This video was SO helpful! That 1/4” plug attached to a stick is super cool. I went with a metal chopstick we had in a drawer. Command hook is a good idea, too. Thank you!
I like clear Gorilla Glue because it doesn’t dry too quickly, and remains a little rubber-like, so it’s easy to clean off the excess even after it dries.
I usually can feel the bridge plate with my fingertips. typically it is just glued to the inside of the top and easy to feel. not all ukes have a bridge plate though. As long as it's under the bridge you will be fine.
I enjoyed watching and learning, thanks. Can a pickup be installed while building the uke, before the body is closed up? It would seem finishing might be the only problem with that. Thanks again.
Great video on how to put these in the guitar, very helpful. You mentioned that sometimes you have fitted them as close to bridgeplate on the soundboard as possible if you are unable to reach the actual bridgeplate due to a small soundhole. Does it still sound ok doing it this way?
@@beansproutmusicalinstruments Thanks for the advice and tips.I suppose an inspection mirror also helps. I will maybe try with some bluetack on a stick,if you were closer I would bring it to you but Iam in the UK a few thousand miles away, your work is great by the way and your instruction is clear. Thanks
Top tip using super glue wood to metal. Put a tiny drop on the metal and then let it dry before trying to fit. Then glue and fit as normal. Love your work, man.
We had a KK Aloha twin pickup professionally installed in the C1K Martin Ukulele. No matter what amp we plyg it into we get terrible distortion and howl feedback. I'm not sure what to do? Do you think it could be installed wrong or defective ? The wires are short but are not secured out of the way. They are just in there over the bridge. It's hard to see in there. Feeling frustrated that it can't be played with the amp.
Sorry- I can’t help without seeing your situation in person. I have doubts it is the pickup’s fault, any acoustic instrument can feedback in different situations. Playing directly in front of an amp is usually problematic. Try it off to the side, a few steps back, etc… also, feedback is usually frequency dependent, so EQ can dial it out. This is just a whole rabbit hole.
You could put it next to the endpin, as long as it still goes through the end block. If you want to put the jack in a place with no block, then you need to add one to give a thicker/stronger place.
@@beansproutmusicalinstruments Ah! I tend to overthink, so I very much appreciate this expert advice.. And thank you for the response even after such a long time from posting this. Amazing channel!
Beautiful Ukulele! I love the colors in the Pistachio Wood

Thanks for this Aaron. I know it's a year old, but watching you do the install sold me on the K&K Twin Spot for my little Kamoa soprano pineapple.

is it just that? a jack connector glued to a metal stick?
Thanks for making the video. It was just what I needed to learn. Wishing you all the very best 2024 from the U.K.🇬🇧
Very well done and informative. Many good tips.
Thanks for showing the installation process. Great information. Could you show how to do a pickup install on a banjo uke sometime?
Great video ✌️ can i put this pick up on a guitalele?
Super helpful, thanks! Gave me the confidence to order one and give it a go!
That uke is so pretty!

Great lesson, not too hard an upgrade. Much appreciated.
Hello, how do you know your under the bridge plate? Is the pickup should be towards the end of the bridge plate? Thank you.

Thank you very much for the very quick reply. I have learned something new.

Should try kremona pick ups. Minimally invasive and no body mods to change the inherent Acoustics of the instrument.
Real good job! Thanks man!

It’s ok, but I think the bridge plate is better. You can use a small stick and some putty to increase your reach through a soundhole.

Was thinking about trying this. Your video convinced me. Have tried tie-wrapping the cables before you put the clip on the body?
I have, it makes it harder for me.

I have a metal mushroom head strap button for my end pin.. if I install a K&K Pickup, where else should my strap button go?

Do you still get a lot of hand noise from touching the body just like an under the saddle piezo pickup sometimes produces?
I don’t know if it’s more or less than an under saddle. I guess I’m just used to it on stage and don’t notice it.
@@beansproutmusicalinstruments Thank you.
can you do same at enya nova pro ukulele ?? carbon fiber one
I imagine you can. I’ve never drilled a hole in carbon fiber before though. Be careful.
how precise do you have to be on the placement of the pickups? Thanks!
meaning: the sensors near the bridge plate
I don’t think it makes a lot of difference. Just get them on the bridge plate, but not touching a brace.
Part number/supplier for reamers?

A wooden dowel would word as good as specialty tool
I’ve done many that way. But, it doesn’t snap into place like this does. This tool snaps like a guitar cable into a jack, making it much easier.
Get a super glye
Can you connect the 1/4” TS cable direct to a mixing board? Like a Yamaha 16 channel mixer?
I often do, but a DI or preamp is best. It would depend on the instrument, I imagine.
