Hi, nice bit of fishing, reminds me of fishing the delta for steelheads. I would be interested in your description of fly, and rig you are using. The last time I fished in UK was in 1966 before my posting to Singapore. What is the cost of your yearly licence, I presume that you still have private and public spots. It would be interesting if you could give some background to your experiences. Cheers mate. Harera
Hi, a uk migratory fish licence is £86. The majority of rivers are a mixture of day ticket water or stretches leased or owned by fishing clubs and associations. I personally approach the smaller rivers I fish with an 11' switch rod and use a 13'6 rod for bigger rivers such as the Tyne and Tweed. This year I narrowed down my fly selection to fish mostly small, sparsely dressed black and silver tube flies. They worked for both salmon and seatrout. It was generally by all accounts a very poor year in the UK this year but there are still fish to be had if you are able to be on the water at the right time. As for background to my experiences it's all there in the videos. I've only been fishing for two years and I must have made about 50 videos since day one.
When you have that much spare line out and they come towards you then dont reel the line in but just hit the front of your reel with the palm of your hand, it will bring the line in 10 times as fast.Just try it at home and you will see it's quite easy and fast:)
@@abakerslife Wonderful. What are your thoughts on? The local shop kind of talked me out of it by stating the series didn’t have a lot of power but I didn’t quite believe him. I like their line up on this series. Great video as always
I like it but I'm not the best judge as it's pretty much the only salmon rod I have owned. Hopefully it will be the only one I ever own. If you make a nice cast it has all the power in the world. When I fished the Tay with it I didnt feel undergunned at all. I will say that I find it very durable and robust which I put down to the resin.
Sitting here chuckling at your heart rate go through the ceiling when you hooked the first fish. Why we all do it ! Brilliant vid
Many thanks, who needs cardio eh?
Very nice fish.
Thanks 👍
Congratulations to the beautiful fish. Oyes, another great video.
👍👊
Thankyou
Well done sir on keeping your run going sea trout are the best eating for me love them
Thanks, I love them too and thankfully they are plentiful enough on my coast to keep one or two a year.

Some beautiful seatrout you're getting. I had two that scraped a pound the others were all under a pound.
Yeah it turns out I live in the seatrout capital of the UK! I'm going to start trying for them in the sea soon.
That second one hit like a truck, Rob. Nice
Thanks, the seatrout fishing was a revelation to me last year. Soon I'm going to get on the beach and target them in the salt.

Ok thanks, I will give it a try. It doesn't work on one of my reels though as it has a closed face.
Just try a few times on the open one and see if you like it since it sometimes is the diff between losing a fish or catching it.@@abakerslife
Great stuff, when was this filmed bud? Double figures on sea trout this year already? Phenomenal if so…
Cheers, it would be back in July 23
@@abakerslifethanks. Love the channel

@@abakerslife I greatly appreciate it. Thank you
Why did you kill that fish?......???
Because eating it alive wouldn't be very nice.
What a reply 😂 😂
