Hey Eric...that plant is called a Adam's Needle Yucca. Perfect for both novice and experienced gardeners alike, this shrub can develop a tall, thick flowering stem in summer. These dramatic accents are usually between 4 and 5 feet, but some years, you may see a spike that reaches 6 feet or more! The creamy white, tulip-shaped flowers can last for a month. Butterflies and hummingbirds love these white bells. The flower spikes do not appear until the plants are five years old. Adam's Needle Yuccas are just as rugged as they look. They are heat, cold and drought tolerant and disease and insect-resistant. The plants have thick roots to store water, so the plants need little attention when it comes to watering. Once established, these are carefree perennials that may live for 60 or more years.
There was a video of a camper that pulled up to a spot where Eric had just left. The spot was covered in trash amd empty bottles. Kinda ironic considering the title of this video. 😮
@@Mike-01234- Same way it popped up in my garden in Michigan? I bought it at a local nursery, lol. Though out in the desert areas I’m sure it just got carried there by bird droppings (if it isn’t native there).
I've been pondering this for several days and finally decided to comment/make a suggestion that I hope won't come across as a criticism. Assuming you have your buildings exactly where you want them it may be too late, but I would STRONGLY suggest having concrete pads laid down and tie down hardware installed on both buildings and the pads. Also, a large concrete pad for the RV, car, and trailer would be a good idea, I think. The reason I suggest the pads and tie downs for the buildings comes from seeing out buildings, loaded down with lawn mowers, motorcycles, etc., tossed across yards by high winds (not even tornado force winds, but close in some cases!). You have worked hard to get where you are today and seem to be very happy now and we out here in YT land want you to stay that way! Again, not a criticism and no offense intended, just a thought for your safety and that of you new home and property.
It's a Yucca, water it. You might consider moving it to your driveway entrance area, especially if you find another one. So glad you are happy! ❤ love watching your property unfold.

That looks like what's called ASTM 3034 sewer pipe which is a smaller OD. What you bought was a 4" Sch40 DWV fitting cleanout, fitting means it goes nside a fitting hub not over the pipe. Go back to Home Depot and get a sewer and drain 4" female adapter that will go over the pipe..(Take the outside dimention of your pipe with you to make sure). The sewer pipe is thinner than Sch 40 DWV pipe and a smaller dia. .....After thoughtYou just take the cap from the pipe!

I'm not a plumber either but if you know in your mind what you want to accomplish, you can piece similar parts together at the supply. When satisfied that will work for you, take it apart then purchase the parts you need. This is basic and works for many things that we come across when operating outside of our area of expertise. Multiple trips to supply is time consuming and wasteful. Also, if you have a bunch of small jobs, buy all the material for them and store them, that way when you feel like getting something done, you can just do it instead of starting from scratch and making a trip to supply. Keep common fittings, fasteners. lumber, pipe etc around because when things break and they always do you have most items to make repairs.
Hey Eric, you'll need to get fittings for the sewer and drain instead of the regular schedule 40 PVC, they generally keep it out in the garden center for some reason instead of with the pipe. If you ask somebody at the big box store they'll be able to direct you to the fittings that will fit your sewer pipe without any additional pieces.

Hi Eric, long time subscriber here. just wanted to let you know that I am enjoying your recent videos at your new homestead. The fact that you are happy really comes through. Keep it up!
dude i'm so close to driving down there and being your neighbor. i nomad across the us, living in a hotel now, i love your channel, i'm retired from the military, and i got a tacoma pickup that'd be happy to be of service!
You need a coupler for that sewer fitting. 4” to 4” coupler. Make sure it’s a male coupler because it’ll need to fit inside your fitting. Take your fitting to Lowe’s or Home Depot to make sure you’re getting the right one.
I think what you're doing is really cool and I am looking forward to moving out there but it will be several years before that is even possible but watching you makes me really glad I bought an acre out there for retirement in 8 years or less. Also cool that you have trash pick up!
Garbage service is something I take for granted. I don't remember ever not having the trash picked up once a week. I'm glad you are so happy in your space. Take care of yourself,Tara and Opie.
Plumbing sales person here. What you bought is a clean out adapter, which is designed to fit in the hub of a PVC fitting. You can use what you have if you buy a 4" coupling. What you needed was a female adapter with a threaded plug. Feel free to reach out any time you have a plumbing question. There is also a difference between schedule 20 also known as SND and schedule 40. Both 4 inches but use different fittings.
Yucca plant, and it doesn't require much water. When the flowers die, a new plant will come from the base and produce new flowers. It may not flower every year, but when it does, it's a pleasant addition to this beautiful plant. evergreen
By the looks of it you should have gotten a schedule 40 cap instead of a schedule 80 cap. So, cut a piece of that pipe off or if they left any scrap pipe around, take it to Home Depot and match it up to what you need. The also check with one of the plumbing guys there and get the right primer and glue to meet code in your area.
Joint Compound is used to seal treaded connection. You will need PVC cement if you want to make a permeant connection with the RV adapter to the pipe. Your pipe in the ground is PVC Schedule 80, your adapter looks like Schedule 40 which is the wall thickness. Hope this might help a little.
Great video Eric! Happy you're getting settled in. Northern AZ is our favorite place to vacation. What a blessing for you to have land there! That plant is a yucca. They're related to agave and joshua tree plants. Really pretty when they bloom as you've seen. Rad kfc sign! 😄 God bless you and keep up the good work.
I'M SORRY YOU WON'T HAVE YOUR BEST BUDDY ROBERT THIS SUMMER. I'M SURE YOU & THE KITTIES WITH FIGURE OUT HOW TO STAY BUSY & HAPPY! God Bless & really like your homestead base camp Eric :) DO SOME COOKING MEALS VIDEOS IN YOUR Homestead...
Eric. Whoa!..................Just pickup a 4" PVC coupling, cut the existing pipe to length add the coupling and your cleanout. But don't use pipe joint compound. That is primarily used for putting threaded steel pipes together. you need pvc glue and pvc primer. Use the primer to clean the pipe, coupling, and cleanout. Then put the glue on the pipe and add the coupling. Work quickly and hold it in place for about ten seconds. Then repeat with the cleanout fitting.
There is 4 inch PVC pipe that is used for interior plumbing in a home the line running out to a city sewer system. It is sized like regular pipe. There is another 4 inch PVC that is used for outdoor drainage and rainwater diversion. It is thinner walled and a slightly different size and is cheaper than the plumbing type PVC. It appears that your pipe sticking up out of the ground is the second type. You can purchase adapter couplings that will connect the 2 types together.
My Grandparents always had those kinds of plants in their yard. Which was a homestead in West Texas. It’s called a Yucca shrub some are yucca trees. They look beautiful.
A base camp helps you to start planning for your next road trip. Right now focus on working on the base camp. Since you have friends lving up the road as well as neighbor, you are not totally. In the latest Campervan Kevin video, you were working on the gravel for your roadway as well as some parts of the base Camp. Phoenix and Kevin have told about their willingness to help. So accept their offer of help. It will help to speed up the gravel for the driveway. Oddly your moods are changing since you came back to the base camp. Staying busy is one way of managing depression.
You’re doing great. Your land is looking wonderful and it’s just going to get better! That’s not aloe, it’s a cactus of some kind and their blooms don’t typically last very long. Hopefully someone will know.
I don’t know if anyone mentioned this Eric but you have the right size cap which is 4 inches and all that but you have to remember that the pipe that it goes into the thing it’s labeled about a quarter inch smaller interior diameter (Id) Jeron exterior diameter and then interior diameter and that’s what you have to measure. It will be just one solid connection, but you have to find the right connector with the thread and cap with those dimensions.
The plant is a Yucca plant. Google it if you ever want to move it? Some plants do well after they are moved. Some are fussy and they die if they are moved. Because they need the soil and light where it is. It’s a lovely plant.
Waste Management is the worst here should have gotten Wagon Wheel. I used to work for Waste Management here. During monsoon season and winter they stop picking up. Their trucks break down and I had to sit in the hot sun or cold for hours. That company is the worst here in the Show Low area.
Love this video. It reminds me of the original homesteaders and their struggles to develop their properties that had power hookups and trash collection.
Love your videos Eric, been with you for years. Glad you have a homestead to enjoy. Everyone needs a piece of land to call there own. Best Wishes! Hope a friend shows up to help you enjoy your days and jobs.
As @blairmayo4513 has answered, the plant is a yucca. It can be beautiful, but the spikes will cause a nasty cut if you are not careful. Consider it's location, if it would be near any driveway or walkway. You may want to remove it (carefully) if it is in the roadway. The property is coming together. Hugs to you and the kitties.
Your gorgeous plant is a Yucca!! I was so excited to see them blooming when we were in New Mexico and Texas earlier this spring. So pretty! I'm happy that you're so happy!
I am so enjoying your new adventure and I can’t wait for the next one, so keep them coming!! Teddy and I were with Robert a couple weeks ago and got some solar put on. He needs Flordeea really bad!
Dude, you won’t regret getting that trash service!! Also, get you a small step stool or ladder so you can step in to the trash can and stomp it down for heavy trash weeks…I do it all the time That property is absolutely awesome and so peaceful!
Check with your septic installer on dumping Rv black water. I believe it should be directly into septic tank to allow decomposition before liquid waste runs to the fingers. Dumping solid waste directly into fingers will result in filling them.
Everything seems to be going great! Your basecamp is really coming along! I watch your channel with my husband under his acct. You said something in your video about kinda being lonely. It is totally normal to sometimes feel lonely. But, have you thought about bringing another person into your life? It seems like you're in a transition. I'm sure being on the road is very exciting...I'm jealous...lol. Not my business but I would love to see you in a relationship with someone really special someone perfect for you and your lifestyle. Someone understanding, giving, thoughtful and kind. You deserve that. You're a sweet and caring person with depth of emotion. There are a lot of women who would really appreciate you and your qualities. Your kitties 😸 are so cute and sweet but they can't hold you when you want to cry. Sorry for getting too 'sappy'. I just know what I have with my husband and you deserve to have that too. Like I said, who am I to give you advice? But I would LOVE to see you over the moon happy and giddy with love. Ok sappy again, sorry. Have a great day & all the best!
I use to have two in my front yard at my house in Phoenix looks like the Yucca Root Herb. They make the yellowish green flowers. If that's what I think it is you can boil the flowers for 15 minutes strain and you have a tea. 👍
It is a Yucca plant. There's blooms get beautiful, and they don't last very long.. They will come back every year.. Please don't cut it back.. They are beautiful.
The plant is a Yuca plant. The flowers die out quickly. You may get another flush of flowers a bit later. You don’t really have to do anything. That’s the climate they like. You can water it once in a while .
Live what you're doing. Keep the videos coming , we all love to see the progress, achievements and failures. Thanks for sharing and as always stay safe and God bless love ya Nancy
Hi Eric, You could always invite a few Tiny houses on wheels/off grid too to stay on your property and share new friendships and exchange occupation help.😅
Piping, plumbing, fire sprinklers as well as lawn sprinklers go by both inner and outer diameter measurements for the pipes. Inners and outies don't mix. Hope your underground isn't jerry rigged with a pipe that went on way too easy. You should be able to test it with some air pressure to see if it pops.
I'm not a professional when it comes to plumbing but you have to be aware of inside and outside diameters. If you're trying to fit two pipes together one of them has to slip over the other obviously. So, maybe it's time to take a trip to a hardware store and ask someone there for the correct size pipe. Also, while you're at it, pick up a decent saws all. It will make cutting that pipe way easier. Good Luck!
The fitting you have is Sch40. Your pipe is probably Class 200. Two different diameters on the same size pipe. Go to your plumbing supply store and they can help you.
Place looks great! 👍 PS- Never order plumbing, always buy in person. Chances are will have to return or exchange things. I know I do even after doing it for years still 😆💕👍
PPS- hope you found out you need some "red hot blue glue" or pvc primer and pvc cement kit and not pipe joint compound for glueing those drain cleanouts 👍
You need a schedule 40 4 inch PVC coupling. Cut that schedule 20 stand pipe to desired height then glue(PVC Type) the Schedule 40 coupling to the schedule 20 stand pipe by sliding it over the schedule 20 pipe. Your new threaded fitting will slide into to schedule 40 coupling(glued). Get some loppers and cut that yucca at the base and pour FULL Strength weed killer on the main root. I've been fighting those things for years trying to get em off my property. They'll take your entire property over.
Banana yucca (Yucca baccata) is a perennial evergreen that thrives in full sun or partial shade in dry, poor, or sandy well-drained soil. It blooms in spring with flower stalks that are 4 to 6 feet tall. Edible fruit ripens in late summer to early fall, but the flavor is intensified when baked. The plant was named after its fruit, which looks like a banana.

This is the happiest I've seen you in a long time! Glad everything is working out so well for you.
Im loving watching the growth of both you and the property. I am glad to see you smiling.
It’s a yucca. You could save the seeds and replant them for a fence. There’s no saving the flowers. The plant will be fine. Thanks for the videos!
Love the videos. Keep learning, don’t be afraid to make those little mistakes, that’s how you learn
Compared to the mountains of trash online your channel is breath of fresh air. 7000' is the same height as halfway up Mt. Rainier
A little advice Eric, put a bungee cord on the lid for animals and the wind. It will save you a big headache in the future.
There's times when I put a brick, or rock on the lid
I'M SORRY YOU WON'T HAVE YOUR BEST BUDDY ROBERT THIS SUMMER. I'M SURE YOU & THE KITTIES WITH FIGURE OUT HOW TO STAY BUSY & HAPPY! God Bless & really like your homestead base camp Eric :) DO SOME COOKING MEALS VIDEOS IN YOUR Homestead...
It’s amazing to have your own property doing your own thing! You can always invite others if they pass through the area to stay a few days!
I’m loving these videos Eric! Keep on keeping on! 🤙🏻
You should be able to get a 4" coupling that would slip over the pipe and the new cleanout cap would slip into the coupling
Love what you are doing Eric. Once you get squared away with your basecamp the fun will start and you can explore the areas close by.
True ❤
It's yucca plant and the flower is called Izote. You can make Izote scramble eggs or Pupusas.
So Happy for you and the kitties! We are Looking for an acreage for off grid livin!!! Keep on smiling Kiddo!!!🫶🏼🚐😎
When joining pvc. You not only need the sealant you need the cleaner/primer too. You want the pipe to be clean when putting the new cap on.
Plant is a Yucca ...I've been waiting for my baby-yucca to flower - for 3 years ... got a bloom this year!
I believe that is a Yucca plant, and it does have a lovely blossom, which can last a few weeks. Re blooms every season.
Loving your homestead videos Eric. So happy for you.👍😁
Love this video.
Also, get you a small step stool or ladder so you can step in to the trash can and stomp it down for heavy trash weeks…I do it all the time
That property is absolutely awesome and so peaceful!
Eric, thanks for your updates at the homestead. A lot of us nomads are doing that same thing. We love hearing about your progress. 😍👍👍
Looks peaceful and tranquil on your high desert property. Glad you are enjoying the downtime.
Happy to see you enjoying the new homestead!
Check with your septic installer on dumping Rv black water. I believe it should be directly into septic tank to allow decomposition before liquid waste runs to the fingers. Dumping solid waste directly into fingers will result in filling them.
I came to the comments specifically to recommend this. Thanks for years of great videos Eric!
Yeah, make sure that pipe goes to the inlet of the septic tank and that it's not an access or cleanout for the pipe to the drain/leach field! ;)
Down time? I've not seen you actually rest. You are constantly making changes, good changes. I'm really happy for you.
Take us to town someday.. you do look very Happy! Too bad Robert can't come to visit.
You have an very cool youtube name!!! Very creative!
Sounds like a fast track to turning paradise into hell.
@@ARF.Racing LOL!!
I ran into the same problem with the sewer dump piece.I was sold a rubber type clamp that wrapped around the two pieces.Worked perfectly,no leaks.
ROOF DECK Eric over Babe the Blue Box and plant a couple of shade trees. Glad you have a stationary home, it’s beautiful.
Agreed! Maybe even a wrap around deck! (but still portable)
@@nomadicfanatic The roof could extend out enough to cover the lower deck and give the fur babies shade when you build their “cat condo” 😻
I use to have two in my front yard at my house in Phoenix looks like the Yucca Root Herb. They make the yellowish green flowers. If that's what I think it is you can boil the flowers for 15 minutes strain and you have a tea. 👍
Awesome Eric . I just bought land also in the mountains of Colorado . You never realize how peaceful it is and all the stars👍
Eric I think that flowering plant is a Spanish Bayonet. Homestead is looking good, excited to watch all the things you have planned🤗
Your property is wonderful. It is super nice to have a home base.
Hey Eric that was great man I do have to say that the aloe you showed was great That is a natural healing property for you
Piping, plumbing, fire sprinklers as well as lawn sprinklers go by both inner and outer diameter measurements for the pipes.
Good Luck!
PVC pipe uses a hub and a spiqot designation. Spigot is the same size as the pipe and a hub will let the pipe slip inside it.
The fitting you have is Sch40. Your pipe is probably Class 200. Two different diameters on the same size pipe. Go to your plumbing supply store and they can help you.
Thank You Eric and your kitties. Things are moving nicely on the homestead
Place looks great! 👍
PS- Never order plumbing, always buy in person. Chances are will have to return or exchange things. I know I do even after doing it for years still 😆💕👍
PPS- hope you found out you need some "red hot blue glue" or pvc primer and pvc cement kit and not pipe joint compound for glueing those drain cleanouts 👍
You are doing fantastic! Love the homestead videos!
Hi Eric, these Vedic’s of your homestead are awesome, we watch you all the time
Banana yucca (Yucca baccata) is a perennial evergreen that thrives in full sun or partial shade in dry, poor, or sandy well-drained soil. It blooms in spring with flower stalks that are 4 to 6 feet tall. Edible fruit ripens in late summer to early fall, but the flavor is intensified when baked. The plant was named after its fruit, which looks like a banana.
