I’m 100% with Eve on doing pre-flights on the taxiway (and I don’t have a drop of German blood 🤣). Things definitely looked a bit sporty on landing. Glad it was better after your go around.
I also (obviously) agree! 😄 She’s right though, if you find a problem during ‘Mag Drop’ checks you’ll effectively then need to work your way back against the waiting traffic or enter the runway & exit to ‘safety’ 🤷🏻♂️ I’m sure this topic will open a Pandora’s box of opinion & discussion! 😂
Lovely return video, Dark Lord…. Never tire of the Isle ofWight…… You must stop hiding Eve’s sunglasses, though, when she needs them !!…🤫 “You should know better by now”, …..by the way ….Sorry to point that out, sir….😂 Love your camera angles, catching the opposite traffic was a nice touch… And we amateurs are much encouraged when legends of the air like ‘The Dark Lord’ have to “go around”…. 👍 Always love your content guys…. Keep ‘em coming, sir…. Captain Ray 👨✈️
You are, as always sir, a gentleman 😊👍🏼 I don’t like to point out mistakes, that’s Eve’s job! 😄 I’m still very much an amateur pilot, but I’m happy to fuel the myth that I’m a good pilot 😂 Those little cameras produce some amazing images, technology is amazing these days! 😮 Thanks for your continued support Captain, I always appreciate it 🫡👨🏼✈️
We have been spoilt, 2 videos in one day. Go around was good call, looked like the wind dropped as you got below the tree line and caught you still in a crab and on a strip with trees close by best to have another go. Excellent piloting skills Geoff.
"That's so inefficient" really made me chuckle. In the GA world it's perfectly normal, microlighting, checks are much more efficient. I did all my checks just before the hold in my GA days, now I see the error in my ways. Nice video and good to see you Copilot back in the aircraft.
Aww, love you guys, thanks for the mention 🥰! We 'enjoyed' a sporty x-wind landing when we got back too, good exercise tho', right? That's such a picturesque airfield you have there, with no neighbours I notice. Reckon it's perfect for the '1st Invitational Dark Lord Summer Fly-in, BBQ Music & Campover'. 😆 Steve & Lily 👍
It was great to meet you & Lily, thanks so much for coming to chat 😊👍🏼 We have a great little airfield. We do have neighbours & we are mindful that there are some kind enough to vigilantly ensure that we comply with regulations regarding movements, altitude & noise. We are fortunate that here in England there are so many individuals monitoring the activities of other people in their community. For that reason any ‘Fly-In’ would need to be held at an airfield with more flexible movement requirements 😊👍🏼 Hoping to see you again in the future, one way or another 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I have to say I was quite surprised by the amount of lift over the New Forest, Geoff - that really was a boomer you had to defeat whilst under the airspace. Superbly handled go-around, too - calmness and decisiveness worthy of an airline captain! Thoroughly enjoying your content, best wishes to you and Eve. 😊
You are kind to say sir 🫡 Thanks so much for taking time to watch & comment & also for your continued support of the channel, it’s greatly appreciated 😊👍🏼
Thanks Andy, it’s a great destination & always feels like we’ve been on a ‘mini’ holiday when we fly there 😊 Thanks for watching too, always appreciate your support 👍🏼
Go-Around was absolutely the right call. Flight back looked lovely although I know what you mean about the turbulence over The New Forest. I’ve got one video in particular where I’m being chucked about in a Eurostar like you wouldn’t believe! It gives you a right old kicking with the thermals in spring/summer.
It’s crazy because you need to stay below 2,000ft for the Bournemouth/Southampton airspace & you’re constantly having to fight with the conditions 🤦🏻♂️ Nonetheless an amazing route & worth the effort 😊👍🏼 Thanks for checking in again
The trees on the edge of the runway would have created a bit of curl-over in that crosswind. All nicely handled though. It's interesting that Eve has a background in gliding. That's what I mainly do.
She did it in her youth, but I don’t think she has during her adult life. I did some paragliding when I was younger but none of that compares to the proper gliding that people are into these days 😊👍🏼
Thank you very much, as you can see it got VERY untidy as I got closer to the ground 😣 But I’d rather have more hours in the air than on the ground 😉👍🏼 Really appreciate you watching & commenting ☺️
🛩️Luvvit🛩️. I'll be back there soon, having returned South after a northern🙃interlude. Many past times spent in beautiful Ashmore, Cranborne, Semley, and further west in Sherborne.
I had a LOL moment when Eve had the “ineffectivness moment” 😂 But she’s absolutely right😊 Great to see you flying together, enjoy your flight adventures👍🏻
She’s a great co-pilot & that’s why I’m having some secondary instruments installed on her side. She seems resistant to my suggestions to learn to fly but hopefully I can slowly indoctrinate her 😄🤞🏼 I really appreciate you taking time to watch my videos, especially as I know you have your own editing to be doing 😊👍🏼
Well done mate, enjoyable video! Just a thought……looking at that windsock runway 22 might have been an option. I went over to Popham the other week, left on 19 and tried to come back in on the same runway only to realise the wind, what little of it there was, had completely reversed. It was enough though to have me overspeeding so threw the landing away and came back in on 01. Can’t get it right every time 🥴
Definitely 👍🏼 Although wind aloft was 320’ all the way back & even on approach. It was a challenging decision & had I not felt so settled & comfortable on my second attempt I probably would have thought twice about 01… Westerly elements at SV always make things interesting! 😄
I agree, anyone who thinks they’ve got it all together is an accident waiting to happen. Aviation is exciting because every flight is a learning opportunity 😊👍🏼

Thanks for watching Giles! I think Eve could nicely reorganise the preflight check process given the chance! 😄

Great decision to go round!
Yeah, it didn’t look very controlled so I’d rather go around than try & ‘sort it out’ & end up binning it 😬👍🏼
@@FlyingDarkLord absolutely! I should have binned a landing last summer, you are always learning when you are a pilot!
I agree, anyone who thinks they’ve got it all together is an accident waiting to happen. Aviation is exciting because every flight is a learning opportunity 😊👍🏼
That German flag cracked me up good! ☺️
😂 She can’t stand inefficiency! 👍🏼
@@FlyingDarkLord There should be a run-up area on airfields with that amount of traffic. Or a FISO service to direct ground traffic 😉
Perhaps you could apply for the position? 😉😄👍🏼
I agree with Eve's point. If there is room to pull out of the way it's a bit rude to sit in the middle of the taxi way to do your pre flight checks.
🤷🏻♂️ I can’t argue with her logic 😊👍🏼
You should have shown eve my panel
Good idea! 👍🏼
Traffic jam up here? ;-) When I look down at the traffic I feel sorry for the peasants,,,,,, mere mortals!.
It’s easy to feel smug when you’re not the one stuck in the traffic jam! 😄 Even if it’s from the opposite carriageway, but especially from the air!
