I always loved the Double Dragon theme song. I have very specific favorite versions of it. But no matter what version I hear, wonderful childhood memories come flooding back to me. Its one of my favorite theme songs right next to the Street Fighter II theme and many others.

DCM Neon rocked, and it made me hope Wayforward would do Double Dragon IV. Alas, that didn't happen (I'm sure Wayforward would have made changes that would have made IV more palatable to those who wanted a game that made use of the modern hardware more.)
I love Double Dragon and I love River City Ransom. When I heard the music key up for the second to last boss fight, my little brother and I almost lost our controllers as we jumped up and was like WTF>?!?!?!? Cross Overs like this (or homages) just didn't really exist back then. We fought those Twins so many times just to fight with the music. Still count it as one of the best surprise moments for me in all of Gaming since the VERY early '80s
It's less of a crossover and more of a homage. Nekketsu Renegade Kunio-kun (americanized as Renegade) was not only the first Kunio-kun game, but also ushered the golden age of Beat'em Ups, followed by the likes of Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Final Fight... And Double Dragon! Double Dragon's engine is based on Nekketsu Renegade Kunio-Kun, and the driving motive for Billy and Jimmy mirrors the plot of River City Ransom: the girlfriend of one of the two has been kidnapped and they set out to rescue her and take out the bad guys on the way.

Hattori Ryuuichi and Hattori Ryuuji (Ryuuichi and Ryuuji roughly translates into Dragon 1st and Dragon 2nd), localized as Randy and Andy, are the Dragon Twins that pops in River City Random and Rival Showdown. And their theme is Double Dragon. And when Ryuuichi and Ryuuji's health drops enough in Rival Showdown they embody Billy and Jimmy, gaining an upgrade to their moveset and becoming more fearsome. They are basically the Gate Guards for the stairs leading to the fight against Yamada (Slick/Simon) on the school's roof.

i like the return of the double dragon one the best. Good quality. Neon is pretty good too. I think the original nes one is still the best though just because it was first.
Well I'm here to @ you from the future to agree that Double Dragon Neon Title is awesome. I take a liking to it because it blends both synth and rock elements very well. We see all the rock covers of the title theme and M1 all the time and i think Neon's captures it very well. I don't get sick of listening to the guitar solos and original bits it added.
The PC Engine theme is from the end sequence. A more electronic version is played when Jimmy and Billy do their "dynamic entry" through the walls to confront the Shadow Warriors. Recently, for the "River City Girls 2" soundtrack, Megan McDuffee did a variation of the Double Dragon theme called "Marian". The context: While on adventures, Marian took the time while captured to work out and build herself up. One day, she fought back and found she could kick butt as fiercely as Billy and Jimmy. (Marian is a shopkeeper in "River City Girls" while Billy and Jimmy run dojos that Misako and Kyoko could gain better attacks at) When doing a supernatural investigation in some woods, Marian gets ambushed by a witch and hit with a mind-control spell. Awesome post, I was so sad when this theme wasn't in "Super DD (usa)" but it was fixed in "RoDD (japan)" even though I now own Return of Double Dragon it doesn't fix my childhood trauma 😂

I agree neon is great but how can it not be the original arcade version . One of the first games I remember ever playing...man...time flies ..gaming has done so much for me ,more than most people will ever know..
It wasn't on a particular platform. It's from a CD released by the composer in 1988 called The Original Sound of Double Dragon. The idea behind the album was for the music to be heard that year the way the composer originally intended it to sound free of the hardware limitations of that time.
My all time favorite will always be the Super Double Dragon version. As a kid I rocked out to this one a lot. Neon is probably second with the third one right behind. Won’t lie, for years I thought they didn’t out it in the second one cuz the start of it was so awful I always pressed start. Not until I was an adult I let it play through and realized it was the theme, it is only ok though
Has anyone done a version of this with modern instruments? I love it on the game but obviously the tech was limited at the time. I don't mean a remix. As an example an actual professional orchestra did the "Zelda" theme, they didn't change the tune, just used prof instruments.
