Yes his early game is not good and his late game is meh, but he always has the potential to get fed because of his kit. He can scale into the mid game or become competent in the late game. In my opinion, a champion who need 2 people consistently to deal with or who need very specific counters (ryze being not good now,, annie hardly being played, fiddle going bottom) (champion.gg ) seems slightly over tuned.

Honestly, yasuo is always a insta ban for me unless someone on my team wants to play him (Playing as Lux or not). To be frank, I don't care if yasuo players just complain about him getting nerfed into the ground, just keep six feet under the ground. But that is just me.
When i was boosting a friend so we could play duo, i played lux vs yasuo.... it was the easiest game of my life (some high iron)

As a Karthus main, Yasuo has always just been another assassin to me. The difference is that I actually think that he's fun to play as and in the current patch, fun to play against. His dash being a set distance means that I can land Qs on him by reading where he will go. He can't block any of Karthus's abilities and can't stay in melee range without getting punished hard for it, so it's definitely not as hard as other mages, but I've found that it's a pretty fair matchup.

Yas is not op anymore but I can't stop hating him for his 2 broken mechanics :
1) he gets crit chance for free which is one of the most expensive stats in the game and that makes him deal 4 items adc dmg with only 2 items (and I don't think this is OK)
2) as a ADC/mage midlane player i mostly use characters with projectiles so yeah, a basic ability that just denies everything I can use is annoying.
Other than that he is pretty OK I guess
I think his double crit isn't the problem. It is way more the Insane big hitbox on his Q and the duration of the Windwall and the instant cast of it which screws up most could be skill matchups.

Honestly, those two aspects are not a problem to me, if he could be fought against fairly. The second part of his passive to me is the biggest problem. Not only does he not use a resource, which has been one of the most nonsensical elements of any champion since this game's release, he also gets a free goddamn shield that blocks almost everything that isn't CC by just moving around.
Why a champion that can already dodge everything in lane needs a shield, i have no idea. But Riot loves overloading kits just to make their weeb champs look cool.

The thing about Yas is that people think he’s the “cool samurai character they see in anime” and after seeing people like yassuo, arkadata and other good yasuo’s, they think “how hard can he be?” And end up inting, but keep trying because they wanna get to a high level, before they actually learn how the game works.
Balancing Yasuo is easy...just give him a mana bar for resource so he cant just spam abilities mindlessly . Make him choose his time to be oppressive rather than just constantly spamming with no consequence for bad decision making.
It is my strong belief all characters should have a resource bar, or those who don't should have way longer cooldowns.

Again, if Maokai or other tanks are camped, they can still provide a TON of peel for their carries because CC doesn't get effected by gold. However, Yasuo's main contribution is damage, and without gold, he can't bring damage.

In one of my last games I went 1/5 in mid but my team completly flamed our 2/4 yasuo toplane who got camped alot and later on carried our game.

Its the stigma of yasuo players. I literally hate yasuo and playing against him but I love to play as him because he is so broken and can outplay almost everyone.
Im too old now. The last time i play League is when Yasuo was the latest hero release. Still remember those year that they keep adding champs for like every few weeks/months. Its hard to choose a main.
How I would change Yasuo:
Passive: Crits on any enemy in the air (maybe increase crit damage as well). Has wind as mana replacement ability cost (100 cap). Gains wind on movement and attacks
Q: Same ability, but only tornadoes if you have 100 wind resource, and hitting an enemy champion with a Q grants more wind resource.
W: Consume all wind for a shield that lasts for a period of time. While the wind shield is active and not destroyed, Yasuo cannot be hit by ranged attacks.
E: Same ability, but consumes 20 wind per dash.
Ult: Pretty much the same. Keeps enemy airborne and does maybe 3/4/5 strikes. Since all these strikes are guaranteed to crit. If Yasuo has wind he will consume 20 wind a strike to do extra strike per 20 wind.This could only be used on an enemy unit that has been ulted by a teammate, since knocking up an enemy yourself would take all your wind.
