Thank you for all you put into helping the rest of us during these times of price increases, shortages and food insecurities. Your videos do make a difference.
Aldi has really saved me a lot on groceries - especially this week.
I think meal planning is a the best plan to not waste food.
I just went through my food pantry and noticed alot of canned goods with up coming expiration dates in the next 2 months...those were pulled to the front and are on up coming meal plans.
Smart!
I do grocery pickup and I’ve started splitting it between my local grocery store and Walmart. I just pull up two browser tabs and compare prices as I go. Doesn’t take much longer and its definitely saving me a lot of money!
Been struggling to stay on budget lately! Grocery shopping used to be my favorite thing to do and now I stress out about going to the store. It’s not that we can’t afford groceries I just don’t want to spend $200 for my family of three 😅 its so hard to keep a handle on it lately. Thanks for making these videos to help inspire us ❤️ I appreciate you so much!
Just found your channel and subscribed. I'm a senior living alone and my budget for food (includes cleaning products and paper products) is $50 a week so your channel is a great help. Thank you!
I just threw together fresh sliced zucchini & fresh, cut baby carrots in a pan with butter, sautéed until the zucchini turned translucent and started to brown, added some bouillon broth to boil in for several minutes, then topped with parmesan. I was brave because of you and it was delicious!! 💕 Thank you for the confidence!
your videos have really helped me as a recent college grad figuring out how to live within my small budget- your energy is so reassuring and realistic and I really appreciate it! thanks!
Thanks for the kind words, Alex! Glad I could be helpful! 😊
I live in Chelsea! I was raised in Broken Arrow ! So glad to find a channel that is local ( pretty much ) to me !!! Makes it easier when I have the same stores !! Thank you . God bless .
Mindy- i feel obligated to tell you that you have fantastic fashion sense. In every video recently I find at least one shirt that I also own. Today it’s the Time and Tru coral top 👍🏻
One caveat I would add, is to watch dairy products for carrageenan. So many of the cheaper brands still use it. Wow - your local grocery store really had some great deals!!! Nice video - thank you!!!
Here in Germany Aldi 's generic Brands are often Name Brands in a different packaging. It is worth it to Do a blind Taste Test with those family members who want the branded items....
I use to work for Conagra Foods. I can tell you, unless it is a recipe like Campbell soups or Oreo cookies. Most of your can veg, fruits, etc. all come from the same source and they just put different labels on the cans.
I only shop for one, occasionally I will pick up a few things for my son. But my biggest problem with my grocery shopping is, I can't stay away from UA-cam videos, cooking or shopping hauls. I have enough groceries in my kitchen that I don't really need to buy anything for a couple of weeks. But, as soon as I watch UA-cam, my walmart pick up cart starts getting full.
This dairy-sensitive girl loves her sherbet and Silk! :) also love Aldi :) a trick that my husband and I started for meal planning is to have a shared list in our phones of our favorite meals. We check off the ones we've eaten recently and we star the meals that we have the ingredients in the house for.
Great tip!
Mmmm now I'm hungry for rainbow sherbet
Buying housebrands certainly saves me a bundle! Here in Australia- Coles and woolworths have a monopoly on the supermarket network. They both have their own house brands (Coles brand and woolies brand). There are a number of smaller grocers with other house brands, the most common being homebrand or black&gold.
I find items like flour, sugar, canned veg etc are very easy to replace with housebrand product. This is especially important in Australia to note, as we pay goods and services tax on our groceries.
I absolutely love this video. Coming from the perspective of a young single guy who lives alone... There was so much valuable and helpful information that will help me on a daily basis. Thank you so much for the content! (:
Have you managed to figure out what affects prices? ie) I live in Alberta which is a landlocked farming province, so wheat, canola, pork, poultry, and beef are just examples of what we grow. Knowing this I assumed beef would maybe go up a little and seafood a lot. The opposite was true!
Supply and demand is global. Beef is typically fed grains. When grain prices soar, so do meat prices. 🤷♀️
I think it would be helpful if you did a meal plan going to $General. They have an app where you check coupons and on Saturday they offer $5 off a $25 purchase. Quite a savings and the stores are everywhere. Thanks for all your hard work. I came for ww but stayed.
Love these tips! I've recently started adding in a few easy meal items to my grocery list, in case things get crazy and I'm tempted to get delivery instead.
I will take all the tips I can get! Thanks so much Mindy. Thanks Jennifer 🤩
We have multiple food allergies and dietary needs in my household, so generic/house brands don't work for us most of the time. We are a nut free, corn free, gluten free (Celiac Disease), minimal soy free, lactose free home. I am finding that more and more house brands/generic brands are no longer madd in nut free, gluten free facilities.
Cheese is the only house brand we can get. 2 of us can have cheese and do so minimally.
The big way I save is to stock up on safe items when on sale. So when King Arthur GF items are on sale, I stock up.
I also save vegetable scraps to make stock.
And when organic chicken or Jennie-O ground turkey is on sale, I stock up and use my Food Saver.
Store brand ground turkey isn't GF and we have to be mindful of what chickens are fed due to Celiac Disease.
I have also learned how to make my own GF pasta. Corn free, gluten free versions are quite expensive.
i make a list of what i have. write everything down what is in freezer and pantry. how many cans of what and pounds of meat and so on. than whenever something gets taken out i cross each one off and add on the list if i go shopping again. help me stay organize know what exactly what i have
Mindy: "Don't Shop unless its on the list of whats needed"
Also Mindy: Grabs Saltines... " Theres not an immediate need for them, but Im gonna get em anyway" 😂 😂
So many good tips you give though, im happy to see your videos, keep it goin!❤
I love watching your videos! I was wondering if others who watch these include paper and soap items in their grocery budget? I do! Mindy, I enjoy seeing what dishes you come up with in your pantry challenges!
I just found you. We live in Pryor. So cool when I found you.
THANK YOU for this wonderful 411.
Thank you for this video. We recently had to lower our food budget. This is very helpful. I have been trying to cook from my pantry alot recently. I had some extra groceries stored. I am currently trying to meal plan and prep better. So far its going pretty well on cutting the food budget. These videos of yours are extremely useful and I have taken alot of tips from you. Thank you for your hard work. God bless you and your family.
Could you do a budget meal plan that’s dairy free please? Love lots of your ideas but some are hard to make substitutions for a no dairy version. Would love a whole video dedicated to that!
Thank you Mindy for all your help on meal planning. Great information
Glad I can be helpful! 😊
2 is a great idea.
Great video, We are a big family from 10-4 ppl so I love watching yr videos. I use to just buy what ever but now I need to budget.. looking forward to seeing what you have next
Yesss Queen!! I am a rare commenter but loyal subscriber and I love the new intro. It really hits home. Awesome work. Thank you for the energy you put out in the world!
I just found your channel literally last night & I’m so grateful! I love saving money! & your tips are going to help so much! Sending love from Texas! ❤️
I found your channel during the pandemic and throughly enjoy your videos! Thanks for all of the tips and tricks to save money and for making it so easy and relatable! You are a gem.
Thanks for the great tips!
Thanks for another helpful video!
Thanks Mindy, always great tips!
We eat most all our meals at home, and our grocery costs are crazy high. I try to stick to ground beef and chicken for meats. I used to stretch meals with rice, potatoes and pasta but now there are diabetics here so that’s out. I love to hear any saving tips.
This is my problem also. I had to put my husband on a low carb diet.
Just found your channel and it’s amazing. Can’t stop watching your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for all these ideas
Thank you!! Love your channel! 🥰
Great tips.
Thank you for the tips totally awesome and very helpful. Thank you so very much for the meal planning.
I find that with some no name brands there is no difference at all, though with others, the cheaper brand is not as good. On occasion, the no name version will even be better! For me, there is no obvious rule. I need to experiment.
Thank you for the video!
Aldi in Memphis, 10 lb. chicken leg qrts. $4.99. I trimmed meaty back off to put in freezer for chicken and dumplings or chicken and rice. 3 meals from leg qrts. 5 meals for 3 adults for $4.99. 1/2 price spiral cut bone in 1/2 ham. 5 meals $13.83. That's 10 dinners for $18.82 for the meat. Yippee! 1 lb. ground turkey $2.29. 1 lb. Smoked Sausage $2.79.
The neighborhood Walmart has a better Great Value cereal selection ❤
I love your channel, Mindy. Great ideas for saving money and stretching ingredients! Thank you!
Another great video. During times like these we are facing, any way we can save money is always helpful.
Fabulous 👏🏻👏🏻
That's a Pretty 😍 blouse you have on! Thanks for the money saving tips!!
LOVE FETCH! GREAT VIDEO
Saltines have been kinda scarce around here too (Alabama).. I did grab a box last week because I like to do the seasoned crackers for snacks and such.. hubs will only eat zesta brand, so I just don’t tell him when I get the store brand.. I season them and bag them while he’s at work 😅
I know. I ordered my monthly box of crackers online as usual. The mail carrier delivered it to the wrong address. So I do not get my crackers and I will not get a refund. Since then I have been searching the stores for my crackers. Since March 2020, it has been one thing after another that you cannot buy at the stores. Right now it happens to be crackers.
You can also just save the box and slide the cheaper cracker sleeves into the box😊
@@kevinanddeb8829 I have done that too 😅
Such good reminders❤️❤️🌟🌟🤗
Thanks, Danielle!
I appreciate you so much ,thank you for all you do, love love this video, thanks again and God bless you 👍😁💛👍
My Aldi has saltines for $.79 a box here in MA.
Your so sweet! Thank you
Thank you for sharing video support ❤️👍
I love Harry's "Stone" fragrance. It's addicting. All three of my boys use it. Keeps the basement smelling awesome 👌.
Doing most of my cooking at home, having a zero waste policy and never take my husband grocery shopping when he is hungry (aks Hangry LOL) We have freezers and a deep pantry so I have been mostly shopping from my pantry/kitchen and using up things. Because of this I only shop loss leaders/sales and am only buying dairy and fresh vegs/fruits. On most items I do generic brands unless name brands sales makes it a better price. In my area clearance items seem to be in shorter supply since price increases. I would imagine demand is up. I hardly ever find any discounted meats in our stores. I also have no problem eating foods that have "expired" especially canned goods. You always do a great video.
Aldi is my go to store. Some items are half price of Kroger’s here in Kentucky.
We are very like minded 🎉
I love this type of videos. I learn so much from your channel!! Keep on. Keeping on.
Thanks! I appreciate the encouragement!
Thank you! I am also in the Tulsa area and have recently given up on Reasor's due to their prices but I had no idea about the online coupons! Thanks for the helpful video!
Thank You. I am trying to meal plan with recipes using the dehydrated and freeze dried food that I bought on sale over the last 3 years. So I am searching for ideas on the internet.
Good sound advice. I had a career in Grocery Store management. Good job Mindy.
God bless all here.
Thank you mindy for this video it helped me so much today since we have ice but the good news is we have an aldis just down the street you have really help me try bank y it sad I much
Oh wow you're in Tulsa! My small platoon of a family is in Muskogee. Hope it doesn't sound stupid for just now realizing that, this is only the third time I have had a chance to watch one of your videos. I usually barely have time to keep up with Ms.Christine from Frugal Fit Mom. Good tips, great video.👍✌️
You are my new favorite! ❤
I just started watching your videos and I have gotten a few new ideas that I want to try. Its funny that you mentioned Tulsa because I live within an hour of there and you don't see many youtubers around this area.
I much prefer to cook at home. Most of the time I prefer my cooking to almost any restaurant. I'm NOT a gourmet cook, but I do LOVE to cook.
Great tips, and I love sherbert, especially the lime😁
I think I like the orange the best, but they sometimes have pineapple in the summer and it’s good, too!
Ooh raspberry is super good too!
We love sherbet
Jen sent me. I just do what she tells me to 😂 hi! 🙋♀️
Yes to orange sherbet! And we also say Sherbert here in Ontario, Canada.
Funny 😄
I have to meal plan and do grocery pickup or I come home as the proud owner of aisle 13 and not really even have anything. I’ve been watching your pantry playlist for the past few days so this month is a no shop grocery month for me. ❤️
Jessica, I hope you discover some really great meals from your pantry challenge! I usually find at least one really good recipe we enjoy when I challenge myself to do this. 😊
cool
Great video!!!!
We only go to Wendy's or In & Out Burger drive thru. Oregano's for take out of a special family dinner. Only three places we trust for gluten free selections. We pretty much eat most of our meals at home.
Whattttttttt??????????(((($.99 Silk milk!!!!)))) Grab it!
Digital coupons are great! In store specials $1.00 off 5 or 10 items, I use to shop after 2-3 am after work. I would find great deals. I Check things out and read ingredients. I didn't have to worry about people running me over because they are in a hurry! The store is stocking at that time. They employees are always helpful. I use to have a cashier actually save me store coupons for stuff SHE would never consume. "Healthy Foods!" 😆😂
Visit the library for tons of cookbooks!
I’ve found as I’ve gotten older and become an empty nester I worry less about these things. I still usually make a meal plan in the way you’ve suggested but I’m a bit more brand loyal than I ever thought I’d be Daisy sour cream and cottage cheese are superior! 🤣
I did not know you lived in Tulsa! My family is 1.5 hours south in Mcalester!
My tip: look at the lowest and upper shelves for deals. The brands pay for eye level positioning.
Good Morning 😃
Q
Observations: food prices are in process of being raised by approximately 20% to 30%.
Most noticeable are Dollar Tree 🌳 stores raising prices from $1 to $1.25.
99 Cent Only Store raising prices from
$1 to the $1.19-$1.29.
Some items have doubled to trippled overnight going from $1 to $1.99. Like the
2 liter Pepsi. And $1 to $2.99 like dog 🐕 food.
Where did you get that meal planning note pad? That's cool. 😎
Amazon. I think it’s linked in my description.
Yeah, what is up with saltines!! Same thing here in North Carolina--they are scarce.
The Premium foods company workers are in a labor dispute and there is a shortage of people to work in thier factories I guess. Idk if it's resolved now 🤷♀️.
Nice video
Thanks!
Mindy…Hope you registered with Cheerios to get that S’well bowl !!!
Any good rebate apps for less processed food? I tried Ibatta but the stuff was often processed food we are avoiding.
I agree. Not often fruit or vegetables fresh
Yes I first check local flyers to see what on sale then plan meals around that first. I check for coupons and head off with a full stomach my list my mask and I turn off the ringer on my phone. Since my kids are all grown I’m alone to stay focused . It does help however even Aldo’s is getting so expensive. 189 dollars last week and it use to be 133 for same list . I suppose we will all adjust in time to this economy. Another tip is two meatless meals a week and make your own bread . It’s super simple no kneading or equipment needed. In spring barter with neighbors for eggs if they have chickens and everyone should start growing small Amy of veggies even if one tomato plant in a pot. Every little bit helps!
I do think gardening is coming back. My husband and the kids grow a few tomatoes, squash, peppers, and cucumbers in the summer.
These days in my state we have to go to 2 stores sometimes because there no product.Which makes it difficult when trying to save.
I have to visit multiple stores usually. But I’m fortunate they’re all very close, even next door. I know it can be a real pain.
T-Town, 😁 do you shop at sprouts?
Did you know that Reasor's sold to a company in Texas? Love your videos
I did not know that!
@@SeeMindyMom Reasor's originated in Tahlequah
PSA: always splurge for name brand Graham crackers. The generic ones are NOT worth it.
I don’t mind the generics at all. I buy Walmart or aldi brand graham crackers all the time. 🤷♀️
Neither are store brand Saltine crackers 😖. And apparently Premium foods workers have been going through a union dispute so there's always shortages at the store I go to 😪.
My kids only like Aldi graham crackers. Lol I think it's partly a matter of what you get used to.
👍
Home Bargains in the UK sell fake Oreos that are as good as if not better than the real thing, at a fraction of the price.
Some of my co works say its cheaper for them to eat out these days,SAY WHAT LOL....Me, im cooking at home & packing my lunchs.
Does that mean you buy generic milk or cheese for recipes and non-generic milk and cheese for consumption such as milk & cookies or crackers & cheese? I wasn’t sure what you meant. I always get a new tip or 2 from you & you have such a nice speaking voice & great videos!! 😎👏🏻♥️
No, I buy generic for almost anything, save for a handful of items I’m brand loyal on, which are usually specific to snacks or “non essentials” like soda or chips if I’m buying those things.
@@SeeMindyMom maybe you should do a video of blind taste test comparisons with your family. Doritos vs. generic or sprite vs. generic. Would be fun to see!
Got 30 pounds of tryson chicken legg quarters at aldi 55 cents a pound cost 16 .50 cheap cheap cheap southern California
Without a plan, i always get home and not even have i spent more money, but i actually dont even have everything i need to make real meals.
Several of our grocery stores don't even have sales anymore.
