      I don't think the fwd ilx would have a chance of hitting 14.5, because all magazines have it around 15.2s, and you already did 15s! I think the TLX 3.5 will be around 14.5s.

I also drove a 23aspec TLX as a loaner while my car was getting the recall work done.. it has the 10spd that everyone swears by but honestly It felt no better to me than my 9spd and it had quirks of its own, especially during cold shifts where it would lurch... my 9spd is smooth be it cold or at normal temps.

      @@RevsALot Hey just a quick question, do you think with this car (3.5 tlx) from a stop when you lightly accelerate that the valves are a little noisy on acceleration? like you only really notice it mostly in 1st and then into 2nd gear but it quietens up once the load is reduced on the engine and you are just cruising. I know these GDI are known to be noisier but this seems to be more like a valve type sound rather than the injectors and its like i said most noticeable when the car first starts moving.

    Yeah, I recently drove a 2020 TLX A-Spec with the 4-cylinder & 8-Speed transmission combo. Acura did a very good job with the programming & made a perfect drivetrain.
    The reason the transmission is good is because Acura married a torque converter to their DCT. This makes it possible for the unit to absorb unwanted shock from shifts when driving around town.
    Even the exhaust notes from the updated 2.4L K-series was nice. I was truly impressed!

    • @RevsALot
      @RevsALot  2 роки тому +2

      The DCT is definitely the more exciting transmission, if it was the in the 3.5 or even the 10spd in the 3.5 it would be so much quicker.

      @MrSamPhoenix 2 роки тому +1

      @@RevsALot agreed, Acura’s 8-speed torque converted DCT is a revelation. So many other similar transmissions feel herky-jerky when driving in traffic. Other automakers simply slip the clutches for a smooth shift in stop-N-go traffic. But this method damages DCTs over time.
      But the simple answer for Acura was to simply add a torque converter… instant smooth without the damage… mind blown 🤯!

      @7tevoffun it was in Sport +, the gf ended up buying a tlx aspec sh-awd. It's a great car, but if it had a DCT like the ILX it wouldn't even be a comparison. Also, it should be able to go in the red a cpl hundred RPM but it doesn't let you. It ruins the paddle shift experience if it shifts for you anyways.

      It doesn't damage the engine, unkess you're going way in the red. It's also about being in control, and needing somewhat of skills to drive and time the shift correctly. The auto shift eliminates the fun of the paddles. The benefit of the high rev is so you don't fall out of the powerband, which it does when you can't go in the red.

    I’m mad that Acura used that slow shifting 9 speed over this 8 speed DCT or even the new 10 speed that is brilliant in the TLX V6, the TLX should be faster and more sporty oriented than the accord but the accord beats the TLX in performance, wtf Acura ?

    • @RevsALot
      @RevsALot  3 роки тому +1

      I agree, DCT would've made this car a mid 13s instead of low 14s and low 5s 0-60 instead of high 5s to low 6s.

      @@RevsALot yes, I’m actually surprised that is a ZF transmission and ZF have that amazing 8 speed that is famous because it almost shifts like a DCT and is also smooth, why their 9 speed have to be so bad, the shifts in the higher revs with that 9 speed are very very slow , even the old 6 speed that Honda have shifts faster, the Honda Pilot have that 9 speed and runs 0-60 in 6.5/6.4 seconds, I think when it gets redesign this year it will have the 10 speed automatic that is an amazing transmission, maybe the pilot can hit 0-60 in 6 seconds or 5.9, that is crazy for a 8 passenger non premium SUV, I wish the CR-V, accord 1.5T, have the 10 speed instead of a CVT and even tho the new Acura TLX and RDX have the 10 speed that’s is really good it should use the 8 speed DCT because I think it shifts faster but well I think Acura used the 10 speed because it shifts quick and is also smooth and I think they prefer that in their cars

      @@B8_ghostt I agree the 1-2shift with the 9spd is really quick, but after that I find it sluggish. DCT ftw, new Type S will have 10spd over DCT so I guess ISF, RCF or 1st gen NSX manual is the better option for me.

    I owned a 2015 Acura TLX SH-AWD & believe me the ILX has nothing on the TLX. Seems like you just don't like the TLX I ran a 14.212 @ 100.1 mph on the 1/4 mile in the actual drag strip. My only mod is a Takeda Stage 2 Intake, I'm positive I could have ran 14s flat because I only had 2 pass and was getting used to launching in the drag strip. Yes you're right the transmission could be better but the TLX is faster than what you think buddy.

    • @RevsALot
      @RevsALot  4 роки тому +3

      This is why I say in the video, "on a roll from 80km to 180km the ILX is just as fast"...Of course the AWD V6 is going to be faster in the 1/4mile.(1st-3rd anyways). I started the speedometer at 80km from both vehicles, and they end almost exact same speed. It is what it is buddy 🤷‍♂️. I LOVE the TLX, just HATE the transmission cause it falls on it's face once it hits 4th gear as this video clearly shows. Look how much quicker the needle on the ILX shifts, it's probably shifting a .10-.20 seconds faster due to the DCT, and keeps it in vtec.

      @@RevsALot Reset the ECU & Transmission. Press the power button twice (don't start up the car) after that press on the gas pedal for 35 seconds, after completely turn the car off (Start Button) and you have successfully reset your Transmission and ECU. Finally turn the car on and drive, the ECU is going to recognize the upcoming 40 upshift so drive fast so the car can know you want optimum shift & power at all time. And that's how you fix the TLX transmission ;). A course not going to be like DCT but it fits your driving style after the reset.
