This NEEDS to be seen by anyone shopping the GX. You gave insanely good info and year breakdowns. I love the Lexus website suggestion as well. Seriously great info. Thanks!
Awesome glad you liked it. I definitely have quite a few people asking questions so I figured I’d put it all in one place. Even if it only helps one person it’s worth it! GX for life❤️
For Head Units with NAV. Grom Audio makes an upgrade and Phoenix automotive make a Tesla style unit. Both keep the CAN bus AC controll functions. Or do a Non-nav conversion and whatever double din you want.
I’ve had my ‘08 GX for 7 years and still love it. Yea, it’s white and the paint needs to be redone, but it’s not that bad. Your car’s paint is pretty bad. I’ll agree with that. I kept my car in the hot FL & TX sun for 5 of those years. I’ve had to buy newer cds for the navigation, and it still needs to be replaced again. Back to the paint tho, what car doesn’t need a new paint job after 13 years?? My ‘08 has less than 150k miles, and with the amount of maintenance I put into it, I wouldn’t sell it. Great car!
Correct about not buying the NAV unit models from 2003-2008(?). The way the NAV unit and AC are together sucks. The old NAV unit was terrible. My radio completely failed so I put in a Android-based nav system/radio. It was $600 and a major pain to install. It was a miracle that it worked! It's a major improvement, but a system without nav and a double din would have been easier. The Androoid unit is like having a tablet in the car. I'm an audiophile and my audio system is epic. The direct music chain goes around the Android unit. IPhone to DAC, EQ Unit, AMP(under seat), 6X 2 way speakers & Sub. Get an audio shop to do it! It's a complex install.
I’ve just got a 1 owner 233k 05 white gx470, joined GXOR 2 days ago. Car had a carfax and created a Lexus acct showed every service done by Lexus. Owner declined some services but it’s such fucking gem 💎 of a resource. If every car manufacturer did this.
I have an 04 gx with 311,000 miles and she has been problem free for me for years. What a great vehicle. I manage to get 18 mpg, which isn't great but it seems a lot better than some of these people are claiming. (One guy in the comments claims 10 mpg and nothing but problems from his🤔) I love my gx
That's really good! Where and how do you drive your GX470? I get 18mpg (~13liters / 100km) with my 2006 3.5 Rav4 driven mainly in Hanoi city with moderate jams 😁
About the white paint, Lexus has a customer satisfaction campaign going on right now where they inspect your truck and if it has the chipping issue, they will repaint it for free. I got mine done about a month ago. I got a letter in the mail about a year before they actually did it and brought it to the Lexus dealer to make sure it was legit (it was). I'm not sure if you need the letter to get the paint job, you may be able to just show and get them to schedule it if it's chipping bad enough.
The GX, LX, and the Land Cruiser all have issues that can completely drain your bank account, especially if you buy one with rust, or a truck will poor maintenance records. I bought a 1996 Land Cruiser 80 series that was awesome off-road on CO trails, but driving to CA from CO was horrible, 10 mpg and no power to climb the many steep hills reminded my of traveling from CA to NY in my VW camper bus in 1971. My 2003 Land cruiser was much better, but had the same motor as your GX, needed more power driving the steep hills in CO, especially driving to Denver up 11,000 passes. My 2006 Land Cruiser was purchased with 263,000 miles with incredible maintenance and driven in FL. But...mileage DOES matter! The secondary air injection system failed after 1 year post purchase, then the catalytic converters failed. After $6K was spent to prevent the truck from going into limp mode. At this point, I am done with this genre of trucks, all though I love them, the maintenance costs are simply too high. Looking back, I should have kept my 2003 Cruiser, since I no longer drive long distance, my 2011 Tundra crew cab pickup works just fine. Great video, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your view to help fellow GX470 owners. I just got a 2009 GX 470 with 261k miles for $13k. Crazy! I are absolutely right. The coolant leak under the manifold has been a problem. I had to take the intake manifold out to fix it. I wonder if you still have it. I hope you are to do more videos on it.
I bought my 05 back in September of 2019 for $6500 and like you I was looking for a v8 4th Gen 4runner and never heard of the GX until I saw a video on UA-cam on them and fell in love , right then I knew I needed one. I have 178,000 on mine and have done a lot work and spent some money($1900 on a secondary air pump valve)on it to get it to where it is today. I absolutely love my GX and is probably the best vehicle I ever owned( been driving since 1990). There is so much more I want to do it before I retire and plan to overland it across the country! My local Toyota dealer that I bring it to to get work done on it keeps sending letters saying they would like to buy it off me because they are in such high demand. I get people come up to me in the parking lot and ask me about it all the time now. A lot more channels are popping up on UA-cam now on the GX which is great because when I got mine the only videos on the GX were mostly car dealers putting out videos on ones they were selling and got most of my how to videos from watching FJ Cruiser and 4th Gen 4runner videos on fixing undercarriage components. If I had to do it again I should of looked down south for a cleaner one without rust as I live in western NY.
That’s what I paid for mine in April of 17. Totally worth it, mine is pretty clean but I’ve also done a ton of maintenance just to make sure it’s good.

Great comment & good to know. I picked mine up in Orlando Florida just recently. It's the white one & surprisingly paint is in good shape. It will be build up to go along side my 4th gen v8 4Runner and 5th gen 4Runner Builds. And yes a lot of Information out there now with the GX.
I just fell into a helluva deal. 2008 470 with the navigation (I guess that’s a downside if I want an upgrade) $4k with 235k miles. I’m buying it from my boss who got it from his dad (who recently gave him the 2017). He said the exhausts is leaking and also the air suspension has a slow leak so I need to figure out what I’m gonna do. I get it Monday or Tuesday!
Well done my friend with a myriad of good suggestions. I awas considering a GX 1st gen. I have a 3rd gen 4 Runner which is a less fancy less powerful sibling. Iwas thinking about the GX as a step up from my V6 4R. After seeing the video I now would not get rid of it. The low mpg of the GX is an issue. My V6 has never gotten less than 20 mpg unless it was all city stop and go. Hwy at less than 70 is 23-24. I have done all the maintenance . no rust at 260K and no oil burning. Not an interference engine. Gxs with VVTI(2005 and up) are. I stole mine from an estate that didn't know or care about the value. Thank you.
Lots of good stuff here. Great advice. I have an '08 w/ Nav. It's nothing to write home about. I'm glad I have it for the backup camera. Bluetooth is limited to calls only and sound only comes from the driver's side door speakers. While the unit does have some physical HVAC controls in the dash like temp change, "Auto" climate, and defrost, the fine adjustment is still embedded in the touch screen, so if the screen breaks I assume you lose ability to fine tune the climate controls. That said, I have not had any problems with mine. FWIW, my black paint is all chipped up on the hood as well. I bought mine in 2017 with 49k on it. Currently at 75k.
You can buy the Bluetooth receiver and connect it to the tape player adapter to the 3.5mm audio, I have that and works amazing. The third seat head rest is just a vision impairment (just throw it in the trash LOL) . GX470 are hell of SUVs love mine
I have 3 4Runners the 99 v6 limited gets 16mpg around town. 2006 v6 18mpg around town. 2007 4Runner v8 9-11 mpg there is a problem though the gas paddle works best when it’s on the floor.
I just bought a really clean 2005 GX with 150k miles and a fantastic maintenance history. Everything works and it checks all the boxes....except, it has nav. I just couldn't find any non-nav examples in good shape. The only one I saw was completely rusted out.
Well congrats! Looking for something maintained wouldn’t steer me away from a nav unit. There are ways to get rid of it if it fails you can find on GXOR but as long as it works I’d rather have the nav.
@@DJwessling Luckily there are some aftermarket solutions. They aren't great, but hopefully they will continue to improve. Thanks for the great video, and you are right about GOXR on facebook....it rocks!
Just bought a 2016 GX460 without service records but the carfax showed some maintenance. This driver.lexus site had extremely detailed service records every 5k. This GX at 73k miles looks brand new and drives so quiet, now I know why. thanks for this!
About to buy a 2003 black with 200k on clock. Owned by an old lady so I doubt its ever been off road😂. Btw my taco has 190k and no issues. Its never been in the shop and my mpg is 16ish. My dad has had three full-size trucks that have cost him many thousands in maintenance since I bought my taco.
Thank you for a great overview. On your hood paint, just paint the hood matte black or even Rhino bed=liner it. Just a little prep and rattle cans. It would look great with your wheels and snorkel.
Absolutely! I tend to ramble on a bit. I’m doing my best to cut that out but the information was as accurate and concise as possible. I plan on addressing the paint issue soon. I’ll most likely sand it, prime it, then vinyl wrap it. There’s an Avery color that matches the paint almost identically.
I took a chance at Copart bought an 2003 Black at 166K miles at $4900 with all the fees included sight unseen call me a gambler or not lol it got hit on passenger side replacing two doors and pulling the rocker panel back found a guy already that gonna fix it so its gonna be a fun experience building her up, powertrain wise she’s solid with me owning so many Toyota/Lexus products many owners in general usually take care of these cars the big challenge for me is interior.
Just got mine. Love the video.. probably overpaid for mine.. well maintained 230k miles for 8k but had to put 1.5k for detail, timing belt and some small things
I’ve driven both and there’s definitely a difference when you put your foot in it but in terms of just putting around town or off-roading it really doesn’t show much difference. My point was mainly that if you were searching for one and found an immaculate example of an 03 for a decent price I wouldn’t run away from it just to get a VVT-I unit. I definitely prefer the vvti engine too though.
I'm getting a lexus 470 for GAS MILEAGE! COMPARED TO MY 2000 WJ JEEP CHEROKEE 4.0 ONLY HAD A 4 INCH LIFT AND 32 INCH TIRES. 10 MPG AROUND TOWN. GOT 16 HIGHWAY ONLY. AVERAGE OVERALL MPG 13.
Man it's been years. IF you are in the GXOR facebook group i'd start searching in there, search for my name- Daniel Wessling, or search for fuel pump or related posts.
I’m looking at an 05 tomorrow with spotty service history and 188k miles for 11,900. However the crank/cam/valve cover seals, timing belt/water pump and all associated maintenance items were done at Lexus at 167k miles. What would your opinion be? The body and interior are exceptionally clean and being a Texas vehicle has 0 rust. Excellent and thorough video, the Lexus owners website is invaluable, I’ve probably searched 100+ vehicles when I was looking for my LS.
I’d say that’s a pretty solid deal in today’s market. I’d be more inclined to get it closer to 11 because of anything that may come up, wheel hubs, brakes, any other questionable items.
You’re right. Technically it could be 0:100 if no slip is detected. I can’t find the literature now but I remember reading that unlocked the torsen diff will only send “up to” 30% forward if slip is detected. It’s variable depending on conditions by default. This was deep in some Lexus manual when I was working on all of my maintenance stuff a couple years ago.
I just watched your video and wanted to let you know you should contact the dealer about your paint issue. Toyota has a warranty campaign for white and white pearl vehicles exhibiting the paint issue you’re having and you may get it all covered for free.
Awesome video! Thank you so much. I just traded my 2003 SC430 for 2004 GX470 so quite a departure for me😅. Where did you get your dash cover? Looks really nice and I need one to cover the dashboards cracks. Thanks in advance!
Very informative. I recently picked up a 1 owner 04 w/o nav and solid frame. Really digging it except for the mpgs, holy crap it's horrendous, but totally worth it. Thanks for sharing 👍
@@klaybiggins4040 look at the bright side, suspension damage from pot holes and bad roads is one less thing to worry about. So technically you're saving money there (that's what I tell myself at least.)
What kind of a vehicle would you recommend for a man who is not rich who wanted a g x in a Toyota 4Runner but see the prices are so high what other vehicles would you recommend SUV 4 x 4 for the Long Haul but more economical but built very well?
Good question. After going down that path I ended up with a Nissan Frontier. I absolutely love it and I believe it’s way more capable than my gx was even built. Solid reliability and I paid half what a used Tacoma is going for these days. The SUV equivalent would be an Xterra which is also pretty cool.
All truth. Great bunch of info, I am using the lexus app as a shopping tool for a couple of months now looking for that diamond. In Blizzard white..lol yeah I know...I still just **have** to have that white. I'm in Ga. and it cuts the heat like you would not imagine. Looks like everything is a 10mm, that's cool. Thanks for this, great job and watch out for those killer baby huskys.
I have a 2005 w/o navigation and that thing is smooth as hell drives better on ice than my silverado with toyo mts get mine for 10k with 120kmiles and recent timing belt change at 113k currently 178k and worth at least 12k where I live
@@DJwessling yeah is kind of ugly but the gx570 on that year range is even more expensive was looking for a land cruiser also but price jump way to high when the stop producing
hey quick question cuz i love these 470s but ive looked at over 20 different gx470s from overpriced to owners lying about broken parts... even had one which couldnt lock the center diff and the owner snapped a cv axle trying to prove that it engages... but anyways im going to look at a 03 white gx470 with non nav so i could upgrade that head unit, and it has 127k for miles and they are asking 10 grand.... what would you say is a fair price for this vehicle.... the dash isnt cracked to bits which is super important to me, looks good but i need to make sure the water pump and belts have been replaced but i was thinking that this car since it has the less powerful motor in the 03 i was thinking 8grand cash is a fair offer..... i did want to ask you because you own and have driven one for a while so u kno all the little things that will go wrong with this rig... how much would you say an 03 gx with 125k miles is worth... again it doesnt have that info system that is tied into the climate control so that is a huge plus in my book but still an 03 for 10grand is just too much, i think 8k is fair but what do you think is a fair price to offer for this rig today when i go look at it? thanks soo much for any help and wisdom you can provide... god speed, -peter
127k 03 for 10k seems like an acceptable deal based on today’s market for them. BUT, I would feel way more comfortable at 8k. If it’s spotless and has had the belts done within 40k miles with receipts to verify I’d entertain 9ish. Hope that helps. 10k is way high in my opinion for an 03, but it does have “low” miles compared to some especially for the year.
If you can find them lol. I was looking at a 4 runner with not much luck and stumbled on the GX like DJ3W3 in the video, it looked and drove brand new, in pristine condition and cost less than the same year 4 runner! Didn't know how lucky I was to own one until a few years later.
Shit I found one with 90k. Definitely interested in a low mileage over a higher mileage one. As long as I get paper work of previous work then its all good.
I’ve had mine for over a month and this is what I’ve realized: My King Ranch was a 2007 with about 200k miles when I sold it. The sound system was still great (almost everyone with a GX seems to have to replace their mark levinson system). The transmission had no issues (I see a lot of transmission replacements with the GX). Nothing was breaking (everyday I see someone posting something breaking that is apparently a “common issue on a GX). These vehicles are not bulletproof as people have claimed. I expected to get poor mileage. I didn’t expect to get 10mpg. I only had to do basic maintenance on the F150. This one always needs something. It’s like a beautiful whiny baby or a wonderful gold digger.
I have to agree. Not sure what kind of mileage you have but with mine (297k) it’s nothing but tedious little annoying things. BUT, the drivetrain WILL last and continue to run. With that I’ve never heard of transmission problems that weren’t caused by operator error.
@@DJwessling getting everything restored on it. Thankfully, it was just the transmission mount. The first mechanic I took it to was either a ripoff or an idiot
I have an 08, and it still has the climate control built into the nav screen. Its a pain to work. I wish they had made a separate button/knob panel for the climate control. But overall, a small complaint i can live with.
Great video! I’m currently looking at a 2003 Lexus GX470 for sale for $8k. There are gaps in the maintenance history, it may need new water pump/timing belt, and needs new tires... Other than that it’s good condition and no rust. Is that worth it in your opinion, or should I keep waiting?
Unfortunately my perspective of the market is skewed because I bought before the inflation was ridiculous. To me that’s a $6-7000 unit depending on condition and mileage in general.
You absolutely can. Plenty of people in the GX group do regularly. Even heavier cars like e92s and sc300/400s. If you were looking to tow I’d definitely look for a lower mileage unit just for the sheer amount of stress you plan on putting it through. For mine at 295k miles I don’t intend on towing my cars with it, I’ll have to get a tow rig eventually. I’m sure mine could handle it, and I’ve towed over 4000lbs but I’d rather just save the abuse for something dedicated.
Oh alright perfect because I will Be towing a lancer evolution X just wanted to make sure I was also going to upgrade the trans cooler to a larger unit as well so I am hoping it will Help ... thanks man I really appreciate the advice
@@winettemotorsports96 especially keeping the factory air system in good working order would be a dream to tow with as it auto levels and rides really nice. Good luck on your search!

@@tex24 it’s inevitable. People are going to realize that these things aren’t worth it. Not just GXs but the entire used car market. It will happen. People will go broke again and prices will have to return to what they were for anyone to afford anything lol. Or maybe they’ll just skyrocket idk. Just my thoughts.
@@tex24 I think as time goes on they are going to increase in price as they bcome even more rare just like the older big Toyota Landcrusiers/Lexus trucks and that FJ model.
Mine? No it isn’t. It was for a while but I love it too much to let it go. Honestly you can find a good one for under 10k if you look hard enough. Usually local listings are your best friend for finding the gems.
If you're looking at a large SUVs and thinking about gas mileage you need a brain. The fact this is repeated on almost any GX, 4Runner, etc video is getting out of hand, but then again some people are truly ignorant.

You can buy the Bluetooth receiver and connect it to the tape player adapter to the 3.5mm audio, I have that and works amazing. The third seat head rest is just a vision impairment (just throw it in the trash LOL) . GX470 are hell of SUVs love mine
That paint issue is the same in similar years LC Prado 120. Toyota should’ve made a recall.
Yeah it would’ve been nice for them to do it years ago. At this point I think it’s not even worth their time.
Same with Highlanders, seems any car from Toyota after seeing this.
I have 3 4Runners the 99 v6 limited gets 16mpg around town. 2006 v6 18mpg around town. 2007 4Runner v8 9-11 mpg there is a problem though the gas paddle works best when it’s on the floor.
You know it just sounds so good when you put your foot in it 😂
I just bought a really clean 2005 GX with 150k miles and a fantastic maintenance history.
Glad I could help! Gxor is invaluable!
Same here but I just use my cell phone no problem but the just realize that it's better to have that back up camera!
I drive a Chevy 2500HD, gas mileage isn't an issue. Buy a GX 470 and enjoy your love!!
Just bought a 2016 GX460 without service records but the carfax showed some maintenance. This driver.lexus site had extremely detailed service records every 5k. This GX at 73k miles looks brand new and drives so quiet, now I know why. thanks for this!
Awesome! Cheers to hundreds of thousands more healthy miles!
Great video! GOing to look at an immaculate 05 gx470 this weekend.
Prices are going up up up. Good video thanks
At 8:15, don't forget to release your pet that is leashed to the bumper hitch.
Good idea
Just got mine. Love the video.. probably overpaid for mine.. well maintained 230k miles for 8k but had to put 1.5k for detail, timing belt and some small things
I’d call that a win in today’s market.
I agree with most of this. VVTI is where we differ, I have had both and much prefer VVTI and can definitely tell using the butt dyno.
Better than I get in the GX on 34s lmao.
Fantasic info in this video... can you provide a link to info about that fuel pump problem fix? Thanks!
I just bought a 2004 GX470 for 3k, it belonged to a teacher so the interior was gummy bear and chocolate bar dirty.. Still glad to own it..
Bought a 05 4th gen 4runner v6 in March 2020 and I'm about done with the build an the gx470 is in the top 3 for my next buy in 6 months
It would be a solid choice! The prices have gotten a little ridiculous but you can still find a deal.
The torsen differential (center) is not 30:70 under normal, good traction, though.
Wait…didn’t you say not to get nav?
Awesome video! Thank you so much. I just traded my 2003 SC430 for 2004 GX470 so quite a departure for me😅. Where did you get your dash cover? Looks really nice and I need one to cover the dashboards cracks. Thanks in advance!
I believe it was called dashmat.com or something ridiculously simple like that.
blizzard pearl has a paint problem. Bad primer at Toyota/lexus factory for this color. Paint flakes off constantly.
Yo what were decent GXs with around 150k miles going for last year? Trying to get an idea what the market is like now
i love this car so much
I can’t find a good one for under $15k where I live. Honestly I’m still considering it though…
SoCal?
Haha picked up GX470 to build up but I also have a Jetta that gets me 25-30mpg. 👍🏻.. awesome video & thank you for the info.
Just bought a 2007 gx470 with 299k miles for $3950 ….and the car was very well maintained
How is it holding up?
Great video bro. It gave a lot of context and a lot to think about. Despite everything, I still want one lol
I'm currently in the market.
This video is right on time.
Thank you brother.
A very good video, thank you. Good for existing owners too
Very informative. I recently picked up a 1 owner 04 w/o nav and solid frame. Really digging it except for the mpgs, holy crap it's horrendous, but totally worth it. Thanks for sharing 👍
I’ve test driven a used 06… nice ride. The 15-18 mpg is my only hesitation.
@@klaybiggins4040 my best to date was 17ish all hwy, mixed 15.5mpg at the moment. But I still love it!
@@autoavids … I should’ve never touched it with these gas prices.
Ive had dreams about this damn truck! 😂
Cut the mpg in half the moment you put a larger tire on it lol.
It's definitely horrible on Gas I get around 16mpg but 😍 love it tho
Same as four runner with more power
Thanks for watching. You’ll find your diamond in the rough!
I like white too being in Honolulu. I’ve been in dark cars and it is much hotter than a white car.
I have 2003 and 2006 GX470, 2003 non vvti gets 20mpg and 15mpg for vvti
We need a 6 year gx470 review sir !!!
I have a 2005 w/o navigation and that thing is smooth as hell drives better on ice than my silverado with toyo mts get mine for 10k with 120kmiles and recent timing belt change at 113k currently 178k and worth at least 12k where I live

hey quick question cuz i love these 470s but ive looked at over 20 different gx470s from overpriced to owners lying about broken parts... even had one which couldnt lock the center diff and the owner snapped a cv axle trying to prove that it engages...
but anyways im going to look at a 03 white gx470 with non nav so i could upgrade that head unit, and it has 127k for miles and they are asking 10 grand....
what would you say is a fair price for this vehicle.... the dash isnt cracked to bits which is super important to me, looks good but i need to make sure the water pump and belts have been replaced but i was thinking that this car since it has the less powerful motor in the 03 i was thinking 8grand cash is a fair offer.....
i did want to ask you because you own and have driven one for a while so u kno all the little things that will go wrong with this rig... how much would you say an 03 gx with 125k miles is worth... again it doesnt have that info system that is tied into the climate control so that is a huge plus in my book but still an 03 for 10grand is just too much, i think 8k is fair but what do you think is a fair price to offer for this rig today when i go look at it?
thanks soo much for any help and wisdom you can provide... god speed,
-peter
127k 03 for 10k seems like an acceptable deal based on today’s market for them. BUT, I would feel way more comfortable at 8k. If it’s spotless and has had the belts done within 40k miles with receipts to verify I’d entertain 9ish. Hope that helps. 10k is way high in my opinion for an 03, but it does have “low” miles compared to some especially for the year.
Great info man! Thanks for the upload.
Thanks for the advice! Good video and presentation. Can you put multiple VINs in Lexus’ site to see the records?
Yes you can
If you don’t care about the Lexus nice stuff should you just buy the V8 4Runner? Is the body bigger on the GX?
The body’s are about the same. Gx has a taller roof and more headroom that’s about it.
If you can find them lol. I was looking at a 4 runner with not much luck and stumbled on the GX like DJ3W3 in the video, it looked and drove brand new, in pristine condition and cost less than the same year 4 runner! Didn't know how lucky I was to own one until a few years later.
@@timesofyourlife1 thanks
Really appreciate this video!
Shit I found one with 90k. Definitely interested in a low mileage over a higher mileage one. As long as I get paper work of previous work then its all good.
I’ve had mine for over a month and this is what I’ve realized:
My King Ranch was a 2007 with about 200k miles when I sold it.
@@DJwessling I’m almost at 200k. How can an operator mess up a strong automatic transmission. All you do is drive.
@@snacking5908 overheat them and they become really really weak. Usually only takes once. Off roading or towing or simply being a moron can do it.

Just curious. How do you know it's a loaner car?
On my vehicle history it shows it as a dealer owned/ used vehicle for a period of time. It said Lexus loaner or something like that.
Tell me which V8 4WD suv that has decent gas mileage? So, that’s irrelevant. When it comes to gas mileage,
Very good video!!!
I have an 08, and it still has the climate control built into the nav screen. Its a pain to work. I wish they had made a separate button/knob panel for the climate control. But overall, a small complaint i can live with.
Yup they never removed it but from what I’ve gathered the 07+ nav is much more reliable in the long term. So hopefully it doesn’t give you any issues
Great advice
Great video! I’m currently looking at a 2003 Lexus GX470 for sale for $8k. There are gaps in the maintenance history, it may need new water pump/timing belt, and needs new tires... Other than that it’s good condition and no rust. Is that worth it in your opinion, or should I keep waiting?
Unfortunately my perspective of the market is skewed because I bought before the inflation was ridiculous. To me that’s a $6-7000 unit depending on condition and mileage in general.
@@DJwessling bottom was completely rusted out unfortunately. Looking like to find a decent one it’s gonna be around 10k :/
I am between a LX470 or an 80's series LC for an overlander...
Both great choices in their own respect. I’d still love an LX/100 to go along with the gx.
More hard off-road = 80, camping and driving around = gx.

Can I or should I tow a race car with a GX
You absolutely can. Plenty of people in the GX group do regularly. Even heavier cars like e92s and sc300/400s. If you were looking to tow I’d definitely look for a lower mileage unit just for the sheer amount of stress you plan on putting it through. For mine at 295k miles I don’t intend on towing my cars with it, I’ll have to get a tow rig eventually. I’m sure mine could handle it, and I’ve towed over 4000lbs but I’d rather just save the abuse for something dedicated.

Personally, NO. I'd wait for the market to cool off a bit, it's coming.
@@DJwessling What makes you believe it's coming? Increasing gas prices?
@@tex24 it’s inevitable. People are going to realize that these things aren’t worth it. Not just GXs but the entire used car market. It will happen.
