Wildcamp at Ringing Roger in my new tent.

  • This week I continue my journey to ultra lightweight camping and take my Lanshan 2 tent and Quidian 2 backpack up Grindsbrook onto Kinder Scout.
    Having a phone signal was particularly important this week, and once I had used the seven minute crossing the 5g signal was very poor. I walked along the Northern Edge towards Mad Woman's Stones, but the signal didnt improve so I cut across Edale Moor to the trig point and then on to Ringing Roger.
    I didn't do much filming when I got there, and the phone rang just after midnight to say we had a new grandson, everything was OK and mother and baby were doing well!

    Congratulations on your new Grandson 🎉🎉🎉. You put a few miles in on this one pal. Most of us dont realise, but we are positive trace wild campers. Leave no trace we've been there and leave it better than we found it. Im a real believer in the positive manta, that said Phil. The soiled clothing would have been a test for the best of us to carry out 🤢🤢🤢

      Yeah, I normally say, leave no trace, leave it better, but there is a limit! Thanks for the comments!

    Nice film as usual. Share the frustration on littering. It's my pet hate. Keep them coming

      Thanks for taking the time to comment Stu, I know you're busy. I think people just expect someone else to pick it up, so bloody annoying.

    Great video Phil , I have to have a rant sometimes to let off steam , I think a very easy addition to any hiking or camping kit , is a plastic shopping bag (most people already have loads at home) to bring your rubbish home and bin it , I usually end up picking up a bit of litter other people have dumped like sports drink bottles foil party balloons etc , I wouldn't be bringing those leggings and pants back though , best wishes pal 🖤🖤🦇🦇

    Nice pitch. You did well to get the tent up there. I know that spot well. The descent is brutal. Don't even get me started on the litter. Some will be accidental, some won't. I know an idiot who has left the outer of his tent somewhere in Wales. It's why, leave it better works. If we can all take just one piece of litter it helps. Unfortunately, spoiled jogging pants are a step too far without a proper bin bag ! Glad you are enjoying the tent.

      @@huntonthetrails thanks Andy, I pitched at the Woolpacks last week, the mesh inner isnt much protection against wind chill. I've ordered a four season inner, added bonus is that it has a t zip!

    • @huntonthetrails
      @huntonthetrails 24 дні тому +1

      @@PhilWaud Yes the T zip is on the Lanshan1 and not the 2 for some reason. T zip is much better. As for the mesh inner, i much prefer that in summer. It means if you get a warm day ( I know rare) you can open up both doors, have a nice breeze flowing through and get protection from the midges/bugs.

    That was a trek and a half finding that pitch. But good that you had signal for the super news of becoming a grandad again.
    Totally understand your rant about the litter.
    There’s no excuse for it. Why spoil such a beautiful area of nature? Countryside code! Leave no trace. Easy.
    All the best Phil. How’s your new inner for the Lanshan coming along?
