These old talk shows are so chill, they probably serve as therapy to _many_ people of all ages and with all sorts of problems; especially these days.
Yes you hit it head on, ive basically watched these my whole life even as a kid (my grandpa & uncle had tons of vhs recordings) so it just brings me back to simpler times.,..
And what is your choice of therapy?
In my land we often use Pinoqachole- it distilled from the fruit of the Upanishad tree each fall, when the over-ripe rotting fruit drops to the ground, and we must fight the angry drunken water-buffaloes so we can collect it to make our sacred Pinoqachole- a nectar fit for the Gods!
I suppose YOU pay a Psycho The rapist for his services.
Ican see: You are still not well!
Right on
I wasn't born yet, so they're extra special.
I LOVE what Bowie said about loving somebody and being in love. He's such a good-looking, intelligent, nice, charming man. I can never get bored of David Bowie.
Then you should have a look at the video game he participated in back in 1999
called Omikron. Let me know how you LOVE LOVE that one.
"He's beautiful to watch" ...well said!
Yep
Yes to this! He was so mesmerizing!
Pro trick : you can watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Nikolai Emmett Yea, I've been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :)
He could really move
Never seen beauty and intelligence merged in a person such a brilliant way.
Carlos Alomar + George Murray + Dennis Davis = rhythm section of the century...
Amen!
Favorite Band Ever
Love david and Henry and Dinah love 💘❤💕
Love it so much I could watch it over and over again 😍❤💕
and Stayce Heydon (spelling correct?) is such a great guitar player. i really love those isolar recordings.
I skipped school to watch this when it originally aired! A great day! So glad it’s here!
His dancing... I love it
so do i.
I love him still -
@@warangel4389 he was such a good guy. We all loved him.
I like how genuine this conversation is. Very different from today's television.
The irony that both of these beautiful people David Bowie and Natalie Cole would pass away within two weeks from each other Natalie Cole would pass away December 31 2015 and David Bowie would pass away January 10th 2016 two beautiful souls
What a beautiful way how you summed it up!🤗🌠🌠
We lost two greats for sure. Remember that sad stretch
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams.
How many comment sections are you going to paste that same old quote into?

@@spaceengineer1452 But that's not a prime number!
The 70s were glorious
Verita 👍
What Bowie says from 21:05 onwards is one of his greatest reflections.
Why can't TV still be this sincere?
his voice is crazy bro
Beautiful Bowie❤❤❤
Say what you want about the 1970s but seeing Bowie on daytime TV is as close to a “golden age” as it gets for me
David was and still is the greatest allround artist that ever lived, so many styles ,so many characters, such special music and his acting and mime was spectacular.
One of the most beautiful creatures ever to walk the Earth
Can we just appreciate how much the bassist is killing it here?
George Murray, one of the greatest.
Damn it. I really miss David Bowie.
One of my favorite periods in Bowie's amazing career. He looked great and the funk and thin white duke vibe suits him. Great band, legendary musicians
He had a great voice, he made amazing songs, he made great movies performaces, a trull artist and god he was so beautiful. My eternal crush.
I was so put off by David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust days, that I missed out on what an incredible artist and person he was. Only now discovering and catching up. Gone too soon 😢
Daytime TV is something else that was miles better in the 70's than it is today.
He is the greatest Singer the 70' s produced
Have to add Freddie Mercury to that list as well.
And Michael Jackson
did the most with the least
Add Sting to that list too. And if we must talk truly talented singers you can't possibly leave out Luther Vandross, a singer who backed Bowie during the Young Americans era.
Kids - sorry, none of those you mention are "great singers" - great "performers", yes - great "singers", no. Barbra Streisand, Karen Carpenter, Tim Buckley, Garnet Mimms, Maria Callas are streets ahead of Freddie, David, Jackson and Sting in vocal ability.
Too bad we did not get to see that clip from “The Man Who Fell to Earth”. It’s such a great film!
David Bowie is so intelligent. Just love and miss him.
When the fonz is not the coolest in the house you know the dude who outfonzed him must be cool as fuck
'Stay' was always on of my favourites on that album.
The chorus melody is absolutely incredible and the groove is electric.
it looks like he's living in 2020 already while others in 1976
oh believe me, as someone who was a kid in 1976, Bowie didn't look or act like anyone else on the planet then lol
@@SandraWade666 That's because David Bowie was out of this world.
but who would be groovin' like that in 2020 or 2021? its been shite
It's ridiculous how good David Bowie was. Few others are fortunate enough to be blessed with the gifts that he possessed.
His voice is so gorgeous.
Gotta love 70's talk shows. DInah Shore on a plush sofa chatting with David Bowie, Henry Winkler and....Nancy Walker!
I know right!.?
Bowie always tried to do the best that it could, with us mere mortals
The coolness of the Fonz is nothing compared to the coolness of Bowie
And he lost points for calling David "Dave" not cool.
Henry Winkler was and is a class act and the Fonze is iconic. That said, you are %100 correct.
@@michaelbarnhart2593 Not exactly.. David Jones was a real person, David Bowie was a character of many faces. I shall be forever infatuated with him. His light continues to emit.
@@themaggattack My previous comment deleted. I am so tired of people.
I don't know...The Fonz is untouchable.
I wasn't born yet, but I'm always watching shows from the 1970s and before.. Music, movies, stand-up comedy, literature, language, interviews, etc..
I love he whips out a cigarette and starts smoking--something you wouldn't see nowadays.
I have loved this man all of my life.
This is such a wonderful snapshot in time. I greatly admire all of these people and it's very humanising to see them interact and sort of compete for attention in a really relatable way.
I'm listening to this and looking at his picture on my refrigerator. Breaks my heart. Love the boy.
I get you Diane..he was the best❤
I keep feeling that there must have been a time when David Bowie looked into a three-way mirror and saw how many David Bowies there could be.
He's only just begun.
Nice shout out by Bowie for Bryan Ferry!
It’s cool how he talked up even his rivals and treated them like friends
@@xdproductions3087He and ferry were casual friends they admired each other
Bowie was a very thoughtful man. He did everything to stay humble & not let fame ruin himself as a curious human being seeking a simply fulfilling human life. Im glad he later truly found a love in his 2nd wife, Iman, that he could liken to being in love. I think around this time he was really starting to develop a thing for "sistas" lol. He also dated Slash's(from Guns n Roses) mom. Most dont know that Slash is half black. His personal life is just as interesting as his acts but w/o the flashiness.
he banged slash's mom lol bro tnx for this
I came here cause I have been reflecting on Bowie and also his wife, Iman. And remembered this interview! Too funny! Slashes Mom huh?! Always learning more about him! You can add Tina Turner,Ava Cherry,Catherine Denuve,Geeling Ng (China Girl video) I could go on! And on! And on!!! He got around the world thats for sure!! Then someone arranged Iman and David to meet. And his definition of love became more tangible for him! Even said they became the most solid relationships amongst the 'famous people'. Cause it was real! Beautiful daughter. Just before he died she said "Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory". That to me really resonates volumes of what its all about! Rest in peace David! ✌🌠
“That he could liken to being in love.” David and Iman were husband and wife, soulmates, and have a daughter, Lexi Jones. Iman still considers herself married to David, four years after his passing. It would be good if you could eradicate the “interesting “ and the “into sistas” eyebrow wiggle out of your narrative. It’s 2020. Respect.
@@manxuberglider8 Who are you to demand he "eradicate" certain parts of his comment. He can say what he wants. You don't have to read if it's not to your taste.
Iman herself has said they would have never gotten together had they met earlier in life. It’s okay for a person to have lived before, no need to apologize.
Love Funk Bowie. And that was a surprisingly elaborate performance, even by today's standards -- with the exception of those Chyrons.
Great live performance and moves. His leg moves remind me of Northern Soul dancing.
Nice of him to pay tribute to Roxy Music. on "Stay" he was actually singing Ferry's descending "ohhhh"s from "The Thrill Of It All."
The live song segment is priceless. DB - a hero for me and countless others...
Amazing!!! Thanks so much for posting!?? What a FOX!!!
Impressive performance. And like a gent he accompanied her to the seat. Classy.
He dances like Elvis used to! Those legs!
Thank you so much for this!
the way david laughs at 28:06 ❤️ its a little strange nancy and candy traded places at the end of the show. i think candy had the hots for david
Wow! Bowie, the Fonz and the Bounty paper towel lady. The 70's were great!
Tee hee
He a piece of work .. the humility shines through .. a fine pewter ..
Oh, Lord, David's high but holding it together pretty damn well. Either Dinah's totally oblivious to David's state, or she's just the consumate pro. Great upload, nonetheless.
Bowie was in a dark place in '76. Fantasizing about Nazism, demonic entities and possession, spending most days away from light. Miraculous he made it thru just to be with Iggy in Berlin later that year.
Seems like Winkler and Bowie could have had a pretty good conversation in a more casual setting.
As Henry says in Barry ‘getting clean of coke is an important part of an actor’s journey’
Thanks for uploading this!! He had such a huge effect on so many of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s. Miss him so much. RIP.
Wow, what a find. I was trying to find a Dinah! episode that a late friend of mine was on, but instead came across a surreal moment of the Fonz and '70s Bowie complimenting each other.
Bowie and Candy Clark 😍💜✨🌌
Sitting in a tree k.i.s.s.i.n.g
Yup! They were pretty much f***ing during this time, and I think that’s really why Angie did not join him.. Notice how close Candy got to him while Natalie was around. 😁
No they weren't. Nic Roeg wanted them to but they didn't like each other and hated doing the sex scenes.
@@annwhite2346 whatever you say….
@@annwhite2346 but they dated
I saw this when it was on the air back in 1976 and saw him at Madison Square Garden on that tour. Those were great times.
Loved his reference to Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music as 'influencers'. And of course I couldn't agree more with the fact Roxy Music was so NEW in those mid to later 1970s. There was NOTHING around like Roxy Music then make no error. They never plagiarized any artist. They created such new music it could have been considered a whole new genre of music. But this vid is about David Bowie and he would eventually become a musical genius - that's how great he became.
I can tell that Henry Winkler and David."Fonzerelly" are being very reserved towards all here" also like his attitude and take on things...so glad this was available to UA-cam..TY.
great words on love by David ,damn it I missed this one in 1976
Coolest guy of the century
Bowie was quiet but he got all the attention lol
He's so precious 💗
This could be ten years later!! Talk about way ahead of his time!!!
Colin Wilson!!I I saw a show about the Kabbalah in Amsterdam and one of the PR posters was Bowie drawing the Tree of Life!
That's wild
This is nice to have Bowie and Winkler on together. Winkler is an intellect on Bowie's level which was rare for Bowie to come across.
And that same genuine, gentle spirit.
@@linden5165 Lol. I guess I'm the only person who doesn't buy that Bowie was a genuine gentle spirit. I think he was a magnificent faker.
Fonzi. - I think somebody jumped the shark
Dance, Starman, dance! You are the coolest! I love you so much it hurts ...broken 💔
Station to Station one of my favorite Bowie albums. Saw the tour as well.
Henry Winkler certainly made some great comments and of course David Bowie SO fascinating and wonderful. ❤❤
Great to hear about bowie and karate and Natalie cole looks gorgeous . Shame the song was cut out
Such a gentleman.
The band are from 1976 but Bowie definitely back from the future
At the 25 minute mark they light up their cigs and Henry ever the gentleman lights up his fellow guests
A pity the Natalie Cole song is cut out. She is glowing, here!
Interesting to watch the mixture of such diverse celebrities like this; it appeared very casual and not so scripted and forced; like listening to four friends over lunch.
Love this 😀❤😍
I wish there was more footage of David being manhandled by his karate instructor.
10:59 David looks confused
R.I.P. DAVID🙏
Bowie rock n ruled
Henry Winkler was still producing content millions of people watched(Barry), until just a few years ago, and sadly is one of the few people on this show who's even still alive. Dinah Shore is one of the most underrated in broadcast skill and to boot most adorable women to ever appear on legacy mass media. Do we even need to discuss how great Bowie is? Didn't think so. Chef's kiss to the uploader. You should have 20 factor more subs than you do.
Why don't they let Bowie talk? The others have nothing to say.
Agreed. Sorry, everyone else sounds so superficial.
The format for this talk show is very strange, but I guess that was normal for the 70s. It does seem a bit awkward for the guest since she seems to be talking to everyone except the person that the focus is on.
At the time, the other people were better known and more popular in the USA! Bowie was an exotic guest that Dinah was taking a chance having on. It's hard to believe now.
That's quite a collection of great guests; David Bowie, Henry Winkler, Natalie Cole, and Nancy Walker!
“There is a time for departure even when there's no certain place to go.”―Tennessee Williams
Sixteen Tons. Whaddaya get? Another day older...
__ - Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Amen
Just read in Johnny Marr’s autobiography “Set The Boy Free” that Ian Curtis got his dance moves from Bowie’s performance in this show, I kind of see it.
it is the side effects of the cocaine
I'm thinking that it must be love
It's too late
...the European Canon is here!
To be grateful
What a genius!
Excelente
I remember the Dinah Shore show from my earlier youth, lol unfortunately, she keeps pronouncing David Bowie’s last name like it is spelled with two o’s. Thanks for posting as it was a fun interview.
Winkler did one of my fav films about a love for a young woman called Heroes, that displays his equal brilliance to bowie & he reached me to my core & I see how my Pastor explained that one needs to learn how to adore one's wife...bowie expressed the contrapositive...Henry is able to make plain & not "...mystique a make...", to steal the Roches line in "Losing True"..."...I forget who I'm...Losin' you...". I miss Maggie, David & Henry's contributions to our human race...who cares our infirmities...bless all ya'll
Respect to David a "Cultural giant in his own right" emphasising the "Brilliance of another"!! Namely Bryan Ferry!!
We let tv dumb us right down. Imagine this was daytime tv? Wow. Deep deep stuff.
27:00 best part lmao
Too funny...love it when he moves to 'his groin'!!!😂🤣 The way he reacts and if you knew about Bowie...he was gifted in more than his talent and character!!!!!😛 Love it!
Lol idk 8:55 is pretty great 😅
High off those peppers and milk
I remember when everyone had an ashtray out somewhere in the house
Great musicacians in this video : Tony Kaye of Yes on Keyboards.
Bowie and Fonzie!!! Wow!
I used to serve fish to a man who knew David before he became David Bowie, Rod Harrod of South Wales UK, he met most if not all the famous rock stars, I hope he got threw COVID 19.
21:10 I wonder if he's talking about Hermione.
I wondered that to. His heart was broken. As well I think he's talking about Angie. In love with Hermione. Loving Angie but was tumultuous. In the future Iman came into his life and both fulfilled. 🙌 🕊⚘
