- Why did Callaway add this technology to the Elyte irons?! Has it even made a difference? Well, Alex Elliott PGA Top 50 coach gives his brutally honest opinion on these brand new 2025 irons from Callaway. There has been a lot of hype about the technology that has been added to these irons, but are they actually going to perform like they suggest they will and will they be good enough for mid-high handicap golfers

*The new irons….serious upgrade? I think Callaway have done a great job with the visuals here*
You won't notice the new leading edge with ground conditions that soft though Alex!
Needs to be put up against the new callaway clubs of the last few years to see if actually will be better off for the upgrade or stay with old clubs
Are these all that much different from the Rogue ST Pro?
They remind me of the Wilson D7 forged from a few years back. Didn’t you say that last year’s model were the best irons you had hit ever?
Good review.
Your spec graph at roughly 11:00 refers to offset in degrees. It's measured in mm typically, and has nothing to do with an angle.
Every time I start to think I need to waste money on new clubs, I let my pro hit my irons or driver and he will hit beautiful high draws with no warmup. It’s not the club people! Save your money and get lessons. Don’t believe all the marketing hype!
A pro can hit just about anything. The average joe can’t and clubs can make a huge difference if you are fit and have the right model
Didn't do a fitting, but did a "feel"ing on the last ones I bought. I switched from calaway mavrik to barely used mizuno 245s and it was insane how much better I hit them. It just felt better in every aspect of my swing. Felt more natural and less clunky. Someday I'll pay for a true fitting, but this made a huge difference for me haha.
@@paulkellygolf3671 I agree if you are a mid-handicap golfer trying to play blades but any game improvement iron is fine (they all have perimeter weighting, low COG, typically more upright setup, and more offset). There is no reason to pay $175+ per club. Ignore all the marketing hype and buy something 2-3 years old and you will be good to go for half the price. Get lessons. I went from a 15 to a 7 and did not get new irons.
@@michaelhartman2645 Feel is super important and very difficult to quantify but you know what feels good! My suggestion would be to invest in some lessons and get your swing fundamentals dialed in and only then get fitted. Otherwise, you are fitting the club to a bad posture or swing and you will never improve.
My 10 year old Ben Hogans are Pre-worn too 😂
They do look much nicer, I'm interested in...
What degrees these clubs are?
What peak height you were achieving.?
What land angles you was getting from these clubs.
The soul / leading edge that you couldn't understand very simple, they've softened the leading edge, so that it has less chance of digging in and more chance of gliding through the turf.
As for the name, say it like Elite, what they've done is use Ely, who is the founder of Callaway, back in 1982, Ely Callaway Jnr, so Ely te, Elyte, a nice play on the word Elite as a homage to the founder.
I "get" not wanting actual ugly clubs in your bag, but when it comes to golf, would you seriously sacrifice performance for appearance?
Yes
No
Are you getting the clubs fitted or are you using standard issue? It matters!
Elite is how they pronounce it. But the Ely part is form Ely Callaway founder of Callaway golf.
robot testing last year ai smoke one of the worst distance consistency of any iron from a few reviews, this year might not be any different.
I'm rdy to hit, then preorder
Iron heads are getting smaller and smaller, ie cheaper and cheaper to build. Sorry, Im not consistent enough to hit irons this tiny and post decent scores all the time. I absolutely don’t care what irons look like. If a Costco roaster chicken on a stick would take 5 strokes off my game, THATS what I will play.
Is it better than the Wilson????
Go and test them in a golf super store, only you will know if they feel better for you.
Last years AI smoke irons and driver visuals were terrible. What were they thinking
Copy all the best designs, great metals and brands,.in golfs...( I do had old irons, since Hogan's, honma, ping , Callaway, Nicklaus, and b b b ...only new , release clubs give me powers
Wow
Is this more marketing bs from Callaway?
Callaway claimed they were streamlining there range and the Apex AI 200, 300 were formatted into player abilities in this respect.
This set seem duplicates of the Ai 300.
As for the Elyte Driver / woods range, regardless of the tec, the paint job is horrific!
First
Thoughts on the irons?
@ look good excited to hit them once demos come in from Callaway smoke run didn’t feel the best for me personally. I hope they preform like the previous Paradym sets
You say they are better looking than ai smoke from last year , think you need to revisit your review from last year ,think you blether some crap !!!!
I said they look much better didnt which going back to last year i said the back was plastic looking???
What have they done? Written a whole load of marketing claptrap that means absolutely nothing. I'm pretty sure that hardly anyone really appreciates the meaning of 'AI' and the supposed difference is all in a gullible imagination.
I hate chrome
They look great! Considering you're a pro, using irons designed for tighter dispersion, and that you nutted every shot (or claimed to), your frint to back consistency was awful.
Oh, and by the way, 7 irons always look different to 9 irons! 😁
