Just moved onto a 2.9 Cayman manual from an M140i which was stage 2. I don't miss the power at all so far and absolutely love the dynamics of the Cayman. Such a rewarding car

I’ve got a 2.7 base 6spd manual. Didn’t know it was rare. I’ve got PASM too.
Went from 17s to 18s for aesthetics (kept the 17s in store).
Mine’s sea blue interior and cruise too.
No sports chrono sadly.

Had the 987.2 basic and now the 987.2 S. The S has quite a bit more power and you def notice and appreciate it. More like my m135i albeit still not as much torque. Try one, you’ll see a big difference compared to the basic.

I do like a Cayman but the long ratios and lack of torque would become an issue on the road. Which is why you were going for 1st most of the time Reg.
I had this same thought and then drove one.. Bought it 2 days later, lol.. Granted mine is an 987.1 S, so more torque than the 2.7 in this gentleman's Cayman, but the throttle response is uncanny (throttle cables are used on the .1's)
@@dre32pittno the cayman is throttle by wire. They moved from the cable sometime around 2001
Coincidence seeing you and another Cayman UA-camr I watch upload around the same time. Thought I recognised Mark in which I've seen his videos on UA-cam about his Cayman. I am thinking of saving up for a gen 1 non S Cayman. Firstly though need to be sensible and save up for a house first

@@davidhaygarth648 believe me David, I have enough savings for a Cayman. Saw a nice black one with the turbo style alloys which really tempted me. Hopefully next year I'll be able to start saving up for one. The house is more for investment than living so shouldn't hopefully lose money after buying and letting it

Don’t think the box in the 987.1 does though. It’s a common complaint (moan). Rev match/DDC it.
Although I thought sport synchro mode had auto Rev match or is that just on tip?
