Played tournaments for flames of war back when version 3 had just come out. The Americans were op. Played two years using a German panzerkompanie. Friggin American arty parks and easy 8’s were the Bain of my existence.
Great video. Love the quality and the views. Keep up the great work. I recently came upon your channel and subscribed due to the fun, yet professional videos. Looking forward to MORE flames of war and even Team yankee.
A great watch & flawless command of the rules as I saw it, I do query the Fallschirmjäger's panzerfaust use in both defense & counterattack as they are Limited 1.
Awesome job loved it, my FOW been on the shelf and off now. Got me motivated to paint them and learn the game. Thanks again for another great video , you got my vote on Little Wars TV by the way.
I used to really like flames of war, but it kind of turned into tank parking lot simulator somewhere along the road. Some really fun mixes of units in this report though, thanks.
Part of the issue is unit cohesion, i think. In V3 you could daisy-chain vehicles, but they switched to radius around the platoon leader, which is a lot more constraining. In other words, maybe you guys should check out V3!
Interesting game, still not sold on the I go, you go turn structure though. Good seeing 15mm stuff on your channel all the same! I went a bit mad last year and bought a whole load of FoW and Plastice Soldier Company 15mm stuff and the 'I ain't Been Shot Mum' Too Fat Lardies rules (when I realised I wasn't going to play FoW), but it's all just sat their since waiting to be painted. I've also thought of using them for O Group eventually - let's just say my inspiration is waiting to be reignited!
Great to see some 15mm from You guys, I would highly recommend battlegroup, I find it far superior to flames of war, feels more authentic and the game mechanics are fantastic. Would love to see you guys film a game of battlegroup.
Great looking table, terrain and Minis. Great to see you trying a new rule set and I think Jonny explains the rules well. Not sure about this game re: ranks of vehicles and a lot of dice throwing although more than happy to watch more. Thought however, that they did reflect how hard it would be to dislodge dug in Fallschirmjaeger. Have you tried Crossfire Rules? Thanks Travis👍
@@samb2052 yes, I agree, very original in concept and very quick mechanics, took me a while to understand and appreciate. You're right, some would not warm to it. 👍
That 3 save for infantry makes me a little crazy. Not sure why. I think because you also get that save if you’re in the open. I’m sure the thinking is that there are always folds etc in land.
It does seem odd to not have any modifiers for saves regardless of what you get hit with. But that is bolt action thinking for me. In CoC there really aren’t any except HE reduces cover by 1.
Infantry is expected to not be charging blindly (and if they are doing that they are conscripts who are being hit on 2+) there is always something to hide etc. Big guns firing directly into infantry (i think its 100mm and up) force them to reroll succesfull saves. Also when infantry isn't in bulletproof cover and gone to ground it can melt incredibly quickly
I really like flames of war as a game to watch. Can't play it sadly as I Play Bolt Action and Infinity, so another game would make a time poor man too time poor. So what I'm trying to say is more Flames of War from you guys would be awesome!
One way you could speed up the game is to not roll for every team individually when using artillery. It often doesn't matter if base in the front got killed or in the back so you just count up all the teams under the template and roll everything. For Germans its literally everything at once, for US rifle platoon you have to roll seperately for Bazookas etc.
It is important in some instances however due to objectives or assault ranges. I do agree that we will probably do an as they lay type of situation for teams that are all the same in the future.
Interesting change for you. But I don't thnk FOW has much to do with 'O Group' other than 15mm scale. Well done Travis for letting Johnny show another game system.
Great game guys. More flames of war please.
More of this please!

Great report! Fantastic terrain as always. I hope that one day you guys will use the 15mm stuff to play I ain’t been shot mum.

I think if you play historical lists and tactics, it may be a bit more enjoyable.
This was just a pickup game. There are some historical scenarios you can play they have more realistic forces n objectives.
The straight Napoleonic style lines of vehicles that gameplay produces are a big visual turnoff for me.
Fireball Forward is a great alternative. The lack of opportunity fire/overwatch is also a strange choice in FoW.

Battlegroup is another good use of the 15mm minis. Chain of Command works well in 15mm also.

glad to see a FOW show

For my money Crossfire is the best company level tactics game going. Not everyone’s thing though.

Great report as always. Have you considered Fireball forward for 15mm, its fast, easy to learn and gives a historial feel to games?

About as much as Bolt Action has to do with Chain of Command 😄
Nice report!
How big is your gaming board?
since you have place for the trays for the minis? :)
It’s &x4. The removable trays are a foot wide each dropping the board to the standard 6x4 but allowing for an 8x4 table if needed
What about O’Group ?!
I don’t have that yet
Holy shazbat, almost 2k views in two days! :)
Nice to see you playing my favorite game. Pity the German player, though, not a very balanced game 😂
noice
the music at teh end is so Team Yankie haha
Sorry Guys, me again, Thanks also to Johnny 👍
