I think you were looking for a Chrysler Van instead of a hard-core, 500K+ mile capable 4x4 off-road vehicle. The Lexus GX470 isn't a vehicle to haul little kids in extreme comfort. It's basis is a Safari vehicle used in 3rd world countries to confidently move people from one place to the other. Toyota brought it to the US and added some luxury to it to make the sale price palatable.
Yeah maybe it was not communicated well the scenario I was trying to present was if you could not fully swint the door open as if you were in a parking lot with another vehicle behind you. I could have done better illustrating that. But its hard finding issues with such a great vehicle!
Have had our 08' for a year now. Lifelong Southern car so no rust. Your other points are valid, but for our family of 3, it rocks. Bought in FL in July of 2020, drove it home to GA with 103k miles, now it has 116k miles and has been perfect. We luckily got a cherry one. Best car we have ever owned.
We still love ours and have a top 5 things to love video as well. That 4.7 is super solid and the vehicle great overall in our other videos we are addressing the gripes and soon she will be perfect (for us)!
I also bought an 08 from an older gentleman in California. Zero rust and It had 73k miles and 33 Lexus maintenance records. I love this car! I agree with the head unit, cup holder and lack of space up front. Thank you for the video!
@@dangomez2394 Thanks for the comment Dan!! Good new is most of those things can be addressed. Its an solid drivetrain and interior issues can get ironed out and they still look modern beyond their years. Rust repair is a pain yeah, but worth it...
Wow thats 5 minutes ill never get back. That is silly stuff. Should have thought about that when buying one and looked for rust and more cup holders🤣 these things are amazing and awesome off road rigs. Do you even use 4wd??
There is a 5 things I love video as well so check that out if you would like to hear some positives. These are great vehicles and we are do love ours. Sorry you did not find the video satisfactory we look to improve each time. The fact that cup holders design (not number) have to make the list is a testament to just how few gripes there are. Check out some other videos if you want to see the evolution of the GX. P.S. Any 5 minutes you watch UA-cam you never get back... that is how time works. But comments and impressions help the Chanel grow, so thank you. I hope that it can continue to grow and evolve into something better and something that you enjoy.
Hey thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. This was not set up to be a review but rather a "things I hate video" . It speaks to how great these vehicles are that you HAVE to go as far as to comment on cupholders to find issues. Check out the 5 things I love video if you want to hear the pros as well!
I suppose lousy millage is the price paid for such a reliable v8. Selectable 2wd and 4wd transfer case could have helped a little but peace of mind you get from full time awd is nice too! 😁
I’m currently in the market, here in Georgia rust hasn’t been crazy on the ones I’ve looked at. Brought up some great points I didn’t think about. And great idea with the cd printed cup holder.
Thanks so much! We are loving it despite it's flaws! (Will be a video on what we love about it in the future) We were lucky to find one that the dash had been replaced. So be on the lookout for that as well! You should be able to look the vin up on the Lexus website
Better off finding one that doesn’t have gps. Then your climate controls are not on a touch screen and the head unit can be replaced easily with aftermarket
That back door will stay open if you push that arm at the bottom. It locks the door open. What I hate is that stupid start up screen. Why the hell is that necessary every freaking time you crank it up? No retractable side mirrors sucks too. A car that expensive show gave power retractable side mirrors. I hate the Amber daytime running lights. Thank goodness there’s a clear compatible bulb. But the thing I hate the most is the cracked dash. For some reason the person who owned it before me didn’t get it repaired under the recall. That bites.
It's a folding table for a jeep JL with some modifications. ua-cam.com/video/ngFe_sQxeR4/v-deo.html Check out our video if you are interested in the install 😀
kind of weird how they were trying to market this vehicle like a luxurious offroading land cruiser think that is the reason why the discontinued it. alot of people are buying to mod it to overland or offroad.
Because soccer moms were more likely to buy it rather than younger, outdoorsy people looking for an upgraded 4Runner. Those folks are swooping in now and scooping them up and modifying them. That’s what I’m doing with mine. There’s a tremendous aftermarket supply chain for them.
I hate how my 1964 mustang doesn't have any cupholders, no airbags, no antilock brakes, no USB ports, no wireless charging, no fuel injection. And most importantly I hate the fact that my 1964 Ford mustang is not a Tesla. Seriously, your GX is old. Why are you griping about these silly things that were typical for the era in which it was built. When you buy a car, you don't inspect it? Thanks for the click bait.
If you want to try and print your own here is a link: www.thingiverse.com/thing:4864701 It was ony tested on our 05 GX. While it should fit others, it is a friction fit, so may require a little bit of tweaking. Let me know what you think!
I BOUGHT BRAND NEW 2007 LEXUES GX 470, TOADY JANUARY5 2022 ,TOTTAL MILES 48000.[ NOT 148 THOUSAND] ON IT ,I KEPT MY CAR IN GARRAGE SINCE I BOUGHT, IT'S TOTTALY RUST UNDER NEETH AND ALL 4 WHEEL ARE BUBBLLED SINCE 2012, I OR MY KIDS OR MY FAMIELY MEMBERS WON'NT NEVER BUY LEXUES ANY MORE.
The Tacomas got a recall and the frames were replaced due to rust issues. I wish this was offered to GX owners. It is going to be plenty of work but we are determined to repair and preserve what we can on ours because its such a good vehicle otherwise!
Yes the interior is basic but your not paying for interior. Your paying for performance, reliability, and off road. The engine itself can go over a million miles. Over engineered.
Nice watching a GX 470 video that doesn’t repeat 90% of the information I’ve heard before… Best luck with a scary rust. I will definitely have my purchase inspected.
Thank you ! We're still loving it a year+ in. We just wanted to put information out there for people to consider. Definitely first world problems, but it is a great vehicle, despite the "flaws"!! Enjoy!

Cup holder issues.....maybe a mini van is more your speed.
The only thing that i hate about mine is the gas mileage, but i'm keeping it forever!
Why don’t you try cutting off the cat and straight pipe it. Your car will loose some horsepower resulting better gas mileage.
@@CIRCLEDOWN10 lose power for cutting off the cats? Lol

This might be a silly question. Did you not look it over before you bought the Lexus?
We did and knew it had some rust issues, but for the price we decided to take on the repairs ourselves versus spending more on a clean one.
The cleanliness of your vehicle reflects on you.
.....it reflects never having seen it used as designed.

After many years having my 2004 Lexus gx470 , I don’t need to watch this video, because saying : (I hate )doesn’t match with this perfect car.
If cupholders and baby snack storages are the main points of buying an off-road SUV...buy a minivan...ridiculous review.
