So little editing or annoying sound effects, yet the result was a perfect little video essay. Thank you for posting.
I have not jumped for many yrs, when I did it was from a perfectly good air-transport of sort - you guys have my greatest respect for jumping off a perfect Mountain - I do not fear the elevations - but the side of the mountain and gusty winds, that's a different story - BRAVO!!
I would love to try a wingsuit. Then again, my palms sweat up and I get that dizzying falling feeling in my stomach even when The Road Runner lures Wile E. Coyote over the edge of a cliff. So perhaps not.
Just a quick question from someone who's only experience of base jumping is jumping of the side of a building as a kid, with a bed sheet made into a parachute! Is there a reason that you didn't extend the fly time to land in either Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald?
He did not. He had a tracking suit. Basically a wingsuit without the wings. Still inflates and gives you better glide than nothing, and a little safer since you have full range of motion with your arms.
Of all the _epic_ exits for base jumping in the world (of which there are MANY) this one has got to be one of the best! Thank you for sharing. Stay safe-ish out there and blue skies my man!!
Love that movie. And Cliffhanger w Stalone is awesome. The Mountain was the first movie I'd seen about Mountaineering and I watch and read as much as I can. The Mountain is a pretty Old Movie but it's very Good !
I’ve been a lot of places and wondered how they even got certain things in places the first time. A great UA-cam for this is Action Adventure Twins, sometimes deep in those caves they come across things and it’s like how’d that even get there the first time?

@@SMacCuUladh Maybe GPS tags would be more humane. Those bells would drive them nuts... The shepherds could also use drones to locate and herd them in. It's 2024 ya know 🤣
I truly appreciate the fact that the last to jumpers weren't trying to cheat death by skimming as close as possible to the rocks. That improves their odds greatly.
Firstly I'd like to say y'all are Insane!!.. scared to cross that little cable yet ya jump off a mountain!! Good Gawd that's some beautiful scenery.. all wind and Cow bells! Nice.
Scaring that cow ruined someone's dinner, the bells are to stop them moving too much😅😅😅😅 Fantastic, especially the wire to get to the rock. I wish this was about when i was young. Happy jumping.
I didn't really pay attention to the title, when you turned around after the landing i realized it was the Eiger ! The first to take the jump went straight ahead (and down ofc), you went to the left... so you didn't tell him you parked the car in the valley on the left ? Mean !! Up there, the grinding sound of the carabiner on the cable was... something.
I wonder who got across to that rock to put the bolt in before the cable was there! "That's scary" Says a guy climbing across a wire cable to an insane rock he's about to launch off.
besides these guys I would just like to give a round of applause for the guys who attached the cable from the mountain to the jump site. How did they do that?
5:27 I see you didn't buy the 'opening-shock' option on your canopy, as yours doesn't seem to have one. Was surprised to see your legs swing into view without seeing anything to suggest you opened. Smooth!
Wow, spectacular -- seen other jumps from Eiger, but not one where you first have to rappel onto a crag -- admitting the fear of doing that shows these guys are human after all -- I think what affects people most about these videos is the willful defiance of the instinct for self-preservation that every human being has -- mind over matter
I have been getting mt knees in breeze since 1978 hundreds of jumps and done some crazy stuff but...I don't think I want to base jump nope never done it. Watching these videos make me nervous and gives me the willies. Ballon jumps, inverted biplane exit, C-130, many coppers but going 120 mph 10 feet from a rock does nothing for me.
I'm severely afraid of heights. Sometimes I watch these anyway, and I get quite nauseous and it triggers a panic attack. I still turn up occasionally. Not sure why... maybe just to watch cos I know I'll never get anywhere near the real thing. Had to fast forward a few bits of this. Usually I'm better by the time you are halfway down, and quite over it all by the time the chute opens. Not much nausea today, and only a few tears....
Will somebody explain - with the first jumper in blue and black, he's wearing a parachute pack I guess, but are his pants and jacket some form of wingsuit or what ? They don't look like it and I watched his descent until he disappeared and couldn't see him deploy any wings...meanwhile, his jacket and pants don't seem enough to make a wingsuit. Will somebody say what's going on there ? - Thanks.
It’s called a tracking suit. Basically a wingsuit without the wings so they get much much less glide ratio than a wingsuit but they are much safer to use since you have full range of motion for your arms in flight and during parachute deployment
@@basethekidThank you for rounding out that information. I'd want more lift though - if headed straight for that grey rock at about 100 mph, this baggy wind breaker like suit just isn't reassuring. @@OnDottedLine I don’t think his video is available but if you search “eiger mushroom track” you should see several POVs of people in tracksuits. I agree I’d rather have the glide, but it also takes more training and money to use a wingsuit.

The guy who jumped first didn't appear to have much of a wing suit but damn he hauled ass. How was he able to stay aloft with so little fabric?
