    I remember seeing a couple of these during the Gulf War in 1991. I was involved in flying the 18th Airborne Corps from Daharan to Raffa. I saw them driving around Daharan and thinking to my self, "I didn't know those were still being used."
    Great model!

    "Fun kit to work on" That's true about pretty much every Tamiya kit. The fit is just superb, it's simply relaxing to build Tamiya kits, as it should be :) Fantastic build as usual!

    When I was in 3/325 Abn (82nd Abn Div) we had our armor platoon attachment support us during an exercise. We spent all afternoon wiring up our battalion CP for communications, only to have the damn Armor Platoon leader pull up in his Sheridan and execute a neat little pivot over our wire head, destroying the junction boxes and ripping out the wires and cable. I managed to jump up on this thing direct from the ground and was ready to wring his scrawny little Armor neck, but I remembered I outranked him and decided to execute a very fulfilling verbal evisceration instead. Ah, good times, good times. Actually these were pretty neat vehicles and I do enjoy watching these video's--they are very soothing. BTW Dusan I was in Vienna last spring for the very first time...an absolutely beautiful city!

    • @thomaswilson3437
      @thomaswilson3437 4 роки тому +1

      BTW I meant to add, you wouldn't want too much weathering on these. By the time the Army retired them there were only a few battalions left, but many vehicles is Depot Storage so plenty of parts. The vehicles in the operational fleet were kept in pretty good nick and always cleaned right up after exercises. They were always shown off, so the crews kept them up really well. I think you've captured it.

    After 10 years of building planes, today I started my 1st Armor kit. Takom King Tiger, late production, no interior. So far I cannot figure out where the prop goes. I will purchase the metal barrel replacement for this kit. But not the metal tracks. I like how you modulated the OD, looks good. Nice & muddy! Tools look very real, nice touch. Looks good Dusan, great build.

    for my fellow armor modelers, theres an easier way to make tracks than what he did just in case your watching trying to learn.
    Black bottle by Model Master, slow drying glue with a surgical applicator on it. It soaks into the plastic creating a bond differently than the tamiya pants. You can create the lower run around the drive sprocket and the rear idler wheel, then let it dry for 35 minutes and come back and form a perfect set of tracks.

    • @ScaleModelAircraft
      @ScaleModelAircraft  4 роки тому

      Sandpaper (4 wet sanding), local hardware shop, Tamiya sandpaper, Mr.Hobby, cheap sanding sticks from local drogerie stores. But don't use coarse grit, range 400-1200 for armour. For decals, Tamiya Decal Adhesive, Mr.Hobby Mr.Mark Setter and softer, you can't go wrong with it. (Btw, sometimes Mr.Softner can be more concentrated so don't leave it to long). I hope this helps. Should treat the side edges of the Sheridan hull with a slightly different shades as that was RUBBER?FABRICS and not of the metal hull because that was the exposed parts of the folding river covering skirts. That might be painted over as part of the hull but because they are of different material and not aluminum, paint would flake off or worn down showing the soft edges. That tiny hole on the left front of the Sheridan hull should be given a dirty shade of red and a T handle added to the inside as that was the fire extinguisher handle located; it was always left painted RED. Mounting/tie down straps and even simple net are missing from the rear bustle rack because that was where we piled all our personal gears and extra tools; usually, we would strap an empty missile canister to it for extra storage. Finally, to complete a Vietnam and later Sheridan, a cut down 55 gallon drum should be added strapped to the back deck as the Sheridan was notorious for dripping oil underneath the engine! I have been waiting for a more accurate Sheridan model since the early Tamiya one and now, I am finally happy 🙂 Now, maybe someone would make an at least partial interior so I don't have to scratch build what could be seen from the loader and TC hatches!!! Great model, folks!

      @@ScaleModelAircraft Dusan, when you say "depending on the base" do you mean where a Sheridan may have been operating in Vietnam? I f so, I would venture to say that the ONLY place in Vietnam where a Sheridan would not have been covered with red dust would be in the shallow water of the South China Sea! I served in Vietnam a long, long time ago. i think I still might have some red dust between my toes from that adventure! Thank you for your previous reply and your EXCELLENT videos.
