- In this video I make a Poor Man's Pole Anchor for my 14 foot aluminum V bottom boat. Not everyone can afford a fancy expensive Bass boat but with some wise use of common items, you can also have some of the high end style accessories for your small boat. The parts are easy to acquire and not very expensive, so make yourself a pole anchor with me. @JerrysRetirementWisdom65 #DIY #Poleanchor #BassBoat #fishing #PoormansBoatanchor #boaranchor #jerrysretirementwisdom

I used a steel pipe and a 10 foot acrylic pole from grainger. I attached a spike to the end of the pole and attached the pipe with some pipe hangers. All in prolly cost me $100. Works great.
Great Idea. Good job.
Nice idea. Think I can do this for my boat. Thank you

AWESOME!
Thanks!
They make river anchors. Nice ingenuity though
Thanks!
That's not what is typically called a jon boat. A jon boat has a square bow. U hav a v bottom boat
You are correct. I mis-spoke.
The problem I see is that as the fiberglass rod rubs on the steel electrical box the surface of the rod will wear off and you'll be getting a hand full of fiberglass splinters. Maybe make the guide of wood instead of steel. Thanks for the ideas!
Great Point. There is a lot of play between the rod and the metal boxes. I am thinking I can wrap the rod at the top were it typically contacts the metal with some rubber tape or something like tape one might use on a baseball bat handle.
I have come up with a solution better than tape. Watch for an upcoming video.
I like your diy shallow water anchor. But, that isn't a job boat.
Thanks for your comment.
Jon boat? Not really. Little skiff is what it is. Just sayin
I do stand corrected. V Bow or V Bottom alum boat is more accurate.
Could have done the same thing with a scrap piece of 2x6.....you must not be as poor as me LOL!
As expensive as lumber is you must be well off using 2x6😅
I do my best
