drumhead comparison - blue hydraulic vs ec2

Here i am comparing Evans EC2 drumheads with Evans blue hydraulic heads. Take notice that the ec 2's have been on for about a year or so which might have effect on the sound, not to mention the moon gels on the ec2s as well. No moon gels on hydraulics. I used my Iphone 8 plus for the recording, NO other microphones used.
Drum set is:
TAMA Silverstar sky blue sparkle with 10,12, and 16 drumheads.

Ec2s and hydraulics are both the best heads i have played but i use hydraulics for lower volume live rehersal and street performance. Ec2s are much fuller and have better feel.

Hydrolics on cheap drums or when you can not tune it precisely, EC2 on high end and well tuned

I have a hydraulic on my jazz snare and it sounds amazing. I’ve been looking forever for a video of someone comparing the hydraulics to the coated heads though. If anyone has seen one of those videos, please link me.
That chrome bass drum head is dope though! I just joined a new band and I needed to get a new from head. I think I’m gonna snag one!

I’m not a huge fan of the hydraulics, they kinda ruin the natural sound of the kit, personally I wouldn’t suggest putting them on an expensive kit. The ec2s in my opinion are far better

The hydraulics have more low end and controls the overtones IMO

Cary Davis The hydraulics definitely control the overtones and there is no deep for anymore excessive dampening by using moon gels. So far i have only played one show with the hydraulics and i miss the attack and slight overtones of the EC2S, maybe i just need to warm up to the hydraulics but only time will tell. The sound guy did give me compliments on the toms with great tone.

I'm liking the sound of those blue Hydraulic heads!! Very punchy! In my opinion I'd put at least one Drumtac on each of the toms just to give it a bit more dampening, but either way they sound NICE!!👍🏼

Wow!
Both heads are too controlled and lifeless.
Just get regular double or single ply heads.
They’ll breath and sing much better
