Marleys Wild Mustang Project Pt 2 - Mustang Heritage Youth TIP Challenge
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 чер 2024
- This is PART 2 of Marleys Wild Mustang Project, where she has gentled and trained a wild mustang yearling and competing in a Youth In-Hand TIP Challenge (Sept 23').
This a youth TIP program run by the Mustang Heritage Foundation and the Bureau of Land Management to encourage the adoption of mustangs that otherwise would be confined in BLM holding corrals. In the video we will go over some of the techniques she is using to train her mustang, some upgrades to the shelter, and plans for the next phases of the gentling process and TIP challenge preparation.
As always, let me know if you have any questions and thanks for watching!
- Joe
NOTE: Here are a couple links to the Mustang Heritage TIP Program and BLM Wild Horse and Burro program. They offer a lot of great information on the history and conservation of the wild mustang and their protection.

Those are very kind words Craig….thank you! We are just trying to get more right than we get wrong😊🙏
Marley & Wyndy, you two have learned so much on this journey together. Mom, Dad, you two have raised an amazing young lady. Take care and God bless 🤍
Thank you so much Adela! She sure has….and her mom and I are super proud of her!
And may God Bless you and your family as well!
Marley looks so proud of her pony, and rightly so. Amazing to see such enjoyment the Mustang has brought your family.
She really is a horse crazy little girl and she sure loves Wyndy😊🙏
Wow How much Marley has grown up. Marley has put a lot of work in. Good for her! You Rock Marley good job. Got to give mom a high five also
Yes she is….way too fast for my liking😭 And I will let them both know
😊🙏
Who knew horses could open doors?
Excellent work on the training Marley.
You are amazing parents.
When this little mustang wants her alfalfa treats she’s bound and determined to learn a LOT to fill that belly of hers😂
Fantastic video, Joe!!! You and your wife are raising an amazing young lady. WELL DONE!
Thank you so much. We are very proud of her and all of her efforts in those project…and I need to mention also, that I’m impressed with all the work that my wife did on this as she was out there as much as Marley was😅
Howdy y'all! Shout out to my quail peeps! I miss you funny adorable burds. What a beautiful blessing for Marley! And how wonderful that you're teaching her skills, responsibility, and hard work that pays off too. If a dog ain't mans best friend you can always count on a horse😅. Lol all jokes aside that's so awesome Joe that your truly invested in raising your daughter the best way you know how. And kudos to your honey for taking care of Wyndy. God bless you all and happy trails!
Awww thank you so much!!!!! I think you’re right about the dog and horse thing too!😊👍
Wow last time I seen Marley she was seven or eight she grew like a weed. Your Daughter is BEAUTIFUL. And amazing with her Horse. It so great and wonderful that you're teaching her these skills, Go Marley.. Marley has the champion belt buckle on. That's a big buckle and you guys don't live in Texas. Lol Your daughter is very articulate. Very mature for her age. Is Marley ten maybe twelve Bless you All. ❤✌🙏
Awww thank you Alan! She is growing up to be a very responsible and smart little girl! Her mom and I are very proud! And we are glad you enjoyed the video😊🙏
I was amazed at the trust she has when she is blind folded.
Yes, I was surprised when I first saw her try it too!
Marley, Mom & Wyndy have done an amazing job in such a short time!
This video made me smile all the way through :)
That’s awesome to hear! Glad you liked that Gregory!
Old farmer trick when showing animals. Play the radio loud to get it used to being over stimulated after teaching it the basics. That way in an arena its less freaked out.
That is a good to know thank you! She definitely was a bit anxious in that covered arena
@@homesteadonomics Survival instinct is when in doubt freak out and run. See a shadow I wasnt expecting run. Get wind to hit my ear or a weird scent to hit my nose run!
Great work, Marley!
( you too, Joe.. 😉)
I’ll let her know!!! And thanks from me as well😅🙏
What a well spoken young woman!
Thank you so much😊🙏
Brother she's awesome.. She came a long way with the mustang... Can't wait to see her ride ..🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank you Dan! She sure has…..and crazy to think that little wild fur ball is becoming quite the smart little horse🐎
Great job kiddo. What your doing @ your age is so remarkable. Any kid couldn't do what your doing. Your very good @ this & I believe you was chosen by God to be part of this program. You are very special & don't let any of the haters tell you any different.
Praying for you & Wendy to have a special bond together for the rest of your whole life's. God's speed my love,
Chris from Missouri
You must be VERY proud of Marley! She is doing such a fantastic job with Wyndy. What a joy to watch the progress they've made.
Awww thank you so much! We definitely are🥰. It has definitely been wonderful to watch the progress unfold!
Having a young daughter that’s into horses this is amazing. The life lessons and responsibilities your daughter is learning will be with her for life. Hats off to you and your family sir. Great video.
Thank you so much Darren! It really has a been a wonderful opportunity! And I’m glad you were able to check it out with you daughter too😊🙏
Absolutely these will be with her for life. l'm 86 and looking back at hours spent with Boulder and Blaze....not my horses, but l felt ownership responsibility 💞
Wow, Marley (and Mom) have put in some work, from a wild horse to this stage, in a few short months is amazing IMO.
Thank you very much! It has been a ‘wild’ ride for sure🤪🙏
I could watch this all day! I'm so proud of Marley, the work and dedication she's put in, and her care of Wyndy. I'm proud of you and Taryn, too, of course. Taryn's nature and dedication to nurture, heal, and guide, as well as her patience is a virtue. Your dedication, care, and ability to build and provide the tools needed for a healthy environment is integral.
Aww thanks Sis! I could too…..and you know mom already DID🤪😂🤣
I will let her know that aunt Jessica loved it 😊🙏
Goodness is running after running after you!! God Bless!!
Thank you! And May God Bless you and your family too!
It is so nice to see a young woman who has so much confidence. It’s obvious she and Windy have bonded well. Look forward to more Marley and Windy (Wendy) adventures. Gracias
Thank you Tomás! Marley has fully embraced the horse training world….she is what one might call ‘horse crazy’ 🤪🥰
Marley has done a great job & what a sweet and gentle horse.
Thank you George!
Beautiful project! Talented family! I enjoy watching horses and commitment to train a wild horse!
Thank you so much Ewelina!😊🙏
I adopted my first Mustang at age 42! I have had 7 over the years. They are amazing horses.
That’s awesome! I don’t think this will be our last. And if I wasn’t so busy with other things as well, I’m tempted to do one myself! But I might just have to settle for doing a burro and making it into a little pack hunting buddy for me🤪
Well done Marley! You’re hard work and mom’s helping hand really paid off . You all should be very proud of your accomplishments. , can’t wait for some more updates.👍
Thank you so much Rick! I’ll let the girls know😊🙏
This was an outstanding video. The fact that the whole family is involved in one way or another is terrific. Windy has made great progress and Marley is growing up so quickly. When does Windy get to begin saddle work? I’m sure that Marley can’t wait to be sitting in the saddle. I grew up in the Midwest, 60 miles outside Chicago, and most kids were involved in county fairs and 4H type things but working with Windy seems so much more rewarding and knowing she isn’t going to end up on someone’s table. That being said, knowing where and how your food is raised is an excellent education in itself. Thank you so much for sharing, stay safe and God bless the whole family!
Thank you Thom! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
As for age….she is about 1.5-2 right now and most folks say saddle training can begin around 3. But that it is horse dependent and mind/body dependent. So it could be close to 4 before. So I guess the correct answer is the age old one….” It depends”🤪
It surely has been a very involved process but also very rewarding and has given Marley a LOT life lessons and maturity building moments too.
And God bless you too!!!!
Joe, Taryn and Marley
I really admire how you ask Marley open ended questions which require her to recall and respond with detailed explanations of what she has learned. It’s quite evident this experience has taught her many lessons and has really bolstered her confidence.
Thank you Russ! I’m glad that came across as well…. At least for most of the segments. Because when we filmed that last ending segment I rewatched it and I totally didn’t let them get not much more than a couple words in…. I can be a bit chatty at times🤦♂️😂
I love how the horse knows and jumps all the obstacles 🌵🌻👩🏻🌾🇲🇽
Mr. Joe what an amazing family all working together and helping each other. That is hard to come by now a days. Marley and Wyndy did wonderful, I am amazed on how well she performed. For a wild horse and learning it in such a short time she is an amazing wild stallion. Hats off to Marley and your wife working so hard to train Wyndy. Before you know it Marley just might bring home a ribbon for every event and place first place every time. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍🐴🐴🐎🐎(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
Thank you Rose! We are very proud of all the hard work she put in!
And May God Bless you and your family as well😊🙏
This is a great metaphor for life which is pretty much about learning a few tricks and performing them for a little reward. You don't really know what you're contributing too, but you keep at it for the treats. Looks like a very worthwhile program.
Thanks for checking it out! I can see your point too😊👍
Wow, Absolutely amazing! Great job kiddo!
Thank you David! I’ll let her know 😊🙏
They are both growing up so fast.
Yes….too fast🤪
Has to have been a rewarding challenge for the entire family.
It sure was! A LOT of work, mostly for Marley and her mom, but definitely worth it in the end!
Such a pretty tri colored Mustang, and your daughter is doing a great job! Horses are so important in the development and responsibility of a child, at least it has been for our daughter.
Thank you! We are super proud of her and I’d have to agree with development and responsibility aspect as well!😊🙏
That was awesome to see! Your daughter has done such amazing work with the mustang 🐎! Also, dad did a great job interviewing the both of them! 😁 Looking forward to the next project!
Thank you from both me and her😊🙏
Awesome job Marley!!! Amazing!!!
Thanks Pat! I’ll let her know!😊🙏
She is doing a great job.
Thank you Ken!
Thanks for sharing this insightful glimpse into Marley’s education with and for Wyndy. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace brother
Glad you enjoyed it! And wishing you many blessings and beautiful upcoming fall weather as well😊🙏
I would have spooked too if someone pulled jingle bells out of a mailbox LOL 😂 This horse is exceedingly well trained.
You and me both! 🤪🤣
Marley has done a fantastic job with that Mustang.
Thank you Matt! She’s worked very hard at it (my wife as well)
Phenomenal job and I know you’re very proud of your beautiful daughter 🙋♀️💖🇨🇱
So awesome, love this, great work Marley!
Thank you Michael! I will definitely let Marley know 😊🙏
What a cute little horse. Intelligent too. I am sure she will make someone a very nice saddle horse with all the work Marley has done. This is very impressive from someone who has been around horses most of my young life (not recently) but what a great horse.
Thank you very much! She and my wife have really worked hard on this and it’s been a very rewarding experience for all of us!
At this point he are planning on keeping her. But we’ve had quite a bit of interest already from interested folks wanting her
Only tough thing for Marley is having to wait until Wyndy is old enough to start saddle training🤪
It is wonderful to see such a happy family too. You are very blessed. @@homesteadonomics
That was awesome to see. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it😊🙏

Aww thank you so much! She worked so hard and we are very proud of all that she has accomplished😊🙏
@@homesteadonomics Thank you! I can tell it takes a lot of patience, kindness, hard work, perseverance and build a good character. All this will be applied to everything in live. Good parents, good doter. Just don’t let her think of herself too much, it will ruin everything.
Love it. Well done!
Thank you!
You've got an awesome family. 😊 You have to be extraordinarily proud of Marley. She shows an amazing maturity and level headedness for a girl of her age. Well done in the show competition. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Keep up the great work. 😊
Thank you very much Mike! I very much appreciate the kind words. We are truly blessed and incredibly proud of her and the girl she’s growing up to be🥰🙏
Congratulations Marley! All your dedication and hard work is paying off.
Thank you Todd! I will let her know😊🙏
God Bless You All For Taking Care Of That Beautiful Mustang ❤
Great job guys, Marley is so enthusiastic with Windy that the hard work doesn't even faze her. Joe you and your Wife must be so happy to be raising a well rounded young lady i applaude you both. Thanks for sharing...
What fabulous progress! Marley has clearly earned Wyndy's trust, and they are building a strong bond ❤. Congratulations on doing well at the competition, especially as the youngest competitor. I used to be involved with the cowboy mounted shooting events we had at the Sierra Vista Riding Club (about 15 years ago), I'll be interested to see if you get Marley/Wyndy involved in those 🙂
You had me at ‘mounted shooting’😍. I would LOVE to get her involved in that. Because I think it is so dang amazing to see. I think we’re going to have to go find an event and check it out!
PS I’d love to see any pics of your competing days!
This was fantastic! I am so impressed by how well your daughter and the horse did and how well you and your wife parent! True Americana at its finest! Thank you for sharing with us!🙏🏼😁
P.s. Would also love to hear more on the homeopathy!
Aww thank you so much Holly! We very much appreciate that! 😊🙏
As for the homeopathy….it is truly an under utilized and under practiced form of heath care. It’s often shunned by more mainstream pharma based healthcare because it is very non invasive and the ultimate goal is to assist the body in healing with minimal input. So obviously there isn’t the money to be made from a profit standpoint. Our pediatrician and family care doctor is both an MD and an ND that practices homeopathy as well.
So while we probably wouldn’t go to in-depth on the human side, as YT and other platforms wouldn’t like that. Perhaps in thr future we could go over some of the remedies we’ve used for the horses and goats…. As the remedies are very similar to what we take😉
But definitely look into it. Amazing world of alternative healing for many things. And to be clear, it’s not to say that modern medicine isn’t good, but just that homeopathy has an important role as well for folks looking to move away from so many pharma medicines.
@@homesteadonomics Thank you, I will look into it. I do understand abt yt and their policies. I already use lots of herbs myself. Homeopathy is one area I do want to learn more abt…thank you again!🥰💫🌸
Amazing! Stay safe and healthy
Thank you!!!!
Impressive bond for Marley and this lucky mare. Lovely
What a great job she is doing beautiful footage. Thank you for sharing this:)

Your daughter is excellent
Thank you very much Jeffrey😊🙏
We are loving the "girl and her horse" videos :)
Well as horse crazy as this little girl is….you’re likely to see more in the future🤪
I graduated in 94, my next closest sibling graduated in 2000. I did not have to do a senior project but by the time my sister and my own children graduated a senior project had to be done as part of the requirements to graduate. My sister having had horses since she was about 5 decided to face her senior project on breaking and training a foal. I have no idea when your daughter graduates or if you were state requires a senior project but if they do this might be a good one for her!
Oh that sounds like an incredible senior project! And I bet your sister enjoyed being able to do it with a horse!
Being that we homeschool, there isn’t a requirement for a senior project. But in our homeschool group, the high school age kids have always done ‘senior’ projects when they are around 16-18…. A bit of a range in age, as about half of them end up finishing with the state requirements to earn a diploma a little early.
And we will likely incorporate that into her curriculum with our homeschool activities as well as the homeschool group activities.
Excellent Marly. Look at Teton Valley Ranch in Wyoming for August - you might be able to bring Wendy to Camp. They have scholarships - I was 12 - learned to rope, saddle & become very proficient rider. Keep up the good works for Wendy, reflecting credit on your family and yourself.
Thank you! I will let her know about that….sounds like an awesome experience! She’d definitely be into that😊🙏
New subscriber here, really enjoyed the progress of your daughter and the mustang. Been fortunate enough to own a few horses that taught my 4 sons and I a great deal. Thanks for sharing and educating people on horse training and care. They don't have to BROKE, just taught to trust.
Great job Marley and Mom.
Thank you! I will let them know😊🙏

How fast they grow!
Yes!!!! Toooo fast for this dad😭🤪
Amazing work, Mooney’s!!! ❤❤❤
Just saw your comment and then it was gone! But wanted to say nothing personal I didn’t know that was you! I just wanted people to focus on the amount of water. And also didn’t know if whoever (now I know it’s you) was in the picture, actually wanted to be in the video! Next time I’ll leave your face 😆
No worries at all! I’m watching the video right now….my buddy just sent me the screen shot of that😂. I’m totally cool with it….LOVE what you’re talking about. Since 2020 I’ve been awakening to all sorts of stuff I would’ve previously dismissed. Anyways, I’m glad I made the video😊🙏
And I didn’t remove the comment I just added the link to my video….but maybe it didn’t save right. I’ll go check it again.
Well done! From CA. 😊

Bravo bravo. You did an excellent job!!! You are an expert little girl!!
Thank you for the kind words Jonathan😊🙏
By the end of the video my face hurt...from smiling!
Awwww….thank you! Now you’ve got me smiling from such a sweet comment😊🙏
saludos desdes BOLIVIA, me han servido de ayuda tus videos GRACIAS
Congratulations on amazing progress.....the noise level in the covered arena surely must have been huge..
You really had to ask if she would do it again? Lol you know your going to be building a bigger horse barn soon 😄
Haha…yep🤣
Wow Marley! Excellent job . Impressive results with Wendy. Will you get to keep Wendy?
Thank you! And as for keeping. Wyndy….. that’s the plan so far. The Mustang TIP program requires you essentially adopt the Mustang. And depending on the competition, you can also put hem up for auction as a lot of folks have interest in trained mustangs. But save for some u foreseen financial hardship, we plan to keep her. Although we’ve already had several folks express interest in her. Some with large pastures and other mustangs….which would be really good for her since she won’t be riding age for another year or two. So we will see…. As ultimately it needs to be the best situation for her.
Love it. Every bit of it
Awesome!!!!!
Wow, i am so impressed... ❤
Marley would be good in the Trail Trials competition
I think I’m going to have to look that up….sounds interesting!
Amazing video!!!!
Marley is so clever girl
Thank you!
Awesome video.
I would love a horse that you trained! Good job!
Congratulations Marley, Wendy and Mom & Dad. You have done a great job with that mustang, she is a very smart horse ! Question; how old is she now and when will she be old enough to ride ?
Thank you so much! Wyndy is approx 1.5-2 years old. About 3 is the earliest to begin riding training. But it ultimately depends on the individual horse.
Awesome video, thanks!
20:34 I'm pretty sure you're all aware of the dangers of this device.
But for some reason it's really troubling me... Momentarily misplacing, or forgetting where your foot is, even for one nano second, could result in a painfully broken toe/foot...?
Very good point! She is pretty carful for that….but there is a bit of risk when working with these large animals. But we just try be a safe as we can.
Thanks for checking it out Dave😊🙏
That is so awesome! Your little girl is doing an amazing job. My daughter wants me to get a donkey. But I'm still debating on it....
