Finally got this video out. I took a couple takes on this, and I definitely did not expect the video to be this big. Hope this helps you guys better understand each setting to make accurate, educated decisions on which settings you want to use. Links to the videos mentioned are below, and thank you so much for watching, seriously :D

Thank you so much for watching my stuff!
Thank for explaining what the settings do specific for tarkov, very helpful! I'm not sure if I can speak for everyone, but at least according to various hardware surveys/ benchmarks, and it's def the case for me, a lot of people are cpu bound. It would be great to hear your thoughts on what settings, or min specs you'd recommend. User benchmark has some great info, but it's still hard to tell. I just know I need to update lol.
@@smizmar8 Lucky for you I have videos on both of those things! The CPU-Bound settings guide (though its last wipe rn) is linked in the desc., and my thoughts on PC builds can be found here! ua-cam.com/video/xIN1ekntcY8/v-deo.html
Feel free to ask any other questions in the discord or here and Im glad it helped :)
How much of a difference would you say in BSG fixes/optimization as compared to .13?
@@Jason32Bourne There was a TON of fixes, but I didn't note much difference in performance yet from last wipe on my system.
@@klemintime1452 Thank you.
Not only a great guide, but great breakdowns of how things work without talking in circles, and right after the wipe no less. Keep it up!
Thank you, will do! o7
Probably the best guide out for tarkov right now thank you
Thank *you* for watching them dude
No worries dude. I have a quick question what's the main difference between TAA HIGH vs regular TAA? like does the blurryness get reduced while moving with TAA HIGH?

Been watching you for a while. I don’t understand how you don’t have more subscribers. You don’t BS your audience into “get +150 FPS with this ONE TRICK”. You explain everything and you make sense of the complexities of the game’s design. Thanks.
That means a lot, man. Thank you. I'll keep on keeping on as long as I can o7
This video helped me a lot. I love how it's not a typical "this is the best setting, use this"-video but an actual guide with breakdowns of each individual setting to have a better understanding on how these work. One thing i don't understand though is the binaural audio. Some told me it is better to have it enabled, some said it's better to have it off as it may conflict with the razer 7.1 surround sound that i have. I would love a video about this as well or if anyone in the comments could help me understand this, i would really appreciate it
Thanks for making this! So well done and in depth
Thank you so much, dude. Your support goes a very long way 💙💙💙
Highly underrated channel. Here's hoping you get more of the attention you deserve
Earned my sub, great video. Finally someone that took the time to break down each setting and exactly what it does. Thanks man.
As always, awesome video my dude! Really appreciate the non bias and well rounded approach. Helped me learn what each setting was.. rather than just setting things based on someone else's and hoping for the best. Thank you!
Thanks! Glad I could help :)
Beautiful, love your work, very thorough but still concise.
Thank you bud!
what a great video dude, thanks for taking the time to breakdown each "why" behind the settings. New subscriber over here!
Thanks, man! Glad you enjoyed it :D
Didn't know about the performance hit with Clarity and Adaptive Sharpening.. Thank you!
Awesome video and amazing that ur explaining what they do, I do have a tip which might make it easier for other players. You could make it compare by using a multi screen, so when you're comparing between 2 things split the screen so its easier to see what the difference is instead of going into settings and swapping the settings
Yep- that would've been good. The *only* issue I see with that is that there is not the same image on both sides, but I might just center them both so that you see the same image. Good tip :)
Between this and Veritas’ setting vid, I feel like it’s super clear and helpful! Ty!
Hearing me even comapred to Veritas blows me away. Thank you so much! :D
Love ur Videos! Learned alot trough them! Thank u so much!

Insane Guide and great explanation, thumbs up ma g
Great in depth video! Keep it up buddy, you'll get many subs in future

great video mate - i really like your way of explaining! (and you a calm voice as well!) Thanks ;-)
best guide I saw ! Thank you man for every info wish you Happy New year!
You too dude, thanks! 🥳
Thank you sir! I'm returning from Alpha and it's nice to see a breakdown of settings
Welcome back! Its my pleasure and hope it helps at least a little! :)
Oh baby thank u I've been waiting for this
This is the most accurate, explained and showcased EFT settings guide on youtube atm. (I checked most, they are either outdated or they don't know what they are talking about).
Thank you, man. That's really my goal. Trust me, I've seen some of them too, and I just couldn't let that slide.
I don't comment often, but legendary breakdown. Love the detail, thank you.
Thank you so much, been looking for one of these videos
This video is outstanding. Thank you for it.
I still have unacceptable performance drops which Im gonna chalk it up as unoptimization.
5800x3d
7900xtx
32gb @3600mhz
And installed on my M.2 drive
But streets still struggles at like sub-75fps. Other maps though I saw massive performance gains disabling Mipstreaming and a lot of other steps you suggested. Thanks again.
75 on streets? Look at your settings and setup.. lol i get more on a 6900xt.. failed to mention i game at 1080p
Subbed, great guide. Improved my FPS by a good chunk and visibility is a lot better!
Thank you! A lot of people follow guides that can absolutely hurt that visibility, so I'm really happy to hear that :D
klemintime never fails to fill me up with happiness ( i now know what settings to use, hence the happiness )
what a great video. Best settings guide for tarkov ive seen or read for sure
Means the world dude, seriously 💙
Klemintime seems like a great guy, his videos help a ton, keep it up!
Thanks dude, I'll be trying to 🙏
Thank you for this guide and and overload of information!
fantastic explanations, not the best rig ryzen 2070s but now have nearly 100 fps on the majority of maps after the update! 50 on streets, marvelous stuff thanks!
Dude idk what my issue is I have a high end pc and struggle to even run factory

Great video and great explanations! Its much appreciated
Hello there! Thanks for your voice and your clear yet precise approach. I'm pretty sure you're gonna get big!
I have been trying to figure out an upgrade path for my rig to better enjoy EFT .14, but the farther I get, the more questions I have.
I've been using MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner too, but I stumbled upon posts that claimed that the numbers shown for VRAM are actually showing allocated memory, not dedicated. As far as I know, it's not possible to monitor this using Afterburner because of BattleEye, but supposedly, EFT's fps 3 mode shows this. The thing is I'm not sure I trust what I see there, because that would indicate my meager 6GB VRAM is more than enough to handle EFT.
I'd like to know your take on this. Have you ever used fps 3? Would you trust those numbers? Is my interpretation bad?
Thanks in advance Klem!
this might be the best breakdown I've personally seen... I've seen a "this setting is broken and doesn't work, or this setting works better turned on" like the nvidia reflex I've heard turning it completely off makes the game just run better, I've also heard that postfx alone just makes the game run worse, knowing that clarity and the adaptive one affecting performance I may fiddle with this setting. I play with a 3070ti and a ryzen 5800x3d and I avg 144 on most maps besides reserve and what I would assume streets on high low settings. so I may try some of this stuff out along with the on+boost for higher clocks great informational video
Perfect vid dude, with no bullshit like "double ur fps"!! Subscribed. Nice work and explanations.
Thank you man, appreciate it a lot 💙
Thanks for your work as always ❤❤

So happy it helped! An arena video coming soon (though it will follow a lot of the same points) and then more in-depth videos on specific settings. Stay tuned :D
How much of a difference would you say in BSG fixes/optimization as compared to .13?
thank you for explaining the functions and where it all applies
My pleasure :D
thank you so much man. thanks to you I was able to raise my FPS so the game is actually playable for me now.
Awesome to hear, dude. Glad I could help :)
Great video!
9:08 you can only try Shadow Quality differences in Factory map I guess because time is constant in Factory.
Are there actual sunrays in factory? I never though to try it out because its all indoors- that's huge if that's true
@@klemintime1452 I think there are some spots where sunrays are coming down from the ceiling.
@@klemintime1452 Was going to suggest the same as this other fellow. If there are no rays on daytime, perhaps some of the lights they have setup at night could work for demonstration. Just food for thought. Great Vid!
Shadows on factory are static not dynamic, so you won't see that difference
Very good video thank you for the information 👍
Thanks you. Very well done video.
best video, other settings videos literally made my fps worse, ur the goat
Garand thumbs first born helps me with my settings once more
More videos regarding performance need to be like this. Thanks for all the good info
im pretty sure in 99% of every other tarkov guide video you will see the exact same settings
what programs best to be running for performance info bcuz using nvidia overlay crap atm and wondering whats best, thnx for the vids
MSI Afterburner or Intel Presentmon are the two I recommend most frequently. (Afterburner is the one I use)
I just installed tarkov and followed your guide along with process lasso and ISLC memory cleaner
I unchecked ram cleaner in game and nvidia reflex was on (without boost)
After a 4-5 of raids my fps dropped significantly, from 80-90 on woods to 55-60
I enabled ram cleaner and it didn’t help so I decided to disable nvidia reflex and everything was back to normal
Since then I have disabled Ingame ram cleaner and disabled nvidia reflex and everything stable so far (8-9 raids)
Idk if it was reflex but looks like it
I am playing on a laptop also
Thanks for your videos, its not regular pc optimization placebo I admire your testing and that you encourage to test everything yourself and factcheck with other creators ❤
I'm glad it helped, but not so glad that you had the reflex bug again. I'll watch for more reports and see if I need to not recommend that again. Ensure your drivers are up to date and if you get that happening again, please report it to BSG.
Just the video I needed, thanks bub
Glad I could help man! :)
11:05 - just a note, if you want to run Anti-Aliasing off, you should turn off all sharpness settings, or have them to a very low amount.
Great Video. I am surprised you did not talk about NVIDIA Control Panel and the settings in there as well. Do you think they do not making much of a difference overall?
I haven't been able to see too much of a difference on my end with most settings, but I need to do a thorough retest. For now, I explained all of the settings in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ZbsYc6hwYdo/v-deo.html
Do u think my fps will increase if i upgrade my cpu, when it runs at 60% the whole raid?:) is it the ghz that matters for this game
10900x cpu and a 3080. getting like 30% usage on my cpu and gpu respectively. Any suggestions? basic things have been done like ddr speed being enabled and toggling nvidia settings. Thanks
Thx bro just subbed 👍🏼
Bought game in in january of 2020 and with each year it was harder and harder to run this game on my 3GB 1060, 16GB of RAM and Xeon 2470v2. But last patch is pretty playable and your video helped me to tune the settings more to my liking, gaining some visual improvment.
As for what I would like to suggest, well, getting yourself a second setup like mine or something similar and making tests on those machines. It's nice to see people jumping from 60 FPS to 90, but seeing change from average 35 to 50 would be even more epic (and useful). I think people that are watching those types of videos are running low budget hardware.
Damn man.... 3GB of Vram is crazy.
What was this first clip I saw during the intro O.O I can't even get a kill when I'm full kitted and homie is just out there with a pistol clapping cheeks.
Also very great video
will try these with my 4080 and 7800x3d combo, nice video, keep up the good work !
Very glad I saw this comment. I have the same cpu but I need a new motherboard with an AM5 socket, and I plan to upgrade to a 3080 ti or a 4070 ti. Can I ask- what motherboard do you use? I have 2 or 3 that im interested in, ones not too expensive-the other 2 are a decent amount. Very curious as I do NOT want to use an AMD gpu, i’d rather stay with nvidia. Thanks man
also, hows the performance?
I have asrock b650e Taichi Lite, performance is great, u wont regret it!
Damn that was a close encounter at the beginning!
Also just to note borderless is running better for me compared to fullscreen - Feels a lot smoother when flicking the mouse around and its the same fps
? makes no logic , fullscreen is the way to go i huess you dont notice any differences cause you monitor or slow pc
Good day, KlemInTime! Thank you for your job, friend.
How do you think why i have much more FPS (+20-30) in borderless than in fullscreen?
If I had to take a shot in the dark, it might be to do with the "disable fullscreen optimizations" tweak that was floating around, though I am not sure, honestly. That's extremely odd.
Hey man, atm im trying ur settings - do u know anything about good gaming settings for tarkov in the amd driver ?
Great video, thanks! Dropped a sub
thanks for the tip Mike Rowe
LMAO haven't got that one before; thank YOU for watching dude :)
5:20 the 16:10 aspect ratio is a nice way to stretch it out a bit but not crazy.
How do you get near 100% gpu usage? i can barely make it to 40%. I have a rtx 2080s and a i9-9900k and I struggle to get a consistent 90 fps in custom
Does Shadow Quality Affect CPU usage in any way? I’m pretty much CPU bound on 9900K and i have lots of GPU power to spare and the only CPU settings you mentioned were pretty much Binaural Audio and Reflex+Boost
Not really. I have a whole video testing both CPU and GPU bound performance differences between low and medium shadows linked in the desc of this video, and the differences were pretty much margin of error. (Streets may have had *very, very* slight performance gains if that was not the case)
Does the texture quality scale with resolution? I play on 1080p with 16gb ram and 6gb vram and dont seem to have problems?
Fantastic video good sir
I have 16 gbs of ram and a 6750 xt (12gb vram), should I go for Medium or Low textures?
Excellent video! One question how do you unlock refresh rate now? I remember it being a problem before where it was stuck at 60hz even if windows settings was set to 144hz or whatever. Thanks.
For me, all that was needed was to enable Nvidia Reflex. If you are on AMD though, I believe there is a trick in the AMD panel but I am not sure.
@@klemintime1452 I have an Nvidia GPU where is this setting in game or in nvidia control panel?
Happy to know reflex is fixed cause I gave up on spamming offline raids to check my settings a while ago
I spam them for you lmao
What’s the program you use to monitor your performance?
MSI Afterburner! There's a bunch of guides on YT about it and its fairly easy to setup.
Klem, thanks for this video. Whats about your nvidia control panel settings? Thanks for answer.
I have a video on that! It's right here: ua-cam.com/video/ZbsYc6hwYdo/v-deo.html
Hello Klemintime, I have the exact same CPU that you have but I paired it with the 3060 rtx, but when Im playing I get heavily CPU bottled and only use around 40-50% of my GPU, i find it hard to believe that the i5-13600k can't handle tarkov so my question is, can ram impact the performance of my CPU as well of the GPU? I kinda built this setup specificaly for tarkov but I can't get that many frames.
RAM speed can affect your performance, but I need to get several different kits to test the difference properly. Also, if you get similar performance to me in some of my videos (i.e around 70-80 FPS on streets) then you're just about in spec.
mip streaming still worth it on streets sometimes because it gets rid of a lot of the stutters, has a ton of bugs this wipe but
Thank you very useful for me
The old texture streaming was way better. I miss it. Had so much fps back then
SSR ultra gang...it isn’t pretty all the time but when it hits it’s glorious
Perfect video🎉
We have basically the same rig. What frames are you getting on streets? Also, are you getting stutters on streets? I get crazy amounts of stutter as I play and I haven't found a setting to fix it. I play at 1440p with dlss quality.
I do get some stutters, but I normally get 70-80 FPS on Streets. The biggest cause of stutter is likely scav spawn ins or VRAM/RAM spillover, so try to minimize those as much as possible.
For me personally (1080p, RX6900XT) 2x supersampling actually seems to work wonders with motion blur from TAA (high) and smoothens my frames in online raids. Could it be that increased or maxed GPU usage is beneficial in some scenarios?
Yes- if 2x supersampling forces you into a GPU-bound scenario where you were not already, you can see some smoothness in framepacing from that. However, that can lower your overall FPS (and likely does) so its a *big* tradeoff you have to consider.
(Also it works the best at 1080p too because the 6900xt just has so much headroom at that resolution- its a kick-ass card)
THANKS DUDE
i had on+boost for the start of the wipe and it absolutely trashed my frames, ill try it on just "on" and test it out ty
I have a problem, after some time, automatic ram cleaner either makes me disconnect from a raid or when I die or not it just make me get a auth error, expecially at the start of wipes
to show shadow quality you could go factory as its constant levels of light
Solid video! Now show me the best settings for fixing desync and shitty netcode :D
if you feel like taa is too blurry at any setting, try off at a 0.3 sharpness in game, i like my jagged edges though
nice video!
@4:15 correction on this,,, FOV can affect performance. And quite a bit if you have lower vram or slower GPU in general
Just want to add a note on mip streaming: I get severely increased loading screen times (2-10x), as well as frequent crashes (30-50% of the time) on raid end/ extract when I have mip streaming enabled.
Yup same and it is 100% mip streaming causing the end of raid auth errors
Thanks!
Thank *you* for watching! :D
how do you get those stats on hud? fps and such
