    question... my biggest problem with fairy tail 1 was only few characters were modeled and animated even though some characters like jura, princess hisui and a few people from guilds are sometimes essential to the story even though we won't play as them. Is the second one has this problem too?

      Great question as that was one of my problems with the first too. I found the missing characters less obvious in this one; I would say they probably wrote the plot in a better way to avoid this (and you can check terminology as necessary/if you want) as everyone playable was usually around if they needed to be. If you’re worried, I’d check the trailers for the party members as those are all the ones featured prominently. Hope that helps! :))

    I'm really enjoying it so far. I do wish there were more playable characters and a couple other small things, but it doesn't detract from the fun experiance.
    Currently watching the anime which is FANTASTIC! It's hard to just watch one episode...lol.

    I played the first but never finished it. It was a bit difficult to care about the story without knowing the anime. But you make it sound so good I might give it another try.

    Even though I don't have a lot of free time to invest into a lot of current jrpg's, I just looked up the average gameplay and completion time for both fairy tail games and both of them clock in between the 25 to 50 hour mark which is absolutely perfect for me. I often find with most jrpg's especially with my completionist tendencies it's hard to get excited for a game that will take up a minimum of 100 hours of my time in order for me to complete and permanently retire. I usually like jrpg's that hit that sweet spot between the 30 to 60 hour mark and this seems to be the perfect short jrpg for those that want to sink their teeth into something that isn't too much of a time investment.
    Even though I have no idea when I'll get around to watching the anime, but I'll have no issues dipping my toe into the world of fairy tail by playing the first two games for current gen consoles.

    This looks like a straight up fun game beyond the IP. I was eyeing the first one for awhile hoping to see a deep enough discount to go for it, but currently my gaming plate is over-full so I will probably end up getting 1 after I've eaten down my current (huge) portion and then eventually 2 later down the line. Excellent review.

      I think it is, you don’t need much knowledge of the series for it to be fun :3 hope you enjoy them when you get to them! Thank you! ^__^

    I enjoyed the 1st one since I'm a big Fairy Tail fan but what hurt it big time was that it didn't have an English Dub and I feel like this game will be fun but it would've been AMAZING with the English cast that I grew up with with this series. I got into the series through the dubbed anime(even met the English VA of Natsu at a Dragon's Cry showing which was so cool) so not hearing the English cast in the games really take me out of the experience.
    I don't mind the change in gameplay though it will take me some getting used too though it having huge maps will kinda suck since it'll take a while and with a ever growing backlog that I have that's not good lol Will be fun though but lots of JRPG games are taking the open world setting and that's really eating up my time lol
    Oh well. I already got the game and I know I'll enjoy it but man do I wish Gust stopped being allergic to English Dubs and Dub their games again because I would enjoy their games much more if they did but doesn't seem like that's never gonna happen. Well, crazy stuff have been happening so who knows. Crossing my fingers for Dubs to return to their games in the future.

      I totally agree. I think Fairy Tail is an awesome anime series. I'm currently on the 5th season.
      English dub woulda been awesome, I agree. I think the environments are a bit dull, but it's still a lot of fun.

    This a great time for this to come out, since there is a revival of the anime with a new story arc starting this year (Fairy Tail :100 Years Quest). I am about 10 hours into the game and enjoying it so far.

    Man, on one hand, I would really like to get this game, based on the style and the mechanics.
    On the other hand... I never watched a single episode of the Anime and read like the very first manga 12 years ago.
    I guess the game would be super confusing if you aren't into the source...

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  18 годин тому +1

      I mean I didn’t find it confusing without, although I had the first game behind me. I think you could move forward with at least that, just depends how much you’re okay with not knowing/learning through the game :))

      @@JRPGJungle Well, I think I could at least play the first game first, to get a grip with what the second game is about.
      I remember playing "One Piece" games back in the day and had no clue who some of these chars were.
      We had episodes till "Enel", but suddenly, there is this talking skeleton and this Cyborg...
      Games were still enjoyable without knowing who these were.
      So yeah, thanks for the answer, I think I give this game (after the first one) a try!

    I actually prefer the first game, the sequel has annoying repeated special attacks that you can't skip, censored costumes, repeated voice overs during maps and poor framerates, amongst other things. also when doing those special attacks there's a boarder which covers the screen at the end of battle which looks ugly and there's no satisfaction or winning stats that show your character properly, JRPG's are about style how you look whilst you pulling off those special attacks, and the costumes are boring and censored which makes me default back to the original costumes. THE DLC sucks.
    The only problem i found with the first game was got too easy after level 50, and they let you stat to max with lacrima enhance which was a game break, then the dlc was stupid with an near endless maze where you couldn't save where you wanted, and the levels were repeated, going through all the areas even on hardest difficulty and still breezing past it.
    IF Granblue fantasy relink was an open world JRPG like xenoblade chronicles X, and was made with fairy tail characters and special attacks were fluent smooth good graphics, loads of dungeons and so many enemies to fight, and secrets, weapons, outfits to find also uncensored content, the game could be good, I'd say the developers are just not skilled enough to pull off an ecchi anime Gust + IDea factory and the NIS America published content are always low quality devs lol.

    Never watched the anime, tried the first game it was very mid, easy skip unless you are a huge fan. This one seems better, but still not sure worth if you are not the anime enjoyer.

    I got a question, I don't think I've ever heard you truly thrash a game, the majority of the games you seem to love, there were a few that you didn't like as much as you could, but I don't think I've really ever seen you REALLY lay into a game negatively. Do you just not talk about games that you feel that way(and maybe stop playing them early), or do you just have a good judge of knowing if you'll like something before playing it or what?

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  2 дні тому +12

      I certainly do avoid games I don’t think I’ll like so that may have a little to do with it haha I mean if I felt that strongly about a game, I would say it, but I’d also always try to be objective as well and mention any good points to be fair as well. I’ve had a pretty good run since Baldo and the Guardian Owls as that’s the last thing I remember properly not enjoying and that was apparently 2021 so yeah lol (and timing-wise that only got a JRPGs I Played mention, although I found an abandoned first impressions script trying to remember it haha)
      Idk, I personally think game quality is generally pretty good these days, at least in the ones I try. So yeah, hope that answers your question and will certainly speak up if I ever consider anything utter garbage 🫡 :)
