Being an Irishman I have to inform you that the Celtic in Celtic Woman is pronounced as Keltic (with a K sound), not an S sound. Yes there are the Boston Celtics and Glasgow Celtic FC who do use that form of pronunciation, but nobody in Ireland, where these ladies come from, would ever replace the K sound. Celtic is pronounced Keltic!
I saw them in concert about 10-15 years ago. The set and lighting was amazing. The ladies' voices were spectacular and the fiddle player is a bundle of energy. Fantastic show.
The four ladies singing are Alex Sharpe, Chloe Agnew, Lisa Kelly, and Lynn Hilary, all have been famous before joining Celtic Woman and are now following personal carrers with great success
I fell in love with this group with this particular show. There have been many other shows and singers which are good, but none of the others affect me the way this group does.
Celtic (pronounced Keltic) Woman was formed in Dublin, Ireland. They have had numerous different members over the years. I'd love to see your reaction to Téir Abhaile Riú by Celtic Woman. Yes, part of it is in Irish but the number is so much fun and it really does show their versatility. It's on their official channel with the title: Téir Abhaile Riú (Live At Morris Performing Arts Center, South Bend, IN /2013).
Since you enjoyed this video, I recommend that you look up a video of the entire concert. It's too much for a reaction video but I think you will appreciate the amazing talents in this group.
I’ve been a fan of theirs forever! I love their music and all Irish music! There is a treasure trove of Celtic music with wonderful performers from Ireland. My paternal grandmother was Irish and sang Irish songs to her children and my Dad sang many to us.
Omigosh, so pleasantly surprised to see this pop up! I saw this concert as televised on PBS back then & became an instant fan. I'm a classic/hard rock guy but these women are absolutely amazing. If this song doesn't hit you...well, I dunno. My wife & I took my mom & oldest daughter to see them in 2009 when they came to Tallahassee....they sounded exactly like this; simply wonderful. As a man of Irish stock, I take a tad bit of pride in my Celtic heritage & love the music
Mairead Nesbitt 🎻 💃 The violinist!! She has no equal. You guys would love her stunning performance of "SHENANDOAH". Unbelievably beautiful, and deeply emotional.
The woman who sang 3rd and spoke at the end is Lisa Kelly. She was a founding member of the original group. She has retired from performing and lives in Peachtree Georgia. She teaches singing. Try listening to a song titled May It Be sung by Lisa Kelly. The song is from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
I got to meet their Violinist Máiréad Nesbitt, Sweet Lady. I loved when she played Shannondoah during one of their concerts. I could picture a green valley with a river running through it. They have a lot of songs on here, some sung in Gaelic. Pretty much all their work is great. Staying on the Celtic theme, have you ever watched "River Dance" or "Lord of the Dance". It will blow you away.
My wife started out listening to Celtic Thunder (men). Then we discovered Celtic Women. All I can say about both is, "Wow!" This is their first concert on PBS. This performance is at a real Irish castle. You need to see Mairead Nesbitt (the violinist) you'll notice she's barefoot. On up tempo songs she runs back and forth across the stage while playing. Chloe Agnew, the young blonde left then rejoined the group recently.
You Raise Me Up” was written by Rolf Løvland, a Norwegian composer, and first released by his band in 2001. Groban covered the song in 2003, making it an international hit. There have been over 123 covers. It was originally released on the 2001 Secret Garden album "Once in a Red Moon", with the vocals sung by Irish singer Brian Kennedy,
I have heard of them , never took the time to listen to them , that said , WOW . When you said 3 minutes have went by , i thought yeah right . But this song captivated me . Thank you .
Thank you for this. Celtic Woman is my all time favorite from all genre of music. This made my day. Also watch them perform from the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Great performances there.
I've followed this group for over 10 years and I don't think they release a bad performance. I really enjoy the Lisa Kelly era. Her rendition of "Fields of Gold" and "The Voice" are exceptional. The singers have rotated through the years but they have kept the quality very high. Their version of "Orinoco Flow" , or "She moved through the fair" is quite good. I think this is from their first show which was intended to be their only show. It was originally done to showcase the talent of Irish vocals (I think this was in 2004). They have toured all over the world since then. Good reaction.
Saw Celtic Woman in concert 15+ years ago at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. They were fantastic! If there are indeed angels singing in heaven, I'd be willing to bet that they sound like Celtic Woman.
Love seeing Celtic Woman in your reactions. I'd love to hear your reaction to "Non C’è Piú." Beautiful ballad with blended vocals. Just don't ask me to pronounce it.😁
Excellent albums! (2004) "The Last Rose of Summer (intro) / Walking in the Air" "May It Be" (end title "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings") "Isle of Innesfree" (I love my home best kind of song.) "Nella Fantasia"
Saw this live on t.v...must be at least 20 years ago now. Their version of, "Amazing Grace" is stunning as well, among others. To add a request though: check out the bagpipe version of, "Amazing Grace" by The Snake Charmer. This goes for the viewers too.
Hunt down Celtic Woman doing Teir Abhaile Riu (live at Morris Performing Arts Centre, South Bend). It is performed partly in Gaelic, don't worry about it, & it is a fun song. The woman on violin, Mairead Nesbitt, also does a thing called Lord Of The Dance which is worth a watch.
You CAN say in the same breath Celtic Women , Queen and ELVIS.... Listen to more of them please and you will understand me ( particularly Christmas songs )
Celtic is pronounced with a hard C or k sound. It's an ethnic definition for the Irish, Highland Scots, Manx, Welsh, Bretons, etc. For some reason, for the Boston Celtics NBA team and the Glasgow Celtic football team, they've changed it to a soft C or s sound.
They performed in the backdrop of a real castle in Ireland… It’s definitely not Disneyland! The Celtic (Keltic) Women are a real deal. I’ve listening to them and watching their videos for a long time. They are beautiful and talented. Go discover them… they have many more fantastic performances. Check out their Christmas songs! They are amazing!
In my opinion a great piece of music and performance is Granuaile's dance by Mairead Nesbitt, she actually wrote that peace of music. The concert was performed at an actual castle in Ireland. The name Celtic woman is owned by one person just like the platters name was, which means the members can be replaced at any time and the name stays the same. Cheers.
Celtic Woman is such a wonderful group. Their voices are angelic and of course they very beautiful as well. It’s hard to follow them but I would recommend Josh Groban’s version of this song. Very powerful as well
Pretend like celtic has a K at the front instead of a C and I think that is the correct way to pronounce it. Celtic Woman is some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard in my life. Enya and her sister Maire are also some great Celtic singers.
This ensemble started in 2004 and in 2005 toured a dozen cities in U.S. and appeared on several morning talk shows. It was founded with Chloë Agnew, Órla Fallon, Lisa Kelly, Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, and Máiréad Nesbitt, but now consists of Mairéad Carlin, Tara McNeill, Muirgen O'Mahony, and Emma Warren as of July 2023. They have been described as being "Riverdance for the voice." My favorite song is "O, America" written in 2009 as a tribute to America and what happened on 9/11 - ua-cam.com/video/nLNn2YflwNs/v-deo.html
If you like this I would recommend you checking out Celtic Thunder which is a man's singing group from Ireland. I would suggest the song Caledonia from The Show.
If I'd had a screen grab of Sam and dark haired vixen singer, they look like twins! Love both of yours' reacts. Next up- doing time in USSA quicksilver messenger service
Great reaction. CW performances are amazingly beautiful. Please give a listen to their perfomanace of Amazing Grace from this same venue with the blue lit "castle" in the background. It will bring tears to your eyes. There are other performances of Amazing Grace by CW (different singers) but the one from this venue is the best. Thanks for your always great reactions and intelligent analysis.
You'd be doing yourselves a disservice if you didn't listen to Josh Groban's cover of this song. Celtic Woman's version is amazing and so is Josh's. He has a glorious voice.
If you liked The Celtic Woman you might check out Loreena McKennitt Donny Portmore or Samin Night or you could check out Clannad Theme from Harrys Game I also think they did I Will Find You from The Last of the Mohicans.
Their voice are so beautiful!! The Celtic is pronounced like "Keltic" not like the basketball team. The Irish pronounce it with the K. There is another group with men called Celtic Thunder and they are superb. You must react to some of their performances.
Phil and Samantha- You are doing a terrific job with your reactions. I would love for you to do a reaction to the song “Pieces of Dreams” by Johnny Mathis. The Live version from the Tonight show.He was. Barbra Streisand’s favorite singer when she was younger. She has said of him:” There are good singers; there are a small handful of tr uly great singers;and then there is Johnny Mathis”. He is the third best-selling recording artist of the past century behind Frank. Sinatra and Elvis Presley. This is a phenomenal performance by JohnnyA Amust See !!I am sure you will enjoy it. He received two standing ovations that night .Please react to it. You will be so thrilled you did.It is simply spectacular !!
Hi. 'Celtic Woman' are always that spectacular and have been making music for a long time. This song was originally an Instrumental with lyrics added later. It was made famous in the UK by ''Westlife', then David Foster arranged it for Josh Groban. Sohyang has made a marvelous interpretation with Shane Filan of 'Westlife' in the audience. Here it is, if you like: You Raise Me Up on Korean TV Show Immortal Songs 2 (KBS). ua-cam.com/video/zFyndK9VOCk/v-deo.html Cheers.
Hello Phil & Sam, I thought I'd suggest a new artist/band to give a listen, if interested. "Simply Red - If You Don't Know Me By Now (Official Video)" (by the channel: Simply Red) --Simply Red are an English soul pop band formed in Manchester, in 1985. The frontman and lead singer of the group was Mick Hucknall. This song is from their third studio album called "A New Flame" released in 1989, and this song I've suggested was the bands second #1 hit single.
You guys should really see their performance of "Amazing Grace" from this same concert. ua-cam.com/video/HsCp5LG_zNE/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared And by the way the name is pronounced Keltic not seltic. The Celtic people from Ireland.
Celtic is pronounced Keltic!
thanks for this. I've heard it both ways and always wondered about it.
I'm Irish on my parents' side(s) of the family and I don't sweat it. Erin go bragh!
Their music gave my father solace and joy when he was in hospice, Parkinson's disease. I also love their DVD's and so enjoy them.
They are always superb…you can find a lot of great traditional songs in their catalogue - and they really don’t have any duds!
I fell in love with this group with this particular show. There have been many other shows and singers which are good, but none of the others affect me the way this group does.
Agreed

Please do Danny Boy from this same concert. It’s exquisite! The days with Chloe and Lisa is my favorite time also.
The days of Maev's voice SOARING above all the others were my best days! Maev's solo of Danny Boy from their first concert is epic!
Their version of Amazing Grace is also a must watch.
They have many shows and songs....over the last 15 years, from Ireland
My wife started out listening to Celtic Thunder (men). Then we discovered Celtic Women. All I can say about both is, "Wow!" This is their first concert on PBS. This performance is at a real Irish castle.

Chloe Agnew, the young blonde left then rejoined the group recently.
I was looking for a Celtic Thunder mention. I also heard of them first. Both groups I learned about from PBS and both are amazing.
The call with Celtic woman should be your next song 😊😊
Loved your reaction..... and this was not filmed at DisneyWorld, but in Ireland, in front of Slane Castle- amazing location!
I saw them live and it was wonderful!
Celtic Woman - O, America!, written after 911, these ladies know how to pay tribute to America
This was a truly angelic rendition of one of the most powerfully emotive songs ever written

Yes listen to the Josh Grobon version.
This concert will hook you onto Celtic Woman and it that will enhance your life forever. Go ahead jump in!
There are many videos on UA-cam from their Christmas concert. Since we're getting close to the season, now would be a good time to explore those.
We saw them in concert about 7 years ago and it was fantastic with dancing, singing and so much! I highly recommend seeing them in concert.
They raised me up. Thank you.
you need to hear the josh groban version of you raise me up
You two need to watch this entire concert, we did it was actually broadcasted on television. Absolutely great, bagpipers in amazing grace was awesome.

Stunning !
They are frequently on PBS stations.
Love your channel, it's pronounced like Keltik from Glasgow, Scotland. You should here the male singers too !!! Keep up the good work !!! Cheers !!!
Wow. I'd say more, but my words would be weak tea compared to this stellar performance.
All the very best.
Cheers.
Where are we that when we see majestic backdrops and hear majestic music the first thing we compare it to is Disney. Walt would be amazed.
Love seeing Celtic Woman in your reactions. I'd love to hear your reaction to "Non C’è Piú." Beautiful ballad with blended vocals. Just don't ask me to pronounce it.😁

I am amazed that most reactors don't realize this is a Gospel song.
Spelled with a C, but pronounced as a K. Great reaction to an awesome group of ladies with spectacular voices!
No not Disney! 🤣 It looks like it was a concert at Powerscourt, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Thanks for the upload
This is a «Secret Garden» song. They wrote it . All other versions is covers

"You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Auld Lang Syne" would also be good ones by Celtic Woman.
Very pretty. They have beautiful voices. But you should really listen to Josh Groban sing this song. Will give you chills
