Monster bee hive discovered in a shed.

    This bee hive certainly makes it onto my "monster" bee hive removal list. I never really know how big a hive is until I get a reading from my thermal camera, and when I saw this reading, I was impressed.
    After finally getting the boards and battens off the shed, where is Wreck it Ralph when I really need him, the hive was fully exposed and you could see just how magnificent a hive it was. Lots of bees, comb, and a ton of honey. Well, maybe not a ton, but it was a lot.
    Initially, the bees were not open to the idea of being relocated and I did have to smoke them to calm them down, but once the removal began they started to cooperated and I was no longer stung. With the help of Stan the Man, and Good Time Charlie we made short work of a large hive. The comb and bees were then moved over to Stan's house where they are doing fine.
    Temperatures were predicted to reach the high 90's for the day, but due to our early morning start, we were out of there before it got to hot. Unfortunately, this was only the first removal we did for the day. The video that I posted last week was the second one we did that day, and by the time we finished that one, it was VERY hot.
    Well, I hope you enjoy watching the adventure, and I can not express my gratitude to all who spend their time watching our antics. Until the next one, God's peace to all. Mr. Ed

    I wondered what you did with all the trash you were picking up while doing your court ordered community service. Now I know. That's a good idea, stuffing it in people's buildings. Keeps it out of the land fills. I also like the double glove technique for extra protection. I double up on my underwear like that sometimes.

    After you watch a bunch of UA-cam bee removal videos, you start to realize how good Jeff and Randy are, not just the technical side of cutouts, but how to work behind the GoPro. The sound is always good. The picture quality is tops. They speed up the parts that might be less interesting. They understand what we, their viewers, want to see, and they deliver it day after day, year after year.

    Ok that last part was actually kind of funny, but I feel your pain Jeff. I am trying to get my super shy father to do the same line as what you do on your video. He either says it to quiet or says it backwards which I don’t get how he does cause he’s very intelligent.🙄😂 I do have a couple of questions though on the bee removal stuff. #1 how do you know when the come is good enough to be saved? I.E. stuff like know how much is to wet is and old come you know they will never use again. Because I had a beehive box with a frame missing when I bought it. It was pouring rain for almost 2 months which I thought the beetles would take over but it dried up and the hive dealt with them but the bees through that time filled the empty frame slot with come. It was a tad bit flimsy and that was the first time I’ve ever touched straight come with no plastic frame built into it. So I don’t know whats a really good judging method on wether come is good enough to keep or not. #2 Why did you not want to use the mix honey/brew come in the hive. I thought that type of stuff was fine for a new hive.

    • @JeffHorchoff
      @JeffHorchoff  3 роки тому

      If the comb that is removed has NOT got honey over it, I can use it once again. I do use the mixed honey/brood comb all the time....so long as it is not covered with wet honey. Have fun with your dad, he'll get it right eventually. Thanks for watching. God's peace Hayden.

    At first I thought I read Mother hive...was thinking you found the home of the hive that spawns the swarms at the house on stilts.

    Not sure our Queen 👑 could be Wrangled by you Guys, without you'all ending up in the Tower of London... 😆
    She does have a very large Knife (Sword) to cut Comb with... And maybe Knight you.
    Mind you, your Saints already. Above the status of us poor mortal(s) Beeks ! 🤭
    Hello from a very cool wet Scotland... (90 degrees sound like Heaven.) Today it was in the 50s... Bees stayed in their 90 degree Hive Boxes, wise Lassies that they are !!!
    🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
    This Video should be called ("Who are you going to Call ?") "Bee Busters", with the biggest Bee Vac !?! DirtyRooster couldn't supply that could he... 🤣
