There we go!!!! I was doing the electrical but it got too hot and decided to cut window :)
The only thing I didn’t do my self was the electrical work. Did the Plumbing , hung up the vent and ss wall, hood and mounted the extractor almost done. Gonna knock out the suppression system as well. Can’t wait for it to be done. Seems like it’s taken a lot of more time then I expected

There is no link for window they are per order. It's a company called JR Aluminum in Ohio.

Hello, I'm trying to prepare to cut my trailer for my window. However, I'm a little confused. Do I measure from screw to screw on the outside or from the inside, and if it is from the inside, where do I start. I called j&r aluminum, and they advised me that the lip of the window was 1 1/2 all the way around. Do I have to take off 1 1/2 : on both sides and the top and bottom
Yes measurements to cut go from inside to inside. With 1.5 extra on all sides
Frank, is there a reason you didn't add sleeper studs and a new header at the top of the window space when you cut out the steel wall studs? Doesn't leaving the studs unsupported through the window area leave the roof less supported and prone to flexing? If I were doing this in a house I would frame around the window with a new header and sill with additional studs attached at either end. I would expect it would be just as important or more that the roof is supported, especially since we'll be driving these down the road & flexing all around.
No need. This way of putting the studs in between the steel studs works wonderfully. No issues at all and no leaks
@@fbaltierrez Thanks. I wasn't as concerned with leaking as with structural rigidity. It looks like you're relying on the 1x1 spacers screwed to the interior plywood wall to provide sidewall support. Since they're not resting and connected to the steel side ribs I wouldn't expect the load transfer from the roof to be as strong as if you used a true header and framing approach. I expect I'll do a steel tube frame welded to the ends of the cutoff ribs to provide vertical and horizontal load transfer to the trailer frame when I do mine.
I will be following your lead on some of the other parts of your build for flooring & electrical. I'll probably go with FRP panels for the walls though.

So just making sure, did you screw the windows into the 1x1s?
Into the metal trailer studs, 1x1 are just for added support, the rest all metal

Just one question. Should one silicone under the outside lip of the window and then screw the frame to the trailer. That would insure a complete seal. Just curious.
Could you have cut the stainless steel part from the inside out or it has to be from the outside in? Thank you

O issues and my truck has been on the road for about 2 years now
How much of a clearance would you advise on width my ro opening is 70 1/2 would 70 3/8 suffice? Don’t want to to twist and bind? Should I go with 70 1/4?
Either one works I haven't seen any issue with twist and bind being close to the measurement required

Awesome I stall video, does the window have a rubber gasket or did you use silicone where the lip meets the edge.? I saw you add the silicone after.
Yes window has a rubber gasket but I also wanted to add silicone for extra protection

Are the holes for the screws pre drilled?
No no pre drilled holes on the window
Does it matter what side to put the window?
Usually they are on the passenger side the curb side

Looks like I'm building the trailer myself because they quoted me over 5k for the window and over 1200 for the electrical plug and panel that's just robbery
