Egg and soldiers is a uniquely British breakfast consisting of a soft boiled egg with toast cut into strips (soldiers) for dipping into the runny yolk. Lovely stuff.
To all of you who complain about Connor not getting the jokes - don't you realise this is the way to learn? There's so much British slang in these and many people around the world don't understand it. Watching it with someone actually asking questions helps many get the jokes who otherwise wouldn't. Kerp up the good work and open mind Connor!
A todger is one of many British slang words for a penis, so popping one between, "two floury baps" (i.e. bread rolls) would make it look, to the Spaniel, as if it were a hotdog. Your other questions I think have already been answered. Keep up the reactions please, Connor, and ignore the ruder people below the line in the comments. I, for one, enjoy them and I am not alone.
I don't think prewatching should be taboo. If someone prewatches and uses the opportunity to create some well informed and considered commentry on the original video surely that's a good thing? But I suppose it starts to blur the line between reaction video and video essay.
Do you know that the first american to win the Victoria Cross was from Maine and was named William Seeley? He joined the Royal Navy when he became stranded in Hong Kong. He participated in the siege of Shimonoseki in 1864 when he obtained the highest british honour for valor in battle and rescuing his officer. Eventually he retaired in USA again after being discharged from the Royal Navy.
Krauts comes from Sauerkraut (pickled cabbage). It's pre WW2. Kraut literally means 'cabbage'. 'Soldiers' with an egg are strips of toast that are usually dipped into the egg yolk.
Rolling Rs: I had to go through this as I was living in France and trying to lose my English accent while speaking French! Start with saying "huh" before trying to make the rolled R sound, like "huh-ruh!". It helps you kind of bounce onto the sound better and it gets easier over time.
Hi Conner did you notice HUGH LAURIE the actor in the hospital scene with a sling he usually plays an American in the series HOUSE 🤣and Rowen Atkinson (Mr Bean ) as the Captain very clever aren’t they they played theses characters for many year giving us many laughs thank you for showing it 👍🤷♀️
Boche [bos] i derisive term allies called germans. Originated from french...caboche (head or cabbage) even then we were good at insulting our enemies 😂
Boiled egg for breakfast. Place the egg upright in an egg cup. Slice off the top of the egg with a knife, exposing the golden yolk. Served with buttered toast cut into strips, known as "soldiers". Pick up a soldier and dip into yolk, before consuming. 🙂
I always had buttered bread (not toasted) my husband was horrified when he found out I didn't toast my soldiers and said "they're not soldiers they're cadets because they haven't learned how to stand to attention"
Having a patient with a thick german accent in a British field hospital wouldn't be that unusual, in WWI Britain and Germany had agreed via a convention on the rules of war (i believe it was the Hague convention) that both sides should care for and treat the other sides wounded, this is why hospital ships had a very striking livery of all white and covered in red crosses and attacking a hospital ship was an unforgivable crime.
Many of the top stars of comedy and straight acting too, including Stephen Fry, went to Cambridge University (as did I) and were members of the acting and comedy society there called, ‘Footlights’. Obviously, there’s a massive rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge so for those in the know the joke about Hull being a great University (which is very far from the truth) and Oxford being a complete dump (which is 100% true) is very funny. 😎👍
ROLLING ''Rs'' tip for Connor Don't smile with spit in the back of your throat, but instead the mouth shape is almost a kiss, the tong vibrates behind your teeth....Rrrrrrr. Try saying (Rolling Rock) over and over....
Some british people do tend yo talk quite fast, that is probably why it is sometimes difficult to understand, especially with so many different british accents.🇬🇧😊
Be aware that Connor manoeuvres his cmaera around his vast bulk for some reason so expect a black screen for several minutes. I think he was rolling his arss...
It's funny. You're doing a glotal grrrrrrrrr when it's an rrrrrrrrrrrr with the tongue at the front of the mouth just behind the teeth. Not like a tiger or a cat 😂
☺Here is part 2 guys!

Bread and butter cut into strips , never had toast as soldiers
Handy tip!! Put salt and pepper on your soldiers rather than your egg so you won’t to have to top it after every dunk.❤

Breakfast always starts with a T = Tea....a cup of tea, then make the breakfast as it usually takes longer than cooking the eggs, sausages, bacon etc.

Blackadder has many great actors and actresses.🇬🇧
The nurse is gorgeous and Queen Elizabeth I from the 2nd series
Stephen Fry is an English national treasure
To people who don't know much.

I agree!
In World War One the Germans were nicknamed "Huns" (based on something the Kaiser once said).
Or: the Hun.
Almost every sentence has to be explained to Connor. I don't think he knows what's going on. 😂
Even has to have subtitles when he can clearly speak bloody English...🤦♂
Americans don't really understand English.
Not sure, but I think Kraut for German probably goes back earlier than WWII. It's from sauerkraut, German pickled cabbage.
Indeed it does, can’t help but point out to him that German isn’t a race as well 😂
@@markhepworth Who says UA-cam isn't educational!

Keep them coming
Also, keep asking questions as you can't be the only one that doesn't know the answer

They don't do soft-boiled eggs in America much due to salmonella

Todger, as in the one thing Prince Harry has got frost bite on once according to his book and media reports.
ROLLING ''Rs'' tip for Connor

Boche and The Hun were the common British slang for the German forces in WWI. Jerry and Kraut were more WWII.
@McJibbin you roll you Rs with a throat. That's not right. You should roll them with the front part of your mouth with the tongue.
Some british people do tend yo talk quite fast, that is probably why it is sometimes difficult to understand, especially with so many different british accents.🇬🇧😊
My dad lives in Walton on the naze 😂😂
He's tall too lol
I think kraut is German for cabbage. The British army call them that. They laugh at them because they eat a lot of cabbage.
😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤best of British!!
Connor, when you roll your r's, you do it with the tip of your tongue, not in the back😊
dont say anything just watch the bloody video. there's a good chap.
Deloused means getting rid of hair lice or parasites 👍👍
4:06 i noticed
Connor, you have watched so many clips of these that claiming to have great intuition skills is a little silly 🤣

Krauts from Sauerkraut

Stuart Little
You should check Rowan out in Thin Blue Line - good watch
man you do not get it👎
ADHD? Azerbaijan Digital High Definition?
kraut = cabbage
Is it me or is this series wasted on Americans
As much as I love you, the pausing can be incredibly annoying.
I always just assumed Krauts was a shortened version of Sauerkraut. Could be wrong though
