Also if you driving a hole for your end pin jack consider using the stewmac.com End Pin Jack Reamer. First apply some painters tape to the surface of your instrument to reduce any splitting during the drilling process. The Setewmac End Pin Jack Reamer is the tool you should be using for a perfect damage free hole in your precious instrument. Of course there are other tools and ways to do it but your results may vary.

I made a video of this process too. The stepped drill looked like a good idea - I just used and new drill bit after a smaller sized one. So that Misi uses a rechargeable battery? Looks like a good solution as I had to cut a panel out for the main unit but at least I have the tone and volume on it.
A very insightful and helpful video! Although the background soundtrack is a little bit distracting . . . sounds much like my wife, running on the treadmill upstairs! 🙃

my uke has a thicker piece of wood just on the spot you are doing the hole.
i just want to know if the jack is going to be long enough to go until the other side.

i am asking this because i can tell that the uke you are using on the video doesn´t have that thicker piece of wood in that spot cause you can make the hole in a very easy way.

I have 3 instruments with Misi A Trio.
1 Kala Triback Limited edition all solid tenor ukelele (spruce/rosewood.
2 Quatro Venezolano.(solid wood)
3 Ohana Tk 38 all solid mahogany soprano.
The first 2 are very loud and clear.
But the Ohana,
i have to bring the volume up to 12 o'clock
While nr 1 and 2 are same volume already with the volume controle at 9 o' clock.
The only thing i can imaging is that the distance between the saddle and the top from the Instrument are higher.
Do you have any options for me sir.

Well, I'm gonna have a bash on a cheap kids uke , then go for it if it, I'll put one on a mid range concert ,, it took me 20 years 25 years ago fit my first Uke Banjo calfskin vellum , I kicked myself for paying over the years ! UA-cam is awsome for those step by steps ,and you get better each time , but this ,mmmmm, it's gotta be 2, poss 3 cheap ukes b4 any thing expensive,,great vid guys

Shannon Womaje I agree. I love the Ukulele Underground content but absolutely hate the distracting background music. Ive read this kind of comment many times on their videos. It seems that their reasons for using that format outweigh the requests of their viewers. Maybe Im not hip enough 😆

Under which circumstances is it NOT necessary to use a Pre-Amp? Because usually the Pickup goes into a preamp before leaving the uke.
Good instructions. But wouldn't it be easier to sand the bottom of the saddle than to route the channel deeper (especially lacking the slot routing jig)? Maybe the point is to preserve the existing side support of the saddle? Or accurately preserve the original action fixed by the saddle height?
What happens to the little computer board with the battery? Does it get mounted somewhere? Maybe I didn't see that part.
It's the preamp. It's permanently attached to the endpin socket into which the jack goes: piezo pickup - wires - preamp - socket - jack cable...
You may want to consider the K&K Aloha Twin pickup. A lot less intrusive and reproduces a nice natural sound of you Uke. Its a passive piezo pickup but they have done a really good job on the manufacturing of this pickup and no capacitors or batteries inside your instrument. Its a lot cleaner and has a decent output for a piezo pickup. I personally didn't want to put a ribbon pickup between my saddle and bride no did I want to route my bridge. All around the K&K Aloha is much simpler and lighter on your instrument. No saying the MiSi is a bad system just pointing out that there is other options that are highly thought of such as the K&K.
I put a twin spot on my tenor, I wounder if I could get my hands into a soprano, have you tried it?
The spot transducers pick up too much body noise from your hands, clothing etc while playing

What about unbalanced output of each string. Splints?
A hand made? A super tenor. The volume control fell off first gig. Sent it back, also a buzz on a note. Got it back, C string is half as loud. Called. Not their problem.

So is he routing out the entire saddle slot to make it deeper, or routing out a smaller channel within the existing slot, or something else? I really want to see a drawing or get a better description of what's going on.
Yes, he is routing the entire channel. The pickup ribbon is the same width as the saddle.
I was having a heart attack until I realized he's the luthier that made or supervised the making up this very uke. I wouldn't try to do this myself. This is for a pro!

Ethanatic s Oh no! That's awful! I chickened out myself and ended up buying an electric one.
It's not a good idea to route the bridge. If you don't have any previous experience using the router you might spoil your uke. Instead file off the saddle to the thickness of your pickup, little by little. Always check to see if you're sanding the saddle equally on both ends of the saddle. In case you made a mistake on that step, buying a saddle would cost you way less than buying a new uke. Hope this helped.
It's a demo by an expert, I built an electric guitar from a kit that I managed to eventually get working, it's not an easy thing to do unless you do it all the time, and it's very easy to get it wrong and ruin the instrument!

This is a specialist job. You would have to be mad to try this yourself on a decent ukulele.
After watching this, not sure I will trust anyone to install one of these on my $1800.00 Kanile'a. Fedex insured shipping will cost much less then a hack job.
