This is a tutorial on how to use E-Sys to code the "Anti-Dazzle" feature in your BMW. Specifically for the F8x, but it's very similar for lots of different models. It's a complex process that I have attempted to walk you through so you can do it yourself!
I also discuss a lot of the terminology used around this technology as well as the coding terms and abbreviations commonly used that can be very confusing. I end with a quick demo of the feature working!

Thanks for explaining how to actually VO code, im going to be doing LCI tails on my 2016 m4 and i was confused how to actually write the edited VO onto the car. But after watching this video it gave me a better understanding. Thanks
+0ooooogoooo glad it helped! I think seeing the process instead of reading it removes a lot of the mystery 😁
THANK YOU for the explicit definition and explanation of coding-related terms. I've been coding my BMWs (Bimmercode only) for years and have read 100s of posts on coding and have intuited the meaning of terms over many years. The first 5 mins of this video corrected and clarified my understanding tremendously! Very helpful. BTW, do you have any updates for cars with laser headlights?
Fantastic! Glad to help. Sorry, nothing for laser headlights currently
I have had anti-dazzle since 2016. it is truly great and gives amazing view of dark roads. The headlights operate independently of each other. The US spec appears to be less bright than the Euro spec. Sooo it might also be a good idea to select a higher brightness. I have not noticed that this function does not work at low speed. However i do not use the auto function all the time because I believe the motors will wear more quickly. I have not had anyone flash high beam lights or been pulled over for light issues. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CODING ANTI-DAZZLE BECAUSE OF THE GREATLY IMPROVED NIGHT VISION. If you do nothing else anti-dazzle it well worth the price of admission.
+Bob Fognozzle yes I love it!
Damn, that is a lot of work.
+@pierrecastanets1974 it is, but totally worth it!
Every car should have this.
+Tommy Walker 💯
My only issue is, if I do this how can I flash those dirt bags, when they are blinding me.
@@THEOGGUNSHOW 😂 excellent point. Fear not, you can still flash the high beams when it’s on auto mode!!
@@HelpMeDIY Thanks for the clarification. 👍😁
How did you get the Cheat Codes list? Is that something I have to install, or does it exist as default through E-SYS?
Thank you so much for such a detailed explanation. You rock!
+Gilberto Rodriguez you’re welcome! Home you’re a subscriber now. 🍻
Thanks, brother! Very nice trick.
However, I noticed that mine *F02* doesn't have *FEM_BODY*.
So, for those of you who have not found this unit, you should search for *FRM* unit. There you're able to find all necessary parameters (like *C_HBA_ENA_V_HI* which stands for the Speed HBA Enables and *C_HBA_ENA_V_LO* which stands for the speed HBA disables). Also, cheat codes should be applied as well. You won't find the same as on video, albeit in a different formulation.
+Johan Kitelman you’re welcome! Thanks for the info 🍻
Hi, can you kindly help with High Beam Assistance and Assistance Driving View on a G20
+Samuel Bamgbose I am sorry but I have zero experience with those cars. Check out Evan Goyuk’s channel, he may know
Super helpful information. Thanks for explaining everything in detail. Keep the videos coming! =]
+Corey Work will do, thanks!
Thank you! You explain complex things in a fabulous and understandable way 👏
+Maleth Ouk thanks!
Going to try this on my F30 2012 335i Msport.
+Bruno good luck! Let me know how it goes.
Sometimes I get flashed but I can see a perfect cutout around their car and there is no way they are being dazzled. I think they are expecting to see lights go off and when that doesn't happen they instinctively flash
If they put on high beams to punish I x-ray them by manually turning on high beams which puts the box of light right on their windscreen... :)
I have factory adaptive xenons with hba. I think the cutoff is sharper with xenon so the effect is even more pronounced
+frozen I’ve never been flashed with it but I would have done the same
@@HelpMeDIY this is the best video on UA-cam explaining coding bmw really clear and very well produced thanks for putting it together
I think so too, thanks! Hope you’re a subscriber now 😉
@Help Me DYI. Thanks for the awesome video. I have an 2015 F25. While it has LHM43 and LHM44, it does not have FEM_BODY. From what I’ve read, F25 has CAS and FRM instead of FEM_BODY. Unfortunately, I cannot find the “no glare step 3 cheat code” in either CAS or FRM. Would you know where that step 3 might be located? If not, would you know what the parameters are changed for step 3? You can see the details if you hit “review” button. If I knew those, I could try and find those in another module. Thanks!
+Aecon31 wish I could help more, but I don’t know. Post the question in the forums? 🤷♂️
Very helpful video…
May be this’s an irrelevant question but I’m struggling a lot to find someone do the same on Volvo cars which has the same features and software disabled as many other European cars.
Do you know the approach for volvo or if someone can help coding my modules?
I’ve been looking everywhere online and apparently volvo owners never dared to change it like you
+Khaled Mahgoub sorry but I do not
Nice write up awesome detail!!
+Brian Schwab thank you sir!
I followed this to enable anti-dazzle on my F87, it was similar but had a few differences towards the end. I only needed to select and code the FEM_body and KAFAS ECUs and I didn’t need to load and code the individual check boxes to enable NGHB. Afterwards, I checked for codes C_HBA_ENA, C_HBA_GRHB_ENA, and C_HBA_ADAPT_SHUT_ENA in module 3073 of the FEM_BODY ECU and they were all set to 0x01 (hex for 1, or on/true). I have a 2018 LCI model with the adaptive LEDS; I’ve heard non-LCIs or those with xenon headlights are a bit trickier
otebol thanks awesome! Thanks for the additional details for the F87!
@@otebolThought 18s didn't work. I've read that on newer cars you can code it in but if you turn your lights on in front of your garage and see a box of no light in the center you are doing it wrong.
@@KilaByte33 I'll have to double check, but I went out that evening after coding it to try it out and I could see the beams adjusting to traffic and when someone was driving in front of me I didn't see the beams shining brightly into their trunk
I have a G30 without the driver assistance package. I was told KAFKA cameras come with this option. However, my car has the Active LED Lights (auto dimming for oncoming traffic) and a camera that looks like the camera in your video identified as KAFKA. My question is can I code SLI with this camera?
+Word Truth never had one so I can’t answer that, sorry.
Does this work for 2023 models? Does it void your warranty? Thanks for the awesome video!
+J H don’t know about 2023, I don’t have one. Should not void any warranty. You’re welcome!
I have a 2022 X4 with full led headlights. Will the coding work on these? Great video.
+avgriebel Great question but unfortunately I have no experience with that and don’t know. You can either check out the forms for the X4 and ask there, or give it a shot and find out. Either way report back and let me know!
Hi I have the f36 from 2014 but I retrofittet original adaptive LED headlights from the LCI model. They also have all features including steeringlights etc, will this exact tutorial work for them as well even though I do not have the original adaptive LED headlights with xenon installed ? as of now they are only shutting off the high beam once the car notices incoming traffic/lights.
thank you in advance!
+@Teaz88 I have no idea but if you try it let us know!
Great video. Very clear and informative.
Will this procedure work on a 2017 g30? The ecu names are different. If I can correctly correlate the ecu's, will the cheat codes work. Thanks for your answers.
+docO best answer I can give you is maybe? 🤷♂️
that was exellent mate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So enabling anti dazzle will reset all the FDL coding done previously?
But I can simply redo the FDL coding afterwards to have both Anti Dazzle as well as all my custom FDL coding?
Correct!
@@HelpMeDIY thank you!!
Hello, can my e71 x6 achieve this function? Original factory built-in adaptive headlights

I've a 2017 G30 with Adaptive LED and High-beam assistant. Can I activate Anti-Dazzle/Anti-Glare by coding?
+Kaan Burak ÇAKIROĞLU good question, I’m not sure
Hi, did you by any chance take your esys install guide down?
+Roby Edumor I still have it up, but it’s a “Members Only” video now for those that join the channel.
So even as today (9/23/2020) are you saying BimmerCode still won’t be able to code any of what you saying in this video?? I have 2015 X5 F15, and I have everything (all the equipments) you mentioned.
+mark tu yes that’s what I’m saying. BimmerCode cannot VO code and that’s what you need.
Help Me DIY : Got it. Thank you for the info. I guess I need to learn everything again... by the way, do you know will this coding work on my F15?? Like I said, I have everything all the hardware you mentioned.

Does this work for F30 with adaptive LED, I was told it doesn't work for the f30?
+Daniel sorry never tried it on one 🤷♂️
Hi there! I have an F25 X3 and my AHL module went out. I have a replacement but I’m not sure which ECU I have to code. Would you happen to know if it would be FRM? I don’t have FEM orTMS on E-Sys when I have it read the FA. Thanks in advance!

Hello new to BMW coding, is there an update to G8x series?
+Benjamin Dao probably? I’ve never looked into it for that platform, sorry.
very informative 👍
+MOULI SAI thanks! Hope you’re a subscriber now 😉
To my understanding, this coding will not work with 2018 Adaptive LED hardware. Apparently there were hardware changes introduced in that model year that prevent the coding from enabling this feature. There are heated discussions in Bimmerpost regarding the 2018 and later models on this topic. I have an F80 Competition vehicle with Adaptive LED and Auto High Beams functions, so technically it should work, but it doesn’t.
+Oscar Martinez yeah I’ve read some of that
@@HelpMeDIY Nevertheless, thank you for your contribution to the F80 chassis community. It is truly an excellent and reliable platform, and I look forward to many more years with mine.
I will wait for the LCI G80 until I decide to go with the new generation.
I subscribed to your channel.
By the way, not many people tackle this coding subject with the clarity that you did. I particularly appreciated the explanation of concepts, acronyms and procedures.
+Oscar Martinez thank you for the kind words. You’ll probably like the video I just posted today about ISTA+ 😉
I know you posted this a year ago. Thanks for all this! Question, after extensive research some people are saying that the anti-dazzle will not work on US lights even if fitted with the adaptive LEDS. I have an f10 m5 and people claim it’s not possible due to lighting hardware not software. Can you confirm this to be true or false from your data collection? I have seen later information this is possible to code. I am not sure what the facts are. 2. People claim you can do this on BimmerCode and master settings. Is this true or false. I’ve seen posts when they are in footwell settings. Is e-code the only true way to do this? I know there is a variable change or maybe less steps with f10 m5 any idea where to point me. Many thanks. More than happy to donate for sound information you may have! Many thanks!
+Derek Sheldon mine are US lights and it worked. Not sure if BimmerCode added the ability to do this or not. You can always try and let us know 😁
@@HelpMeDIY thank you.
Great video! I managed to code everything. I noticed the settings on BimmerCode were reset for the lights. Do you know if I use BimmerCode, will the the anti dazzle lights be affected?
+Ulysses Hernandez thanks! No, you should be fine.
Is there a way to code g30 so ambient light in the doors changes to red and flashes if door is open?
