What an incredible game this was, I vividly remember the airport level out of them all The graphics and colours are so good and it just goes to show that you don't need some really powerful machine to invoke the feel and atmosphere of a place within a game Top class
the music and/or sound in SNES double dragon an ok standard i played SNES games sound better than on SNES double dragon Genesis/Mega-Drive double dragon had a better retro sound to it
I use to play this game alot for the SNES, played it with my old friend R.J. Williams (who played Kit Cloudkicker on Disney's TaleSpin) back in 1992 and we beat this game like 67 times...
@@jasonlee7816 That rules out the abomination calling itself Double Dragon 4, then. At least the SNES version has a pedigree including such fantastic console exclusives as Revenge of Shinobi. :)
This was the first videogame I ever played. The console wasn't mine, so I just played a few hours before my evil cousin noticed his mom have left me play with his Nintendo SNES, so he took away his console from me. I was six and I absolutely loved the experience of playing. I asked my mom for a damn Nintendo for years, but she thought it wasn't for girls, so I had to wait and pay for mine. I could do it untill I was 14. I only remembered the name Billy and the character wearing a blue outfit. Omg, I so excited. I need to play this again now at 18. I know nobody cares, but damn. Nostalgia hits hard.
I never played the Japanese version, but Super Double Dragon is one of my favourite games of all time on ANY system. I played the crap out of this game and still enjoy popping this one in. It's one of those games that I NEVER get tired of playing and was one of the reasons I bought the SNES back in the day. So fun and satisfying! Of all the Double Dragon games, nay of all the SNES games, this one is truly a SNES masterpiece!
This game never gets old. I love being able to use different attacks to make combos more interesting. Blocking is satisfying to do as well. Especially if you can catch the enemy in either an arm grab or headlock.
Ikr. It annoyed me that they never held the L or R buttons to do any spin punches or spin kicks. No cyclone kicks or holding down while kicking to do the kick low then kick high move followed by a good ol uppercut. Those moves were so clutch man.
My brother and I would play this game for what seemed like years before we beat it. It was so tough, a beat em up with brains. Yet it was so satisfying when we finally beat it
I used to play this game with my brother and cousins when we were kids. I love this game. I have the remixed version for Gameboy Advance- DOUBLE DRAGON ADVANCE, which is just a remake of the original DD and Super DD.
Although the international version isn't as good as the Japanese version due to lack of options and a couple other stuff, I still love this game. There is a trick then when you do L/R kicks to stun them, keeping doing it. It helps a lot. The nunchuckus, VERY fun to use.
so sad that now a days its all about the graphics and not the challange and for the time this game kicked but not to mention the sound track was epic i hope one day we look back at game like this and learn
This is a solid beat em up in the double dragon series but is brutally difficult! It's def one of a kind in the fighting design and moves. You actually need strategy in this one.
Best in the series without having to go to the arcade IMO. I really wish they put this in the SNES classic....along with TMNT4, would have made it perfect.
The reason this game is so "bad" by folx standards is because its essentially a rushed and undone game. Technos was going out of business during the making of this and pretty much ran out of money to finish the game so they pretty much put out what they had finished thus a could be legendary game was just a stale ending to a landmark franchise. As for a kid playing this, ironically this is my most favorite.
The game was intended to have more elaborate levels, but calling it "stale" is exceedingly harsh. It is miles ahead of that steaming pile called Double Dragon III. In terms of DD rankings for the NES/SNES, I would rank it second after Double Dragon II. Too bad they didn't do another one for SNES and we might have had a "definitive" one.
Sure, it's missing content but who cares. The combat, visuals and music are all really damn good. This is actually my fav DD game and one of my fav beat'em ups ever. Top 3 for sure.
@ antiembishop07 if Super Double Dragon was incomplete (rushed) if Technos Japan was going out of business by running out of money why didn't they go bankrupt until 1995 or 1996 years after the release of Super Double Dragon in 1992 or 1993?

There's others but I can't remember, but there aren't that many differences.

PLEASE HELP...I have this game on snes and on the start up of the game it doesn't allow me to pick coop but yet during 1 player u can push start and join the game...does anyone know why this would occur?
Yup. Played the US version, then later played the Japanese version, almost like two completely different games. During the 90s, the US versions of a Japanese game were always changed to fit the "domestic audience" or something.
I loved this Game it was awesome..I wish they made more Double Dragon Beat'em ups like this one--I wish they make more beat'em ups like this one..the Beat'em up Genre died a long Time ago, and now the only kinda Games exist are Sports, Shoot'em ups, and RPG's both which I like, but they might fall off like it did. We need to bring the Beat'em up Genre back!
Charge moves require some focus, and for you to be constantly moving. Most of the time, I don't have a lot of time to hold the L or R Buttons until the Dragon Meter reaches halfway.
Is this the game someones brother was killed and their looking for the killer? I remeber playing A double dragon game like that but im not sure what game it was.
I love Double Dragon. When my godson starts playing games I will show him how games were great in those times, that way he won't become a Call of Duty obsessed fool.
Well the US version was very good, it was till a lot of fun. When they brought it to the states they took out a LOT of very fun game play features was the thing. For example, the boomerang weapon was not useless in the Japanese version. When you threw it and it came back your player caught it right back and you could use it again. That wasn't possible in the U.S. version. Knives (when timed right) could be hit or punched right back at the person throwing it at you.
God i used to rent this on weekends with my buddy and we would beat this over and over and over and over. You could trap the enemy bosses if you were on both sides and just do endless hits until they died. If you button mash tf outta rhe punches. It sounded like a machine gun. Lmao
