    Bastogne is one of my favorite time lines… D day and Market Garden are my 2 others so get 2 out of 3 in this version is pretty cool 😎

    The command cards will have cards for the uparmored versions of the Sherman and Easy Eights, Sandbag armor, Hyper velocity rounds for 76mm guns, and Cavarly companies. Battlefront previewed a few of them in their bulge discussion video. I am really looking forward to trying out a lot of the new formations.

      None of that uparmoring really does anything in real life esp. not the sand bags. Shouldn't give a bonus in the game.

      @@pcuimac it’s a game, all it does is give your tank a very slight chance to not blow up.

    Excellent review of the new book, I really enjoyed it. I'm actually British, but I love the American forces in Flames of War, especially the later Sherman tanks such as the Easy Eight's. Ooh, and like you I love the M24 Chaffee, kind of the sports car of the tank world ;) Can't wait to see some battles with these new rules and units!

      Thanks and they are coming. Battle report should be released today for youtube and on patreon. Both have Bulge American forces.

    I came across one error although it has nothing to do with actual game play but in one of the historical articles: on page 46 it states that the 28th Division was formed in 1941 and that is incorrect. It was called into Federal service February of 1941 but it was formed in September of 1917 and participated in six campaigns in WWI. I assume they meant to say mobilized.

    Love the weather and missions affects … question… does the painting guide show a darker version… as the bulge is a winter theme … so the green would be nearly black in color

    • @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
      @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall  3 роки тому +2

      Not really, the Paint scheme is still Olive Drab base. I have noticed though when I play on a white(snow) battlemat the tanks just look darker. it's really hard to film on the white tables for this reason.

    • @bronco5334
      @bronco5334 3 роки тому

      The paint should be the same color as at D-Day. Actually, there should be *less* tanks with the black-on-OD camo scheme, as that was mainly an Operation Cobra scheme. In rainy weather, when wet, the paint will look considerably darker, but by Bulge, temperatures are below freezing, and the paint won't be wetted with rain, it will be covered with, if anything, frost, which should slightly lighten the color.

    I’m glad they simplified this stuff so new players can break in but at the same time the books lack depth

    I am new to FoW. Was wondering if there was a percentage value to follow for the various points systems, like from a 1500 point base to a 100 point one. For example, i was wanting to put a konigstiger platoon in support of an armored company from bagration, but without knowledge of the value difference, I’m not sure how many points the konigstiger is worth.

    • @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
      @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall  3 роки тому

      I don't know Battlefront's point formula but you might look at the cost of a Ferdinand/elephant in German Bagration and then tack on a few extra points.

      @@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall I just saw their reply to the German question in their American Bulge video. They say that their production schedule is 6+ months behind and they aren't willing to give a date yet. Hopefully production/shipping issues get resolved soon.

    I would imagine that this series of books covers Market-Garden. You just don't have the specific unit lists like you did in the Market Garden book like for the various German kampfgruppen. However I can imagine those being in the command cards or in a small book like the airborne books from mid-war.

    • @gadget19k76
      @gadget19k76 3 роки тому

      Battlefront hinted at something like the mid-war Airborne books for Market Garden in a comment in their Bulge discussion video.

    I thought the "BULGE" Books were to cover from the recapture of France to the end of the war. So you could used the 101st and glider troops for Market-Garden.

    • @christianwilson5956
      @christianwilson5956 2 роки тому

      You could. Market garden sits in a gray area between the books so you could use an airborne company from the fortress europe, d-day, or Bulge book. I would pick one that fits the setting best because it might be a little off to play bulge airborne in market garden.

    M18 hellcat will also be plastic, might be the best one out of them all, but yes more plastic magic for the americans and a bigger variety of armies to play.

    What you'll need to buy to play the bulge....
    40 x tiger 2s
    1 x panther
    3 x pz4
    35 x leopard III
    And 3 x SS Super Corps, mostly Nazi zombies.
    All placed on a 3 x 3 table.

    Do any ww2 tabletop wargaming businesses have the confidence to give a rulebook that covers...the war? Or do they all try and break it up into as many saleable pieces as possible?

    • @Hedgehobbit
      @Hedgehobbit 3 роки тому +2

      The books cover different time periods so they don't exactly replace one another. Generally, you use the book that matches the time period of your opponent. So if you were playing against a D-Day German army, you'd use the D-Day American book.

    • @memorarenz
      @memorarenz 3 роки тому

      This book just covers later late war. It's all still late war

    • @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
      @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall  3 роки тому +2

      D-Day American is still a fantastic book. If you have the hit the beach starter your Shermans are more appropriate for the D-Day book. Bulge gives you the ultimate versions of the sherman plus other American wonder weapons like the Pershing.

    • @christianwilson5956
      @christianwilson5956 2 роки тому

      There are rulebooks and then there are sourcebooks/army books. The rulebook tells you how the game is played. The source book tells you how to build your force and what you can bring into the battle. There are two main time periods for the game; Mid War and Late War. Late war starting in 1944. Any book may be used as long as it fits the time period you are playing in.
      If you aren't sure where to start in late war get the Fortress europe book as it covers all 4 major powers armies in late war.

    • @christianwilson5956
      @christianwilson5956 2 роки тому

      @Simon Simoney no. You can only field what is in that book. It would be a good option to look at the book in person at a store and read the available units. But if your gaming group is chill there's no reason you couldn't come to an agreement on what units to use.
