It's villains like him and Ursula that make me think Disney could make a great "Rumplestiltskin" musical--plus Jennifer Lee said she wanted to do a story about a mom.
Also fun fact During that year, Keith David also plays the cat in Coraline around the same year play as Dr. Facilier in Princess in the frog. Coraline: February 6 2009 Princess In The Frog: December 11 2009
@@kermitTHEdinosaur93 I saw this movie for the first time a few months back and felt everyone besides the main duo were underutilized (even Dr Facilier to an extent). Fortunately, Keith David does more with less!
Definitely one of my favorite Disney villains. Keith David killed the role. Wish I had a voice similar to his, but I'm working on it since I'm voice acting. :)
You can learn more about Facilier’s past in the Almost There twisted tale. Why he became like that is briefly touched on. I find Almost There a fun twisted tale though because it explores what would have happened if Tiana accepted Facilier’s deal instead at the end of the movie
I think what’s funny about the shadow man is that he’s is a real legend about a man who help people to coup with they’re own deaths by partying with them and showing them a good time before they go to the other side
A part of me likes to think that Dr Facilier eventually became Husk from Hazbin Hotel, partly because of design similarities, partly from Husk trying to save his power by selling his soul, similar to Facilier trying to gain power, and of course the fact that both are voiced by Keith David.
@@astererratum6546 I more or so think Alastor made a deal with the friends on the other side rather than him being the shadow man. Bc Alastor died by being shot
They been on stage together and was in a series villains lair together yes they are similar and he has friends on the other side he knows the Sanderson sisters too
@@michelleblaney7323 You mean from Pattycake productions? I meant, Jack Skellington is one of the shadows Dr. Facilier manipulates which hints Oogie Boogie is one of the friends from "the Other Side".
Regarding the issue about Tiana being turned into a frog, obviously they couldn't have Naveen turn back into a human since then the movie would be way shorter plus Facilier certainly wouldn't want that to happen.
Agree. Dr Facilier is such a fun villain and is one of my favorite villains. He was my introduction to Keith David one is one of my favorite actors. His death is definitely the darkest Disney villain death because of being dragged into hell, while he’s completely begging for his life. It’s also implied this is what he would’ve done to others if he succeeded. His freudian excuse is definitely the most realistic of the Disney villains because it’s hinted to be because of racism.
Wait have you notice how many Disney Heroes wish on a star in their respective films? Lilo from Lilo and Stitch Tiana from Princess and the frog Simba and Mufasa look up to the stars to the kings of the past. WALL·E as well looks to the star before Eva appeared It like they wish for the inciting incident as if the stars create a journey that challenges them. Do you think that symbolic as in a hero wish for change when all can be done themselves.
Who’s to say that’s a belly shirt and not, oh let’s say, a binder? We all know that the best Disney Villains were “queer-coded” so what’s wrong with Facilier being Transmasc? (Hey don’t blame moi, I got that idea from MilkyyMelodies’ villain origin song for him)
Solid video essay with great topic choice. I enjoyed it for the most part, but got lost a fair few times trying to keep up with your speech. Just pause every now and then to take a breath, otherwise your essay starts to sound like one long run-on sentence, and it becomes much harder to actually understand.

If the Theorizer's theory isn't true, then The Cat somehow being Dr. Facilier's "penance" arc would be hilarious.
Keith David is a man who could make the PHONEBOOK interesting!
He’s like the Morgan Freeman of voice actors. Even they’ve both done animated and live action movies.
Yeah. He really killed it as Dr Facilier.

My mama and I love him! He’s one of the view voice actors that doesn’t need to change how he sounds to deliver a good performance.
Yeah he is such a fun actor.

(Wish) No pun intended.
@@nilsadelsbach8556You know what I wish? Keith David as the freaking Satan from Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😈😈😈😈😈
Dr. Facillier is such a brilliant villain in this film!
If only Disney could return to form and express villainy in such artistic ways...
I just wish that disney would make another evil villain like doctor facilier again.
There is such beauty in a straight up evil character. The effort they put in

I love this theory and I wish it could be true. But unfortunately Husk is canonically Russian and (supposedly canonically) died of old age ;-;
Alastor. Just, Alastor.

The villain Dr. made a contract just like that villain in the movie Anastasia.
0:52 I mean still, Bolt and Meet the Robinsons are still good films as they decide to make it more interesting than another princess film
You're ready bum bum bum bum bum bum bum You're ready
2009?! This movie doesn’t feel that old I feel old now

Facilier: "Now you gonna spend the rest of your life as a slimey little frog."
Tiana: "It's not slime. It's mucus!"
Naveen & Tiana: It's not slime. It's mucus!
my man is a hellspawn XD

I personally think that Dr. Facilier should make his Appearance in the Kingdom Hearts Franchise,His Boss Fight would be really interesting.
WHY ARE U SO UNDERRATED AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
🗣I'M ALMOST THERE
Elite: The Arbiter as an evil magician who sings and an unnamed feline? What's next, shipmaster as a pirate?
Dr. Facilier reminded me of Oscar Proud from the Proud Family.

Last Disney Villain that ain't twist villain
Mother Gothel is.
Now… he’s in hell singing “ loser baby”
