We have a 3yrs old Nigerian dwarf doe that we got about 2 months ago, and she has had this cough, she will cough when she runs to fast when we try to lead her and when she is eating. We have taking her temperature and it was normal and we have given her ivormectine but it has done nothing she also has a runny nose.
Do you ever experience your goat coughing or sneezing and it's paired with a small fart? My Alpine/Boar mix does it nearly every morning; it cracks me up!
Love your you tube channel and your connection to your goats. I am hoping to be able to order the goat binder soon. Thank you for all you do!!!!! God Bless

My goat does that hacking cough like she bringing up some cud… she does it a lot tho… I chalk it up to the blackberry stems she eats, she goes after the thorniest woodiest vines she can find… shoot I cough just watching her munch that stuff… the huge thorns go right through my blue jeans, and she’s eating them…
I have 2 NDG pregnant. First one had a cough for about 3 weeks. But was eating and drinking fine. Then she woke up to what looked like pink eye in one eye. A week after that looked like pink eye in both eyes and she was loosing her vision. After treatment for pink eye, she started the poop of string beads. Which ment toximia. I had to act quick and she is good. Now the 2nd goat is coughing. I know your not a vet but I'm wondering if this cough is the beginning of toximia? Have you heard of such a thing?
I have some goats and they start off with a cough then they get distance from the herd and then they develop diarrhea what do you think's causing this and it only happened when I bought some new goats and introduced to the herd
Thank you for the great video! I have three young ladies, and one of them seems to cough while eating. She seems totally fine otherwise, and eats like a pig! I really think that she's just eating too fast and kind of choking a bit and having to cough because of that. She doesn't seem to cough when she isn't eating. That being said, we do live in a wet region. She's been inside, but the humidity is very high. Do you think I should be worrying about lungworm?
If you are really concerned, I would take the goat to your vet and talk with them about it. Without knowing your area, it's hard to know if it's a prevalent problem in your area and your vet should have insight into that.
I have a male Nigerian Dwarf that I notice has a cough. Today I notice he was chasing another goat playing, and he was whizzing the entire time he was running. I noticed him coughing a couple weeks ago, but it wasn’t nothing too bad. I have owned him for a month, and during that time he hasn’t been in any damp areas. Mostly in and out of our barn. Any idea what it could be?
I have the same issue, But I have two does. One has coughed randomly since the day we got her. She usually chews but does cough after heavy exertion at times. Otherwise completely normal everything.
Is it too late to ask for help my baby goat coughs he coughs more when he is drinking he’s milk I have other baby goats and don’t cough when drinking their milk so I’m lost i don’t know if he is sick because he is fine plays but it’s just a cough he has when drinking can i get help ? Thank you
My baby goat is coughing continuously. Since she is newly bought she cried a lot. She also ate a lot of grass. What can be the remedy ma'am? And why is it happening ?
Lots of good information distinguishing the difference in healthy behaviors as opposed to not so good symptoms. We make sure to have the things on hand that can quickly clear up illness like vitamin C. We prevent most health issues with regular doses of copper sulphate on feed with about the same amount of cal, phos, mag mix. The maintenance rate we use is half a teaspoon of each per goat per week. We add a dosed feed if needed. The reference is from Pat Colebys book Natural Goat Care. Our go to for many years.
My goat has kind of a hacking cough, he does it probably a dozen or so times a day and it lasts for about twenty seconds each time, he’s been doing it for about 12 months now but has never displayed any other symptoms of illness like a temperature or not eating and he is fine in himself and playing. What should I do about his cough? Does this sound like lungworm?
Hello :) Some cough because of dusty hay or even allergies or a dry, dusty year. If you could have your vet to fecals and check for worms and do a through check of the goat, that might be best so you can get an opinion from someone seeing the goat 😊
Delci, I think 3 of my goats may have lungworms. I bought your goat binder and in the anemia CP it says give 1% Ivermectin orally in addition to other nutritional supplements (but to purchase the injectable version). Would you still give orally if you think the anemia may be a result of lungworms?
Have you ever had a female alpine or any other goat loose hair? Do you have any suggestions to help. We are going from winter to very early spring here. They are not bald but are loosing a lot of hair. Otherwise they seem fine. I thought at first it might be stress because we had a male in with them for a few months. 1 of the 2 females seems pregnant the other is showing no signs, but both are shedding loosing hair
It could just be that they are losing their winter hair. My smaller goats, pygmies and fainting goat, all lose their hair in bigger tuffs and it looks more dramatic than the other goats. Sometimes nutritional deficiencies can cause unnatural hair loss and bald spots or flaky skin. So be sure they have good quality hay and loose minerals always available to them 😊
I do not have a thermometer yet but am getting one ASAP, but noticed that my sweet Louise has a wierd ho nk similar to a goose honk?? Shes never made this sound before. She also has dry skin I've noticed . Any clue on what it could be??
It's so hard to know what going on nutritionally with a goat. Goat nutrition is very complicated! It's really important to be feeding your goats really high quality hay that will give them the minerals they need. They also need to have lose minerals out at all times as well. Making sure that they have a high quality diet will help them to maintain healthy skin and hair coats. There could also be issues with lice or something like that. You can see moving creatures if they do have that problem. That's great you are getting a thermometer! So important! And as far as the cough, it's hard to say! Dry hay and dusty hay can cause coughs. They also can have allergies. And sometimes it is because they are sick. Taking their temperature will be an important part of knowing if they are sick.
That's hard to say! When I've pulled on my goats collar and they didn't want to go and were resisting...and they've almost fainted, fallen to their knees. But I've never had one puke.
Goats do get colds here and there just like a human does. It's hard to say. They need to have the nutritional support to be able to get healthy and stay healthy.
Get tested of your brain first, you didn't know that animal those eat grass cannot catches Corona 😁😁😁 If you don't know about Corona then stop talking half way, that show you are halfway brain man 🤣🤣

Could it be that he’s getting a big letdown of milk that he can’t quite handle, So he coughs a bit? It’s a good sign that he is playing!
How many days in a row can you give Benadryl to your goats?
My baby goat is coughing continuously. Since she is newly bought she cried a lot. She also ate a lot of grass. What can be the remedy ma'am? And why is it happening ?

Give it now and probably again in the early fall.
Do lungworms show up in a fecal test?
