Looking at the 4G Anysecu W6. How has the build quality of this device stood up to the test of time ? Has the small 3.5 screen (same size on W6) been a hindrance in practice ?
Nice chunky tough looking android/UHF combo. 3G only is disappointing but not a major tragedy for the UK and Zello which doesn't really need 4G anyway. I have a Ulefone Armor 3T rugged smartphone which has android/UHF capability and is a lot better built and has digital and analogue UHF built in but it costs about three times as much so for a budget option the W5 looks like a good choice. Great review as always Lewis.
I own one of these, and use it as my daily driver. For a 3G device it runs well, no issues using internet Zello works well of course. And the UHF works great. It does benefit from an upgraded antenna. I have replaced the stock antenna with a Nagoya NA701 and can pick up all of my local repeaters from home. For an upgraded version of this device check out the Sure 8S which is 4G and features a DMR radio. Of course you pay a premium price for it (about twice the price of the W5). I love this device, I wish it was 4G and I wish it ran a newer android OS. But that is an issue with most NR's. As PTT devices become more common I expect we will see more cutting edge devices with ewer hardware and software.
If you had two or more of these, is it possible to have comms back and forth with privacy? Ie. A dedicated line or similar? Please excuse my ignorance, help is much appreciated …
Old post, but this is real world use. No one wants to get out of their car everytime they want to use a radio, of course we all know being outside the car will improve it alot, but if it works inside that is more a real work use scenario.
How Amateur radio has changed over the years, I've been off then on for a but then off considering I was working so much overseas, however, I knew once cells phones took off that amateur radio would suffer. But in saying that it's good to see a kind of revival and with respect to this device I'm amazed at what can be achieved with technology. It's a clever device I must say and I have no idea what Zello is at all, so I'm inspired to find out. Terrific review and video.nicely edited and compiled, thank you. Mike, Nottingham, G8POL
Just got mine in Australia, its just ok, very glitchy, UHF will not recieve if the radio is charging, get constant log in welcome tones. The single PTT is not that easy to fix
Sorry for the late comment but I'm after one of these or something similar with the hybrid design where can I find it or do you know anyone selling the same or similar would need asap due to work
i would guess its an SA868 and the application simply sends AT commands. not sure how the audio routed though, I'll guess audio is not reaching the software in any way. any ideas if I'm right? anyone?
Great video Lewis..Want a zello device but want a 4g version. I'm always on PMR and this would have been perfect..Keep bringing these Great videos out .
Nice products the network radios but the wife won’t allow me to go out and buy my self one such a shame but use Zello on my Iphone If you have any recommendations for one up to £50 let me know please
Does anyone know what type of antenna connector this radio has ? SMA Male or Female, or some other type ? Any other Network and True UHF radios like this one that are out there ? Thanks in advance !
HT750/1250/1550 type but the actual pinout may be different. Seems a waste though using such a connector only for a speaker mic.. You cannot program them via that port.
Can someone help! Im looking for a pair of walkie talkies or radios for me and my son to communicate with, he is 6 years old and i dont think a phone is a good idea. I want a radio where only me and him will able to speak and not get other ppls channels
In the US you can get FRS radios or GMRS radios (You need a license for GMRS but one license umbrellas you and you family members) in the UK I believe it's PMR 446..
These are neat radios, I have 4 of them weI use during the state fair here on their commercial repeater system and with Tracfone service. For those about to harp about FCC rules .. Move around, I dont care about the FCC bloated red tape and hot air blown by disgruntled entitled old farts either on certifications, it's all nonsense.
@@вечная_мерзлота The people who get caught interfering with others like public services are licensed ham operators. The records on the FCC site speak for itself.
Just need the radio side to be Dual Band Analog/DMR, the Android version to be something slightly better than 6 - and getting regular updates for as long as possible, and it to be 4G compatible, and I might consider one! And if any Chinese manufacturers are watching - Double DIN Android 4G capable car head unit, with FM, DAB/DB+ AND Dual Band 2/70 Analog/DMR radio with a plug in fist mic or remote wired mic with a bluetooth PTT button we can attach to the steering wheel - that'd sell like hot cakes!
@@Jah_Rastafari_ORIG There are a few out there ranging from $200 up to $2000 and higher but the expensive ones seem to be geared towards agencies and businesses where cheaper towards hobbyists and family comms users.
Depends on where you are and where you want to use it. In the USA you can use it on FRS which is allowed 2 watts now but you might get some comments soon going on about type acceptance. Those people are just boot licking "YES MASTER" guys. In the EU and UK IDK maybe PMR446..
I looked at this one some time ago, but I'm afraid the phone is to outdated and weak now. Better off with mediocre smartphone and bayofeng type set with an aftermarket higher gain antenna.
Weak processor, old Android and even that is to demanding. 2w is nothing. And 3g? Git outa here yeah it works but so does my cheaper, older, less powerful and slower network radio.
If it was 4G I would be ordering one today, great review thanks Lewis.

When using the UHF radio, can you enter tones with keypad?? For example to access an AllStar node?
Hopefully the W6 will be out very soon with 4g and VHF and UHF.

Where can I buy this in uk
But can it run Doom?

Can you do a review on the Anysecu W6pro please?
Thank you
Do you need a wifi connection to use the PTT UHF function?
How far can you work with 2 sets without a repeater?
Does it have also a VHF mode or similar units?
To assess the effective capabilities of the kit you review, establish comms OUTSIDE your vehicle for improved range and signal strength.

can It be used globally, with no distance or country limits?
tiny antenna and low wattage means very short range, probably half a mile at best in UHF.
I use 1 watt from my DP4801 on UHF and get 22 miles as long as there is nothing in the way UHF will travel a long distance to the horizon.
do you need a license for these frequencies? or is it license free to transmit and receive.

on a side note, if audio is in fact routed via software, can be nice if we can use it for Zello to UHF bridge
Can we buy any audio adapter to close the side audio? Any ptt suit the set?

The modern equivalent of a CB handheld
Looks like prices dropping now this has been out a while - does it still hold up as one of the better hybrid (VHF/Zello) radios under £200?

Is this no delay ip radio because i buy ip radio it has a delay all the time
On the radio test how far are from the repeaters.

What is the model number of the 4g version.

If you have any recommendations for one up to £50 let me know please
Can it be set up with vhf on the ptt and zello etc on a bluetooth speeker mike
Can this phone be updated from android 6.0 to 9.0?
What is the price ? you have to know that the price is important to viewers of the channel.
In US I paid about $135 with drop in charger
I paid $123 ea for the 4 I have for use on jobsites a few months ago, They hold up well if you take care of them of course.
How do people who are not familiar with this get a call sign ?
Does it work in teamspeak as well?
can i use it as a voice recorder? can vi use button to record for whatsapp?
How many kilometres working and need internet connection
Does anyone know what type of antenna connector this radio has ? SMA Male or Female, or some other type ? Any other Network and True UHF radios like this one that are out there ? Thanks in advance !
I forget now. I’ve since sold it sorry
Sadly, 3G network has being shut down here in USA
Is that side connector a Waris/HT1250 or APX/XPR type...?

Will it do PMR446 Frequencies ?
Yes it will

There's similar devices to this that DO have DMR; not in a position to look it up right now but I'm sure you know how...
