The sheep were stupidly frustrating to keep in the containers, they kept jumping and sinking up into the ceiling and no clipping to the top because of the trapdoors, it's annoying but this is a very efficient design.
Thank you so much for this build. This is the only working build in 1.20. Since a sheep eating grass to grow wool after being sheered, the grass block no longer turns to a dirt block. With no block update the dispensers don’t activate, so the basic wool farm is now broken.
An automatic cooked chicken farm would be a fairly simple farm to make - You have a dispenser connected to a comparator and hopper, and whenever a chicken lays an egg, the hopper takes the egg and brings it down to an area with a bottom-half slab and lava above - this'll kill adult chickens, but not baby chickens
Thank you for making this video. I’m bad at following directions, but I was able to follow your instructions easily and the farm works great! Subscribed.
I'm excited to start building this tonight. I just finished raiding an ancient city with some friends. I died twice, and lost all my stuff and the "loot" I found (it was trash loot). But hey, one of them said if I give them wool for it, they'll share the loot. :D So I'm gonna overprepare them and give them stacks and stacks of wool so I never have to get jump scared by a warden again. Edit: I now have almost 10 double chests full of wool and the farm is no longer is use. 😆
wool!! also this is really useful for raiding ancient cities because you need lots of wool to cover sculk shriekers. Great work!! Ill definitely use it!
I tried it and at first it didn't work, or so i thought because it was all in the hopper, and i re did it and this time i made sure that i put the hopper while clicking on the chest upwards and it worked i'm so glad
i made one of these, then another four, total of 10x6 sheeps and 3x each color and some white, i made a collecting system using a row of water on the side, from left to middle and right to middle until it collects in the aproximate middle of it, into a hopper, chest, hopper, chest and you can add multiple chests if needed, it works great
I decided to do some engineering and found out it can't be in the same box so you have to give each sheep a separate box What I did is that you get glass and you make a box using it but the next box will be diagonal to it,then make as many as you want Then you obviously have the grass block under where each sheep will but there will be a observer facing the block and a redstone behind it. Above the redstone will be dispenser with shears facing the sheep So as soon as the sheep eats the grass, the observer will notice a change and activate the dispenser Now for the collection system make a railway underneath the farm and at the turn put a hopper under the end rail that turns to the farm and connect it to a double chest Tips: Make sure that the sheep are diagonal to each other to make sure that it doesn't interfere in anyway and also cove the top with a slab Redstone powered rails twice at least depending on the size of the farm will really help(the one I made was twelve sheep and I get like 100+ per hour) Also make a entrance system and make it however you want I hope this was helpful guys🙂
Decided to build half of this (6 sheep instead of 12) on java 1.21.1 can confirm the redstone and the collection works great (brilliant to force the wool to appear further up into the water with the glass. Never would've thought of it) Definitely seems like the dispenser only hits 4 sheep though. Still awesome, but I just wouldn't bother with the 2 far corners.
I'm not that good when it comes to build farms so I have a question. Do you have to fill up the dispensers with shears or does it theoretically work with only 2 shears?
Can i destroy the dirt after pushing it with piston to double check the sheep count? Will it affect the farm? And can i replace the leaves on the first floor with glass?
you said we have to get them in a specific orientation but you never mentioned how, i have 6 sheep in there but when i push the glass in they just glitch out of it, 1 or 2 of em
Grass just needs light level 9 to spread to nearby dirt. The more grass that meet this condition, the better the chance grass spreads. I slightly tweaked this to have 4 pens of 4 instead of 2 pens of 6. First, this lets you have 1 of each color sheep. Second, I noticed that the corner sheep sometimes didn't get sheered as they had to have perfect positioning. You can't remove the grass above the glass or else the sheep can just jump out. The glass is pushed it them, which won't sufficate them, but it only traps them if they have no blocks to move into, which includes jumping up a block. I also bulit mine underground so I just attached a clock to have it go off more consistently, but you don't have to. If you don't, the dispensers only trigger whenever the redstone grassblock updates.
@@Thespacelord45 That's not true. I have bases completely underground - no sky. Grass grows just fine. All that's required is a single source block (grass block) for it to spread and make the existing or placed dirt into grass. Light is still required, but this can be achieved via torches, etc.
For anybody who can't get all of the sheep to shear, the layout of the trapdoors is critical! You must follow it exactly or the sheep layout won't be right!
The daylight detector is the equivalent to a solar panel - Whilst it's daytime, the redstone remains on - When it turns nighttime, the redstone switches off, updating the redstone with the dispenser - Same thing happens when it turns daytime (This is an assumption, not confirmed)
@@eddie_castorin1235 I think I need to change my pc settings. I have to press the fn key to use the F keys and that may be the reason why it doesn't work for me?

Hahaha
For me they were able to jump out only if I broke the dirt above the glass after pistoning

You could put a simple etho clock to activate it periodically, if the sheep can't be sheared the dispenser fails and the shears lose no durability.
@@colmhauser9532 I could try a daylight sensor on the traditional build. It’ll be easier than dying the wool each color.
