- Ok so yea most know about all these features I am showing but to be honest I did not until I saw a youtube video about the tailgate (lol) then I read the manual and found the window feature and how to change the annoying door locking feature.
I hope this helps at least one person enjoy there ridgeline a bit more, its a awesome truck.
now if I could only get the dinging to stop when you dont put your seatbelt on (lol)

Even if you blow up the motor? I allegedly abused my truck and had a head gasket melt down with 56K on the engine. Even though it was still under warranty Honda of America deemed abuse by me and I was out the cost of a new engine (13K) Love my truck, but I was wronged of so I still believe, be careful.

I have owned my 2008 RTL for 2 years now and I still love it. Supposedly they have something like a 90% owner retention rate. Meaning 90% of the people that buy them keep them. I had a 2005 Element before this that was totaled in a rollover accident. I loved that vehicle too. If my Ridgeline gets totaled I will definitely buy another one. Honda engineering is spectacular.

These things are like software easter eggs. It's amazing that they have teams of people who sit around and think up these cool features. The sad part is, only a small percent of people will ever know they exist. Great video!
Amazed. Ive had mine for 3 years and didnt know my tailgate opened sideways. My battery died once and i couldn't access my jumper cables because they were in the cargo area. I couldn't figure out why they would put a lock on the door if you couldn't fit a key in it because of the tailgate. I thought it was the dumbest design ever. Now I know that I am the dumbest ever. Thanks for the moment!
I have a 2007 RIDGELINE with 168,000 miles. I was wondering when do I need to change the timing belt❓ I heard every 100,000 miles. But I have a buddy that hasn't changed his timing belt and his Ridgeline has 140,000 miles and still going strong
@@tumarbongrox6074 I just changed my timing belt on my 2007 Ridgeline @ 146,000 miles. The information for that particular truck and year is to change it at 120,000 miles. The belt still seemed to be in decent shape and I'm sure it could have gone on for quite some time. The big risk in waiting is if it does break then you will likely cause severe damage to the engine because some of the pistons will collide with the open valves.
While changing the belt it is also a good time (because it is all exposed) to also change the water pump, the idler pulley, the tensioner pulley, and the hydraulic tensioner. It doesn't cost that much more. When I changed all of those parts they all seemed to still be in really good shape but when I was done I couldn't hardly believe how much quieter and smoother the engine was and even smoother driving. I was feeling some vibration in the steering wheel before and now that is completely gone.
@@tumarbongrox6074 You should change it every 100,000 miles. It will last longer than 100,000, but it will eventually break. and when it does it will total your truck. Change the timing belt every 100,000 and it will run forever

2013 Ridgeline RTS. To fix the "all door unlock" when in put into Park is easier than you explained! (at least for my truck) All you do is put your put your truck in park, shut the door, put on the parking brake, leave the truck in park, turn the key to (II) and hold down on the master lock/unlock button. You will hear a click after about 5 seconds. Release the lock/unlock master and within 5 seconds, turn ignition switch to lock (O). DONE!! So now when you get to where ever and put truck in park, all doors unlock!! Put truck in drive and when you get to 5-10mph, all doors lock. Just sayin'...
Going to follow these steps when I set it up

Ive always known about the swing gate . Best secret is the trunk. People that don't own this truck have no clue lol.. I get the looks all the time when I open it. They are like oh wow...
Also, the alarm will go off if you lock the truck using the key remote and then unlock it from the inside. I left my son in the vehicle one day when I put away a shopping cart, and I locked the door. He unlocked it from the inside to get out, and the alarm went off.

If you put the key into the door and turn it to the left three times, like you're locking it three times basically, your alarm goes off. I think it's if someone is trying to rob you as you're about to get into the truck or some sort of thing along those lines.

I like the option of all the doors staying looked after you park. the GMC all the doors unlocked when in park, that is a great opportunity for someone to run up on other side of truck, open door and now you're getting robbed.

One day, at a red light, i had to put truck in park to jump out and shut tailgate. Now im back in drivers seat for the green light.
Truck Will NOT move into drive. Engines running, tires will turn but cant get out of park.
Towed truck home at the confusion of cop, tow driver and father-in-law mechanic.
Oh it gets stranger from here...next notice windows (all 7)

Instrument panel goes out (no RPM, Speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge) Nothing in that part of panel registers. Turn signals arent respondinh so i use the working hazards to indicate my turns for now.
Radios fine, headlights work, and interior lights all still working.
Have you or anyone had to deal with these electrical wonky mishaps that you know off. Looking for suggestions

Lisa Vasil I just found the off/on lock/unlock button for the trunk inside the glove box on the left. It's black on black so I never saw it.

In LA it good to have your doors locked. Once I had my keys in my back pocket and I went outside the next morning and all my windows were open. Thank goodness all my tools and work stuff weren't stolen. These tricks are not that important to me...just a worry.

You can turn on headlights on with remote! Just found this out 😂
Another part of the window/ key fog thing. If you hit the button once to unlock then again to roll windows down it will relock the doors after a few seconds. I can open my windows to cool the interior without leaving the living room.

Thanks man! I just bought an 07 and am discovering all sorts of things with it. I bought it because it doesn't flex like most trucks, feels like the 84 Nissan it is replacing. Later Nissans flex like Chevys. No bueno here.
Right. I have the same & it feels like the 91 Pathfinder, which hugged the road like the 82 Lincoln. Only thing I don’t like is the lack of clearance underneath.

Just that it opens and closes with the switch on the driver's door. My warning indicator only shines and buzzes if you shut off the vehicle with that window open. Double click door unlock on your fob and hold, the windows all go down. Same on driver's door key receptacle.
Can you tell me a trick on how to avoid turning the cargo lights on with my knee? It happens a lot.
Yeah, that happens to me too. I'm on my 2nd Ridgeline, and check cargo lights directly now.

Thank you much. The window thing is awesome, only had the truck 3 years and never knew. Just got an oil change not at the dealer and went online to see how to set it back to 100%. Now if I can just get the diagram showing the engine shape, in yellow, off, I won't mind the $1300 for an oil change which turned to 4 new tires and...other stuff I can only marvel at, with my jaw on the floor. 35k miles and still a mystery, but when everyone else is snowed in, I give them rides or save packed schoolbuses stuck on the mountain. Ridgeline: it's like love, you learn something new each day.

give me a trick to disable the seatbelt alarm and turn off the running lights when I want them off! I know I can get an extra belt connector and leave it plugged in and I could probably pull a fuse or something, but OWNERS bought the damned thing and should be able to turn things on or off.

@tobythesandwich No no no (lol) I knew about the trunk before we got it but we didnt know the tailgate would swing open. We had been just dropping it regular style and I happened to see a video where the guy swung it open and I ran outside and tried it and thought I had found a pot of gold (lol)

Just bought my 2nd Ridgeline. Only like Gen 1. Going to try that Lock Feature out but How could you not KNOW about the Secret Trunk. The REASON I went from an SUV to the Ridgeline. Best Truck in the World. Selling my 2006 w only 82,000 miles because I just got a 2011 w only 6,000 miles lol
Altho the BMW Dealership didn't even know about the Secret Bed. lol

fuckin sweet man thanks for the video I did not know all of that when I got mine from Honda the girl did not know anything about the truck as well I did not have a fuel door tab it was missing and my xm radio still does not work at all or even register I have had it a month already they are ordering me a new one. That was cool buddy and thanks for this video I found the trunk and noticed that it has entry for a key but I was wondering how the hell do you get a key in there lol now I know Thanks again man.

you can't its a safety feature. I assume some some kid got his head caught one time and remote window raise is now longer a feature

On the unlock door features. Do you mean all doors will unlock after putting the transmission in park? As you know, the default is only the driver's door. It would be nice for all doors to unlock on park.

@bezzwands Man when I read in the manual it would do this it was real late at night but I ran out and tried it then I grabbed the wife to show her and I was all excited like I won the lottery or something and I dont think she was very impressed (haha) she said "cool" and went back inside........

Me too, I love this truck! I had an Element before this and I loved that too, but I wanted V6 power and a bit more storage room, so I went to the Ridgeline when my Element was totaled in an accident a few weeks ago.

My windows went down today and I knew how to hold the button to make them go down which is what I did. Well then only the drivers somehow woulds go up no matter what I tried..I used the trick to put key in door and clicked it to the left twice and my windows went up..yayyy. ive never had windows problems but this saved the day for now..2010 Honda ridgeline.. thanks a bunch.

@TheBRETTYEATON lol, yeah the wands were in there from the trips to the last movie and they sorta stayed in there. It was only on the video for a split second, Thats so funny you caught it..."haha".. I didnt even catch it and I shot the video :-)
Also you can stop pressing the remote on the roll down feature and it will stop. Great way to crack all windows on hot day for cooling it down on the inside before you leave.
Also if you leave all windows down the truck will auto lock the door and turn the alarm on. If you reach in and pull up the door lock it will sound the alarm....you have to use the key fob to turn off the alarm!! Scared the crap outa me when this happened the first time.
