At the Winter Games in Turin 2006, Stephane Lambiel received silver and took the third Olympic Medal in Figure Skating for Switzerland after 1924 and 1948. The choice of the music track fits perfectly to his performance: "You're beautiful" by James Blunt.

How is it possible this man has not won gold?? Seriously?? The grace, the flow, the utter freedom and joy in every move. The mesmerising spinning. The new skaters are great (but other than Yuzuru) I don't get the same gravitas feeling.. Find it funny they didn't go with the radio friendly vers. of that song.
There were also Alexei Yagudin in Salt Lake City in 2002. The legendary scater. You should watch his short program

Because he was competing against Evegeni Plushenko who is a beast. But cmon! Stephan is so insane, I just can't believe why I didn't cross with this performance before.
And he also fell a couple times during his routine.
For me he's the most perfect skater ever. Every move, every element says how much he loves figure skating. Sorry but I don't see this fire in eyes in skaters now...
I agree with you. I said once that he is not only a skater, he is the heart of this sport... you can feel every movement in all his performances... he makes you feel all the love the music/the ice/the skater have for you
I remember being 17 and absolutely in love with him, and this. This program is one of my fondest skating memories of all time.
The whole skating generation of Lambiel, Joubert, Takahashi, Verner was so special, I miss all of them. I feel like men's skating is no longer as captivating as it was back then.

I recorded this on VHS back in 2006. Stephane was one of the best spinners of his time. Great song choice and it was a memorable performance.
His spins are fantastic!
I can't help feeling that it set him free to stop competitive skating. His programs were already captivating with all the regulations, but now without them, he is even better. Free to express himself the way it fits the music. No more jumps, just because he has to do them.
A True Artist! OMG No present skater can match that level of artistry ... very fluid and just mezmerizing. I am glad he is coaching Shuma Uno...at least he can pass his sheer brilliance to a student

Stephane was always a favorite of mine ... he could spin like a top, jump and he always had amazing footwork ... it also didn’t hurt that I thought he was very attractive! Nice to see he’s become a top coach!😽💕
