- Big Train On Giant Railroad Bridge Passes Over Train! HEAVY Coal Train With Double DPUs & HEAVY Coal Train Goes Over Trestle With Flat Spot On Loaded Car! 4 Trains In Kenova, West Virginia On Norfolk Southern Main Line And Branch Line Spur That Goes To Coal Terminal On Ohio River.
First train is a GIANT Loaded Coal Train that is coming from the coal terminal on the Ohio River and going under the huge railroad bridge in Kenova, West Virginia. This train has double DPUs on the rear working hard! This coal train is turning thousands of lights on son! We got a slight train horn salute. I rode here with Scott, @1960gambit and Ben @SD70AH and we also stopped at Ashland and Catlettsburg, Kentucky. Count the cars on this train and let me know how many there are.
Next we see a big train going over the trestle in Kenova. This train is coming out of Ohio and crossing the river and the city. This long manifest crosses right over a local switching train that was running westbound under it. The track that the switcher train is on is right next to the CSX main line. Notice the locomotive running long hood forward. That is cool and it gave us a little horn salute. It was really cool to see the manifest cross over this train. The manifest on the bridge stopped for just a few minutes and then went on eastbound.
The 4th train is a loaded coal train headed over the big bridge westbound. Look at all that coal! I heard this train on the radio just in time to get a good shot of it. Best frequency for Norfolk Southern in Kenova is 161.250 and the best one for CSX is 160.230 and you can pick up defect detectors and signal call outs on both frequencies . You might want to use the EOT frequency here also if things slow down like it did when we were there. I will have a couple more videos from this trip with CSX trains and Norfolk Southern trains. Thanks for watching!

Awesome! Cats are a lot of fun. I don't see mine in the daytime very much. She comes out at night and walks in front of the computer when I am making videos. lol
@@JawTooth ours thinks he owns the place 😁the one in yard is slowly coming around 😊♥️
Awesome video today JT! I just love coal trains ❤❤😊😊. There was over 53 million pounds of coal on the second one. Just amazing! And as always, your pets are so precious. I'm glad you share video time of them. 😊😊😊
I enjoyed the video👍👍
Nice video there jawtooth I can say I had fun railfanning with you and the others
Yes, that was a pretty good day. I had a lot of fun. I have a few more to post in the rain . There was a maintenance of way parade that passed by on CSX

Thank you very much!
Loved the location. Excellent railfanning video action: start/stopping, multiple DPU’S, over/under trains-LOVED. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed!
Yeah, that was pretty cool! I have some more to post from here maybe this weekend@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars
Morning my friend hope you have a great day, and good luck railfanning
One of your best locations. That bridge is Iconic!
Agreed! I love going there. I will have more video from there
nice
Thanks
Very nice video! Lots of train action on that bridge way cool!
Kenova West Virginia, I got to go there
How is one locomotive pulling that many cars?
Nothing wrong with a Kenova toot salute or two. Some good black diamond action there. Great video, liked it much. Thanks JT!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 🌟
Welcome back to Kenova, JT. Two huge coal trains one being a double coal with 2 middle DPUs and a over under shot. Kenova is a pretty cool hangout for train watching and one impressive trestle. Good job JT.👍🏼
Minture black panther on your property. Take care.
Awesome salute toot. This was an interesting spot .😊 I'd say that was a heavy coal train load. Cool❤Boy these trains are slow today. I like it bc you can see better. Love this 😊 I love your cat. She likes trees. And your sweet other fur babies. Thanks we really enjoyed this video. Stay safe Mr JT.😊
Thanks for watching😊
I'm gonna guess 424 axles on 1st train.
Thanks for watching 😊
Rip to that man who drowned in the Ohio river. I loved the NS and CSX trains across the tall bridge in Kenova WV. We should build a VRF railfan cam there in the future!! See you later man in part 02!!
You'd think there wasn't any more coal by the way the news & Feds cover what's happening. Good to see the full coal cars! Thanks for posting~from Texas
Glad you enjoyed it
105 coal cars. What I was surprised at was I seen no more than 20 cars that had graffiti on them. There wasn't many!
Probably too much coal dust on the sides for the paint to stick
Great location great train action great video thanks Brian and Scott 1960 gambit
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video Jaw Tooth.
Here in Sydney,Australia at the Sydney suburb of Sydenham,is a similar concept of the passenger trains going under the bridge and the goods trains heading over the bridge to the freight yard at Port Botany container terminal.
Thanks for the info😊
She's a bit of a show pony, she knows she's being watched (cat). Love the trains, great location... that first slow train across the bridge was pulling a long load for one engine? If course, great capture of the two trains passing over each other! I think the first place you filmed from in this location was the best spot! Food for thought next time!
Wow
Thanks for watching !
Man, that's a big coal train,wonderful video
That locomotive was working it's butt off
what are the white square things on the side of the trestle???
As well as keeping the lights on and keeping warm in the winter
So, NS still occasionally runs long hood forward!
That was 226 cars on that train. Which is the most I've ever counted.
Jaw Tooth Videos. One a day keeps you entertained !
I saw you got stung by some hornets
Yes about a half dozen stings. The ones in the back of the head really hurt. lol
Ты мне люб это хорошо что они пересекаются так как это ты показал а то на эти перекрёстки тут может всё что угодно.
Jawtooth I love your train videos there awesomebythe way how old is chessie and your cat❤
👍🏾
thanks
Good catch! Thanks!

Super Interesting Video JT 😎
I like train videos on UA-cam jawtooth dpu alright 👍
Thanks Denise!
I still think of it as fuel for Teslas, Nissan leafs and the other EVs😊
😅i see 1 big black kat in the trees from Jungle Book: Bahgeerah, looking for Mowlghi.lol.😂thanks for the coal video. greetz:🍐Peer en Tony, she say hello to you and yor familie.😅👍👍👍👍
Hello Tony and Peerke! I just got done mowing the grass and I dont know where the cat is right now. I wanted to film her but she hides most of the day and then comes in when she is hungry. Loki plays with her and she lets Loki chew on her lol
Another excellent video my big friend! Have a nice day!
Thank you! You too!
Just think, there's no more risk of a train tipping off a bridge than tipping over on level earth. But there'd likely be a bigger mess to clean up after a bridge accident though.
That would be a huge disaster if it happened in this town. They really inspect the bridge closely though

Thanks for watching !
If one of the trucks has an axle that's frozen and not tirning, will the heat detector pick that up?
Good video Jawtooth
Totally awesome
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
Glad you like them!
10:30 DPU I see you!
Last coal long train is very nice ! Thankyou very much .
Glad you liked it
That location begs for a drone. Hope Santa brings you one.
Hope so!
Coal keeps your steam train going
Great catches and excellent video jaw tooth
Good morning jaw tooth
Sweeeeeeet
🍂🏵️🇮🇳🏵️🍂
Nice train coverage
Thanks a lot 😊
King Coal reigned supreme and they rated the most Motive Power. That over and under with the little mini train on the bottom was an extra treat. I don't recall any videos of Eastern roads running double coal trains so UP now has competition. Two odd things about that train was the mix of both rotary and conventional hoppers which you normally do not see. Also unlike many Western coal trains the coal. Is loaded like a bread loaf and these cars have like two big lumps so it's like two rolls. All the folks with you and Gambit got an extra treat in person while the rest of us enjoyed it on the screen
Thanks for watching 😊
Rotary Hoppers...?
@@mckendrick4046 the rotary hoppers are the ones that have the rounded bottoms that are smooth. They have to be unloaded by going into a machine that actually tips them over and the coral falls into a bin underneath. The older cars the coal comes out the bottom chutes
I'm guessing NS can't run double stack intermodel trains on that line.
Who would not want to climb that sugar maple ...awesome cat tree sir ...purrrrfect ...caught scott running ,serious catches ! Thx guys
Wow all those trains and absolutely no graffiti
I hate graffiti. I’d love to see them catch those people doing it and put them in the yard cleaning cars along with a hefty fine.
@@jlvetor123 I am divided on graffiti yes it is very ugly in most places but on trains I don't mind it. Just very very rare seeing a whole train with nothing on them
Nice big coal train! That was fun to watch :) I can't imagine the view from the cab going over the bridge - might be a bit scary - nothing to see but way down below :)
Thanks for watching!😊
There's a lot of rolling hardware on typical trains, so based on the value of each car, what would be the value of a train minus any cargo?
That would be difficult to calculate . My head would spin
Where’s DPU on mixed freight on bridge. In caboose days, trainmen sit with feet on wall and hold on for dear life. You do not want to stand in caboose when slack is taken,
Awesome catches
If a train goes into emergency on a trestle how is a conductor supposed to Walk the tresstle when there's nowhere to walk safely
Love that trestle! I wish I could get there one day! 👍👍
You should! This is one of my top ten spots
@@JawTooth Maybe one day. PS, email reply sent.
Oh, sorry, I didn't know. I rarely check but I will check.@@BaltimoreAndOhioRR
I think it was 216 cars. Switching the camera back and forth may have messed me up. Back in the day most of our coal trains were around 80 cars with 4 engines with 6 axles each.
Wow, 216 is a lot! Thanks for watching and counting cars!
What used to be there, JT? Looks like an old foundation.
Wow! Some action on the video there Jaw Tooth. The special train's line comes so close to that building, it must shake the place. The last one, the long coal train had 219 Hoppers and 4 units giving a total axle count of 900. Somethin' else! Cheers!
JAW TOOTH i heard the train cut some slack. Thanks for the show From Highland falls New York
Mr JT that rail you showed from 1925 was that jointed rail
Love the video Jaw Tooth, but got a question for you: What year was the Kenova Railroad Bridge built? and was it always Norfolk Southern? Thanks for info, my Friend.
The overhead NS freight is seriously underpowered.
It is amazing how much a locomotive can pull. It is probably going downhill I guess
Just wondering I see people say that is *** number if axles, why? Why not just *** number rail cars and ** number of engines.
Cool video. Only place near me i can see a train running above another train is the Rockville bridge and the Old Reading bridge at Harrisburg. You don't get quite the view you got there. Wonder whats up with the white paint on engine # 4164 behind the cab?
I just watched 1960Gambit's video of this spot.
Another good one!
Thanks again!
😅nice the traindriver/de meester op de bok/ was waving from lok 4286.cooool.😅
Interesting to see several Conrail cars sprinkled in that last overhead coal train. Still looked to have their original Conrail numberings, though maybe not.
awesome!
Nice Video
Thanks
❤GREAT SPOT! LOTS OF ACTION! Horn salutes, L O N G Trains, everything we like! Carry on Son!😂
Thanks for watching!
Good Morning Jaw Tooth. I love slick pulling.
At one gallon of diesel per ton per 500 miles. Each 118 coal car means 118 gallons times a hundred cars. At six dollars per gallon. It takes a lot of diesel to move coal.
Another great video, kenova a great place to video trains thanks Jaw Tooth.
Your fur babies are adorable, JT!
