Great video! Talk about pressured lake’s… I’m from Southern California and it’s the epitome of pressured out here! Small reservoir’s and poor management. I’ve fished creek arms in Tennessee as big as my local lakes! That said, I’ve been having good success throwing blade baits ( Damiki Vault’s ) over the past few years and figure why not mix it up and re introduce lipless cranks back into my arsenal! I’ve already picked up a couple Yo Zuri, Luckycraft LV 500’s, OG Rat L Traps, and a Rapala lipless cranks … definitely gonna grab a few Red Eye’s and get busy catching some pressured bass🎣🤙
I have tried so hard to catch fish with red eye shads since KVD did a video on them some 10 years ago and i've had no success. Thank you for this.. gives me new reason to try them out.
I have such bad luck with the red eye. Dont know what it is but I hang the red eye shad everytime and loose them everytime I buy them lol. I need a lure retriever.
The thing that makes the Redeye different is the way it falls. It doesn't roll over. You can actually fish it more or less vertically like a spoon over deep water fish.
Damn todd it's so crazy how where you live the leaves on the trees are still green, here in bythe trees are bare and its 32 degrees, I gotta get out of NY, I cant fish for 3 to 4 months Im Going nuts
I've learned that I really need to change those stock Red Eye hooks out, they're pretty bad. Pretty solid bait overall! Hopping bottom/yo-yo has caught me some good ones too, 2-tap version.
I knew about all this and the redeye in the back of my mind, but kind of forgotten..Thanks for bringing it back into my frontal cortex! It is designed differently on purpose!👌
I'm surprised that you kept throwing the trap in those slick calm blue bird conditions but they bit! I've noticed that usually if you're doing that, in those conditions, when you do get bit, they're usually better fish.
Yes been transitioning all year it takes me awhile to figure out what rods I like and what to throw. This is literally how I do it that way I can give good recommendations and I’m ready for tournaments. I don’t want to be a guy who just says hey throw this rod, I want to have total faith in it
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 I’m sure you hate to leave falcon they make some amazing rods but I totally get it just makes since. Love the content keep it coming.
Couple of things, product was not one of them but my relationship with strike king and what they plan on for the future. Will have more opportunity to design rods and input on reels. Both are great sometimes it’s just an easier relationship

I love my lews rods, but my go to red eye rod is a 7'6 falcon HD medium and they're like $90. Have yet to find a better rod for lipless baits.

Good luck 👍
Great video Todd, can you do a video breaking down the types of grass in a lake and which grass is better than others?
That’s a good one yea I can do that
Lew's KVD Composite Casting 7' Red Eye Shad rod is my go-to for throwing Rat L Traps (sorry I've never had much luck with the Red Eye Shad).
Love the red eye, some great tips, love how you did this video, keep up the good work
Thank you
What’s up Todd. Now I’m an old school lover of the ole Red Eye. Great vid.
Thanks

In what, just curios I guess we just fish grass so the chances of losing one are slim to none

Definitely

It’s 80 degrees today it’s great
Todd I’m sure you’ll be doing a giveaway to get rid of those falcon rods😂
I've learned that I really need to change those stock Red Eye hooks out, they're pretty bad. Pretty solid bait overall!
Hopping bottom/yo-yo has caught me some good ones too, 2-tap version.
Yea I always change them out for some owners if I’m tournament fishing
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 what size do you go with?
Hey Todd are you gonna do a video or two on your top ten finish at the Toyota series tournament on Pickwick?
Not sure
You should man. That would make for an awesome video series!
Does it seem like there is a certain time, temp or water color that signals it time for Rayburn red color?
Definitely you can always catch them on red but prespawn is the best
It’s such a killer lure in October here especially the Natural Shad color. What hooks do you put on them?
Owner stx 45 zo wire. Number 4s or 2s depending on the size of the lure

Was trying to make a video you never know what might happen
Love it, what size line were you throwing those redeyes on ?
20# Sunline shooter
Lipless Crankbaits- # 1 lure to wind up past the barb in your thumb, if you're not careful!
So are you leaving falcon rods? I totally get it with the merge of strike king and Lews.

@@toddcastledinefishing5924big reason I love your channel brother, nothing but experience and honesty.
Can you link those 2 combos please?
When do you throw red?
It always works but the best times are definitely in the pre spawn. Clear water sometimes is really good
Be sure to keep all your notes so you can write a short book, Castledine's Rod Choice with This and That
Write? I’m gonna have to get somebody to write it for me.😅😅
Why the switch to lews
Couple of things, product was not one of them but my relationship with strike king and what they plan on for the future. Will have more opportunity to design rods and input on reels. Both are great sometimes it’s just an easier relationship
Hard to beat a bps crankinstick got 4 of the old black ones paid 29 bucks for lol
What happened to your pickwick juice?
Heck I havnt even done the first videos
